I started with the attitude that I would go once or twice a week. This week, I look forward to attending four lessons. Last week, I went to my first open mat that this gym offers every Saturday. I did loose 10 pounds since I started. 10 pounds does not excite me, what excites me is that I've been able to keep those 10 pounds off. This morning, I weighed in 12 pounds down. What I didn't really expect was the quality of the community that this dojo supports. People have been friendly and supportive. I believe Kevin is responsible for creating, incubating, and growing such a positive environment.

I called inquiring about lessons for my two children, I indicated that it was a Christmas present and that I had two kids, I was quoted over the phone $120 for everything. I got to the establishment on Dec 19,2008 and I was advised that it was $120 per child. I stated that I was quoted differently but still purchased the lessons as I knew it was something my children would enjoy. I was told to give them a call after the holidays and we would schedule an orientation and get the boys started. NO DATES WERE DISCUSSED, NOR WAS I TOLD THAT MY PURCHASE WAS NON-REFUNDABLE I was given a tiny little receipt. I had recieved some news from my employer that I was being relocated, and I called the Black Belt Academy on Jan 8, 2009 and explained the situation. I was told that "Master Randle" would call me back, three calls later I received a call back and was told that it is not the academies fault that I was relocating and that there was nothing they could do for me. I was also told that classes had already started! I demanded a refund as I had not been told this was non-refundable nor had I signed anything. So I paid for services that I never received. They had my childrens names and our contact information, but we received no call questioning why the kids were not present. $242. is alot of money to pay for a 4 week class to not attend. Again, I feel this is poor business standards and I feel that there unprofessionalism will lead to further issues. I would beware.

jessica, i wish i had known about this site before february…read more.. would saved me hassle, aggrivation, and yeah... i took my daughter there once, and only once. back in february.. had received a postcard from them offering a free class.. she had gone there one time before for a friends bday party and liked it so i figured what the heck. anyways, so we went there on a thursday night, and the class was maybe 5 to 10 minutes.. guess u get what u pay for.. he tried sweet talking me into signing myself up for classes as well..i feel now that he was taking advantage of what i had said about my love of the martial arts and my dream for me and my kids to take classes..he said for me to think about it and that they would work with me for both of us. said that i would need to come in on monday or tuesday with a 50 dollar deposit for my daughter's classes and thats when she would get her uniform.. that week or on that day that i was supposed to do that i called them and told them that i would be unable to. due to that i am a single parent.. bf had been laid off and had no other source of income coming in... he tried a couple of times through voicemail to persuade me to change my mind.. again using my dreams to lure me in, but i never changed my mind.. if u dont have the money u dont have it.. so it is now may, and ive received 2 more postcards from them saying that i owe them money, that they will be taking me to court and to call to work this out.. and yesterday, they tried sending a certified letter, but i refused to sign it.. so i warn everyone to heed anything that is a free class, trial any of it.. i have no paperwork, no uniform no nothing..this place is a disgrace to the martial arts..
