Nonsuch Brewing - Burger and fries

Nonsuch Brewing

Came with my family on a Friday night after tasting their beers at the Alleyways market. I really…read moreloved their Rice Lager and was excited to try other beers. The brewery has a modern, lounge vibe on the inside and a large patio area in the back. Perfect for the summer. Food is limited, but they offer a burger and light bites like buratta, chips and dip, and charcuterie. I tried their Nifty Lemongrass and Lychee seltzer. It was so refreshing and blasting with flavor. It's a little sweet, but I loved the overall look of the can and taste. Highly recommend to hang with friends or to grab a pint!

+.5 for service This…read moreplace definitely looks like somewhere the upper-middle class hang out. It's such a cozy environment inside, and everyone I saw inside was very well dressed. I went here with a few friends, one who was visiting the city for the first time. The food menu isn't extensive, but multiple reviews have mentioned Le Burger is the only item one should order here, so that's what most of us did. Portion-wise it's not the biggest. Quality though? I'd say it's the best burger in the city in terms of rich flavourness. Sure it's not the biggest, but for this place it's the quality that stands out. In addition to the burger, we also shared a beef tartare. It was good as well, somewhat pricey at $22 given the portion size but it does its job as a shared plate. Service was excellent here. Definitely would return for special occasions whenever I have friends over (a bit bougee for me to consider going multiple times a month).

I recently had my social here and I loved it. They were really well priced and one of the only…read morevenues we could find that held 600 people. It was a good location for us being in the south end of the city. The centre was clean, updated and neutral. They had a really great set up whether you were to have your social, wedding or conference here. Their pricing was excellent for the service you got. They set up everything for us - all we needed to do was place our prizing. They also completely cleaned and took everything down so when 1am hit we could just go home. The staff was very friendly and Quincy was a life saver many times. The communication was spot on and I would recommend this venue to anyone!

I attended a wedding here recently and had average hopes that it would be a nice venue. Yes, I…read morerealize it's a community centre but it seems so new that I thought it would be a decent venue for a wedding. Maybe this place looked good when it first opened but the place needs to be freshened up. The washrooms looked quite used and has seen better times. The courtyard looked run down and had a few picnic tables. The main hall is fairly large but the decor is pretty dated. Only when the lights are dimmed does the banquet hall look okay. The cash bar is ridiculously overpriced at $5.50 for bad wine (but the cheap wine selection is likely attributed to the bridge & groom) and $5.00 for any other mixed drink like rye & coke or beer. Those prices seemed a bit steep as I asked others what they thought of the pricing. But then again, I think cash bars for an entire reception is pretty lame. Can you not afford to treat your family and friends for an hour or two of booze and then switch to a cash bar? I digress. The food was terrible which is a shock because this place runs a cafe that's connected to this centre that serves up Italian-style lunch buffet during the weekday called "Cafe 13." They only charge like $28 per plate for chicken dinners - this includes, bread, salad, entree with 2 sides and a dessert. I never have high hopes for wedding food but I barely ate mine. The best parts of the meal were the very average tasting dinner buns. The salad was soggy as it was likely dressed too early, then the chicken stuffed with ham and cheese was greasy and unappetizing. The side dishes were also very greasy. The chocolate cake dessert was a bit dry but ranks as the second best item of that night after the dinner buns. The bartenders and servers were nice and had interesting personalities. But in terms of food and overall venue, I wouldn't recommend this for a wedding unless you have no other choice and if you are bringing in your own caterer. Plus, the location of this place is off of Wilkes, in a very industrial area so it's not even scenic enough to take photos around here.
