First visit to this location. Chose because they took walk-ins, had online check-in, and everyone else was closed on Sunday morning lol. The stylist seemed a little stern and scary at first when we checked in. Granted, I am easily scared, but still...haha. Haven't had a haircut since before covid so I had trouble explaining what I wanted (basic chin length bob with layers, but not a "karen" cut...can you tell I don't get out much?). She went abracadabra and snippity snip, and OMG I LOVE it. In and out super fast, and I don't think I've ever had cuter layers. Afterward we visited friends who have a 6 & a 3 year old who've never seen me without long hair. When I walked in, both kids yelled "I LIKE YOUR HAIR!!!" Granted, the 3 year old probably yelled it because the 6 year old yelled it, but you know what? Little kids don't lie. Great Clips earned the toddler seal of approval. XD I'm so pleased with my cut and will likely be back. :) read more

TL;DR: Tauna treats customers poorly like mannequins and is not worth your money. Made an online reservation for a haircut, but there was no option to select a preferred stylist. A woman led me to a seat for which the stylist's name was conspicuously covered, which I found odd. She promptly began by pushing my head around, not gently mind you, while rushing to shave off some hair, and she was distracted blabbering with coworkers. At some point, she laughed loudly directly into my left ear mid conversation without any warning whatsoever--as if I was a mannequin with hair. Then she twirled me to the left to cut off some hair from the front, instead of just taking a step closer, and made it so I couldn't see my reflection in the mirror. She then had the audacity to tell me to "stop moving around, please"--when she was the cause of most of the movement in the first place. To top it off, at the end she didn't ask for any confirmation nor show me what the back of my head looked like, exhibiting zero awareness and complete disregard for customer service and satisfaction. I was this close to telling her to fuck off after paying (obviously no tip for her) after she said "have a nice weekend" as if nothing happened, but I just said "thank you" and left. I found out her name was Tauna afterwards. Other stylists there had cut my hair but with gentle treatment and consideration, so I found Tauna's presence as a contradiction and letdown to her coworkers. Even her craft is lacking--noticeably of worse quality in comparison to other coworkers who gave me the same haircut. If you end up going there, odds are that you'll be better off with another coworker and have a more pleasant experience overall. read more

The snatchy chick with the tattoos up her arms and the hideous skin tight Halloween leggings is the reason this place is getting a one star review and the reason why I will never recommend this place to anyone or ever go back here. She was so unprofessional and rude, in a fricken hurry for no reason and CANNOT cut hair! Made an appointment (checked in online) and arrived early for my 14 year old son to get his hair cut. My boyfriend and I took my son inside and just as my son was telling this gal how he would like his hair trimmed up, she abruptly interrupted him and snapped "just come back here already!" I should have just told her nevermind right then and there and left before she started haphazardly hacking up his hair. And I do mean HACKING up his hair. My boyfriend and I stood by the front windows while my son's hair was getting cut and it seemed to be fine that we were there until she was getting towards the end of hacking up his hair and she yelled from across the entire salon "Ummm, which one of you will be paying for this haircut? Because whoever isn't paying needs to go wait outside in your car or something." Seriously?! Why wouldn't you mention that at the beginning of the appointment instead of yelling it across the store at the end of the appointment? Makes no sense to me. Whatever. I went out to the car and my boyfriend paid and walked out with my son literally 2 minutes later. When I saw my son's hair, my jaw about hit the floor. I was in total disbelief at how horrible it looked. But it makes sense as she rushed us when we arrived and she rushed through his haircut too. The top was half as short as he had wanted it because she couldn't be bothered listening to him about what he wanted. The "fade" she did had a blunt, straight line all the way around his head to where it looked like one of those Jewish Kippah hats. One sideburn was a good 3\4" longer than the other one and the shorter one was cut slanted and not even straight across. And his neck cleanup in the back goes up into his hairline way too far and isn't straight either. Just a complete and utter mess. I could have done a better job on his hair if I were cutting it while blindfolded and riding on a rollercoaster and it would have saved me 20$ AND we wouldn't have had to deal with her snippy, bad attitude. Great Clips needs to fire her. She is causing them to lose customers! read more

Absolutely rediculous. Took daughter to get a haircut this morning. Show up and no other customers being served and none in there. Stylists just standing around. Sign in and they tell me there is a wait because they're waiting for people who checked in online, but no one showed up, and there are several stylist just standing around still.... Still waiting and they tell me it's gonna be 45 MINUTES because of their online check ins! But no one showed up, except another guy, who actually was an online check in, but apparently not high enough on the special check in lost to get served before these mystery customers, and also doesn't get served. Long story short we left and went around the corner to Hair Masters, who saw us immediately. And the other guy walked in as well because he realized how rediculous the whole situation was. Conclusion: this place prefers no show online check ins over customers ready to pay, even if every stylist isn't even working... read more

My experience wasn't good at all. They need extra help. At the Ferndale, WA location. My mom walked in to set up appts. All the clients were busy. One heavy set gal said you want hair cuts. I said yes. There were 4 ahead of us. She came to help us in 2 minutes. But announced to all the customers that she was going to lunch. You don't go to lunch when you have 6 clients waiting for hairuts. She told my mom it would be 25 minutes very rudely to my 82 year old mother. My appt. would be 1 hr. No chairs for her to sit. All occupied. The blonde client said you need to go out of here. To many people in the shop. Both mouthy. We won't be coming back. They need to learn how to speak to customers. And have better attitudes. I've been in retail 30 years. read more

I have gone here a number of times for myself and my 2 year old boy. So far all the stylists have been very pleasant and professional. I have not had a botched haircut yet. Granted, this place is nothing fancy. It is for simple get in and get out haircuts. The Great Clips app for your phone is pretty handy so you can check in ahead of time and monitor the wait after you leave the house. Also, if you get on their mailing list they will send some pretty good coupons from time to time. As far as the children's haircuts, everyone here seems to be very patient in dealing with squirmy toddlers and babies. I'm always impressed and tip well when they get through a child's haircut without injury. read more

Despite the fact that a bell indicated that the door had opened and a customer was waiting, NO ONE turned around from their station for four minutes. No, "Welcome to Great Clips, be right with you" that I am used to at my home salon. Only when someone came up to check out his customer, was I given any attention. He had difficulty recognizing an out of state area code, kept trying to use the local 360; kept telling me I had too many numbers. I mistook his, "okay you are ready" as an invitation to walk back with him, but he rudely told me that he wasn't ready. Though I was the first one on the check in list, two on-line check-ins came in so they were taken first which was okay. But then a young Russian speaking woman came in with her father to have his hair cut corrected. A Russian speaking stylist came right to the counter and brought him back to her station. Acquaintance or customer, there is a protocol for taking in new customers. The saving grace was Rocky who listened to me and gave me a great trim. read more

It's never easy getting your ears lowered in unfamiliar territory. I was visiting my parents in Ferndale on vacation and had long put off getting a haircut. Back home I always go to the same lady, and I can't remember the last time I had a stranger cut my hair. However now I had lots of time to get a haircut, so I decided to give Great Clips in the new strip mall built upon the hallowed grounds of the former Grant's Drive-In a try. I was warmly greeted at the door and told I would have a short wait before being seated for a hair cut. I was very pleased to find out that despite brisk business that I would not be waiting long. Shortly there after I was informed that I was ready to be served and I was greeted by the stylist with a handshake and an introduction before being seated. I got a great haircut here in a speedy, kind and competent manner all for much less than I spent back home. Nice job Great Clips of Ferndale. read more

I walked in on Friday morning, and they were just finishing with another customer. Only a minute later I was seated. I told Dawn how I wanted my hair cut, and she proceeded to do it exactly as I wanted. How often does that happen at a salon that you've never been to before! Well let's see, my husband took the grandson in so they both could receive a haircut...since when is it required to give out your phone number to receive a haircut??? The receptionist kept insisting for a number, spell his last name, tried to explain he's never been in before but his grandson had. She couldn't find his name in the system and I went there twice with him before. In today's world I don't believe you should have to give out personal information for all to hear to receive a haircut. If this is your policy then you've lost several customers because of it. And to top it off, the person sitting in the chair waiting, had her son type my husband info in her phone, my husband heard her ask her son did you get all that and he said yes and handed the phone back to her. Something that was suppose to be a fun day with grandson turned into a stressful one. I give two stars only because the stylist did a nice job on the cuts, no fault on her. We didn't even get a hair cut at this place. In the past the ladies have been very nice and caring to my son to get a hair cut here. He is afraid and does cry and I've always appreciated them... BUT today there is a older lady with Red hair there that was rude and was giving off negative vibes before even getting started. I could tell before calling us over she didn't want to do it. She was avoiding eye contact and not smiling.. just giving out the feeling I don't want to help you. So when we sat down in her chair and my son started crying she said I can't cut his hair if he is going to move around and scream. I just had my hair cut from a lady with long braid and its the worst haircut I have ever had. Her attitude right from the start was snippy abd I should have known to ask gor someone else. It waa done with a razor which wzs what I had last time. Last time it looked super cute, done with care and I loved it. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I went there with my boy friend and he started first. About 10 minutes into his a different woman called me back and was nice at first. She asked me what I wanted and I told her to clean up the layers and cut my bangs to about under my eye length. About 5 minutes later after a great deal of sighing and poking my face about 4 times she told me she was done. My boyfriend wasn't done with his and I have long thick hair. The lady had cut my bangs sorter than my Boyfriend's hair. She did nothing with the layers and trimmed only a half an inch off. After words my boyfriend went back in and explained to someone who didn't cut my hair how upset I was. The person who cut my hair didn't say anything until the other woman went to the back and said she wanted to see me. Apparently she was the Manager. My mom brought my little sister here to get a hair cut last night (2/4/2015) and the lady there was completely rude and unprofessional. My mom said there was a sign that said walk-ins were welcome...but when she went in, the lady inside told her they needed to make an appointment and to come back in an hour (there was only one person in there). They left and came back an hour later and the lady wasn't any better. When they walked in, she let out this big sigh like my mom and little sister were bugging her and she couldn't be bothered (even though the place was completely empty). My little sister ended up getting her hair cut but the lady acted like she had somewhere else to be the whole time. When checking my mom out at the register, she didn't smile or talk or anything. For $18, you can go to another salon in Bellingham that will do a way better job and with people that won't like like they don't want to be there. read more
