The Great Blasket Centre was a major highlight of our recent trip to Ireland. This place is also fairly isolated, so Gayle and I were very appreciative the that Centre includes a Cafe. Soup and Brown Bread (with sparking water) were the order for the day off a fairly impressive menu (including sweets of course). A big bonus was nicely available seating within a fairly large room, with big windows with a view toward the Blasket Islands. Even on a somewhat rainy and blustery day, the light really shined through. Folks working here were also super nice and helpful. read more
Stopped at the Great Blasket centre on our drive of Slea Head. Rick Steves said that this cafeteria wasn't bad. We were treated to some information about the great authors of the Blasket Islands, but then were feeling peckish. Points for them: my travel companion was overjoyed to find they had bubblegum ice cream. The food was made to order and was varied. Cons: a bit overpriced in my opinion. Lots of fried food. The fish and chips were a bit greasy for my taste. The latte was weak. Overall, I wouldn't make it a destination, but it was a great stop to eat along our drive of Slea Head. read more
