Ordered at the counter and brought home a bunch of food last night. We are very impressed. Had multiple gross experiences with Chinese food in Dothan, so I'd been very skeptical of trying any more places. So with high standards in place, we ordered away ... And it was great. Everything we ordered was great. Chicken was good, all the veggies were fresh and crunchy, no mystery meat or soggy veggies. None of the dishes were greasy or heavy ... even the sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls were light and crispy - not greasy. They have veggie, pork OR shrimp egg rolls, which is awesome option if you don't do pork. I am a huge hot and sour soup fan. The hot and sour soup didn't seem to have the usual pork strips in it, and was a bit different than the normal soup you see in Chinese restaurants - but in a good way! It was FULL of veggies. Carrot shreds, bok choy, button mushrooms, and the usual accompaniments. It was delicious. They offer several combo plates all day that have an entree and egg roll and fried rice. The portions were generous. I wish the menu had a description of ingredients, but the dishes are fairly common - garlic chicken, Szechuan chicken, and so on. The specialty items did offer some delicious sounding items. I can't wait to try something else. There are a few tables if you need to eat there, but this is not a sit down place. From observing the people eating in, they got their food in takeout containers. So if you want a nice leisurely place to "dine", it's not here. Food is cooked to order ... They are not scooping your takeout from a buffet line, you can look behind the counter into the kitchen and see the huge woks and cooks. Everyone was friendly and we had our order in about 10 minutes, which is pretty epic considering the volume of people streaming in to order or pick up orders. read more

Found this place through Yelp with good reviews. My fiancé and I went, and it was just as good as reviews said it was! We ordered 2 combos (General Tsao chicken and jalapeño chicken) with an extra egg roll. It costed us about $18.50 . The portions are great and the food was really awesome! We will definitely be back for more! My only tip for ordering is if you don't like onions, be sure to ask if its part of the meat dish. I had the jalapeño chicken and it had or seemed like it had an entire onion cut up in it. It was still good otherwise. :) read more

After reading reviews, I decided to give this place a try, as our regular spot has changed owners and not for the better. When I arrived 30 minutes prior to closinh, the chairs were already stacked on tables! I placed my order with a moderate degree of difficulty with a language barrier. This place is set up so you are able to view all activity in the kitchen, which may or may not be a positive thing. A few folks straggled in getting call in orders. I was told 3-4 minutes. I went to restroom to wash my hands and when I exited almost tripped over a rolling mop bucket full of grey bleach water and a mop sticking out of it, which had been placed immeditrely outside the door by a female worker. I returned to the counter and another customer entered. We were chatting while the woman continued to mop the dining area with this potent bleach water. As she mopped toward the counter, we were literally moved from spot to spot by her, totally unaware that we were customers waiting on food! After several more minutes, my order was ready. Usually on the drive home you can smell what you ordered. It is 5 hours later and everything still smells like bleach. Tina ordered shrimp chow mien, standard fare and a large serving. The fried rice is yellow, lending visually more toward saffron than Chinese. There were about 10 small to very small shrimp atop the regular mix of cabbage,carrot, snow peas, etc. I ordered the chicken and vegetables. The veggies were above usual, including a large amount of snow peas, water chestnuts, mushrooms and virbrant brocolli! The chicken was newspaper thinly sliced, but it didnt matter as it appeared to be mostly fat, It had a gelatenous texture which was too smooth and almost greasy. Could not eat it. I dont know what the other reviewers ordered, but it wasnt this. I have never been moved around a floor by a mop! Horrendous!!! How many health violations in one visit!!! read more

For Dothan, I think it's one of the better take-out places we have. Good food, and it's pretty cheap, and you don't wait too long.

Great China is the best Chinese in Dothan. I know that's not saying much, but the service is good and the food is so fresh. Double cooked pork is a favorite of mine, and the egg rolls are huge. Their wonton soup is the best when you're not feeling so great. They're enormous and full of fresh ginger. Fried rice isn't the best, but that's really something I prefer to make at home anyway. First off, I have to say this is the best Chinese food in the Wiregrass area. I've been going to Great China on a regular basis for years. It is owned and operated by a very nice and humble family and all are of Chinese descent. The food is always made fresh to order and comes in great portions...one order will usually feed you for two meals. They have great pricing for the quality of food and service they provide. The food also comes in quality plastic containers that can be reused. If you haven't tried Great China yet, You owe it to yourself and/or family to give it a try. There are very few locally owned restaurants in Dothan and very few really good Chinese restaurants. However, the Great China restaurant is amazing! There is a lot of variety on the menu, and the food is very fresh, flavorful and such a treat! The service is prompt and accurate, we definitely will be back. I wish these folks the very best! Great Chinese food. We have been coming here since 2007 when we moved to Dothan. We have tried just about every Chinese place in town, and this is by far the best. Everything is so fresh and delicious. They are very fast and have never gotten our order wrong, and that alone is the be commended with the way a lot of food service places are about accuracy these days. I also love that they are willing to try and accommodate even the pickiest of people- like ME. For instance, I LOVE hot and sour soup but I hate Tofu and I don't like it spicy, so they make it fresh for me with no spices and no tofu. Most places, you have to take it like they prepare it, so I never get to eat it unless I go here. We always get the Sesame chicken and ask for it to be cooked soft and it is so tender that it will literally melt in your mouth. Best Lo Mein I have ever had. I could easily say something wonderful about everything we have tried, which is almost everything. Give this place a try, and you will be glad you did. So glad we live close to this place. We go there about once a week at least. read more
