I absolutely love Grease Monkey! The staff is always helpful, professional and courteous. They do quick work and keep you updated on the progress of your car. You can be in and out very quickly and they even top off fluids like oil, wiper fluid. My info is already in the system so they have the history of my work orders. Great spot!!!! read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The first time I had a vehicle serviced at Grease Monkey, it was great. Jimmy was super friendly and helpful. No muss no fuss. Apparently Jimmy is now "retired" and there are new folks there and this time the experience was an awful, money-grabbing nightmare. My partner and I stopped to get a simple oil change and air in the tires. Conveniently, when service was completed and our vehicle moved outside, suddenly the battery was dead and "bad." We couldn't get the vehicle started and the techs conveniently couldn't get it jumped. So guess what? Now we're stranded when it's cold and need a battery that just happened to die at Grease Monkey. The full scenario: We were out running errands and noticed we needed an oil change and some air added to our tires so, based on the previous experience, chose Grease Monkey on W Wendover. As per usual, we asked for an oil and filter change to which the female tech asked if we wanted an air filter replacement, to which we said yes. A little bit later, the female technician came in, handed us the keys and said we were good to go but it took quite a few minutes for one of the other male technicians to come and ring us out. I found that a bit odd as most places are usually in need of moving customers through quickly. Once we rang out and went to our vehicle, it wouldn't start. We have had no prior issues with the van starting. The two male technicians, one of which apparently specialized in Interstate Batteries, knew we weren't able to start our van and just so happened to come outside with a battery tester. Of course, they tested the battery and it was "bad." Weird. We have had no indication as such and there are monitors all over that van. So next they come to jump the battery. No luck. It's convenient that they serviced the van and it had no trouble but somewhere between them pulling it out of the bay and us getting in it, the battery conveniently died. The battery tech had a nasty attitude problem and wasn't friendly or personable as well. There's absolutely no way we should have been stuck footing the bill for a brand new battery. The tech even admitted that he should have tested it before servicing even began but didn't. So now, here they stick us with a $400 and nearly $200 in the original services we asked for. Crooked BS is what this is. So over $550 later and after being hoodoo'd we were finally able to go home. There's no way this was a "coincidence." We absolutely were taken for a financial ride. Finances we really don't have so you can take that "free oil change" and "$10 Manager's Discount" and stick in your ears. This was shady service and a money grab. We won't be back for any service from this Grease Monkey location. read more

I had a terrible experience with them so to each its own I guess. I went there with my car , they inspected the car made us wait 30 mins, failed the car for the exhaust? And then still charged us the full amount. I went to the car dealership place right down the road and they looked at it and said they would pass it right away and seen no exhaust issues and said it's not typical for places to charge inspection after they failed the car. They were very shady didn't wanna give a straight forward answer, the manager just hid behind the older gentlemen at the counter and I do not recommend, everytime someone ask for a recommendation I keep them aware of this time. I was very unhappy with this location. I sat at the front desk for 20 minutes for someone to come out and ask what I needed. The girl who finally came from the back addressed a customer already being served but never acknowledged me. I waited another five minutes, and finally, the head mechanic came out and asked if he could help. I told him I was trying to get my car inspected, and he said it would be forty-five minutes to an hour. I called before I went because I felt there might be a wait, and they told me they could do the inspection. Please remember I had already waited twenty-five minutes without even being acknowledged. I wouldn't recommend going here because the service sucks. read more

These guys ripped my wife off..... #1 they charged $166 for an oil change, air filter, and a tire rotation. -a 5qt full synthetic bottle of the same oil I can buy for $40 at the most -air filter $35 #2 she got her service done and was leaving for the beach that evening. She drives 3.5 hours to the beach then on Friday she goes out and on the way home the front right wheel feels like it's wobbling. Come to find out they did not even tighten the lug nuts on that wheel. She had lost 3! I mean 3! Lug nots and the 2 that were left you could loosen by hand! -This put her and her friend and everybody else on the road in danger. DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS LOCATION RIP YOU OFF AND TRY TO KILL YOU AT THE SAME TIME. read more

On way to appointment from McLeansville to Greensboro, stopped in to Grease Monkey on highway 70 because low air in tires warning. Clint and Myles were kind enough to put air in tires and even checked under hood. Couldn't ask for better service! I've had several services done at this location and have never been disappointed!! read more

They are slow and inconsistent. Don't trust this shop to do anything to your vehicle. They'll waste your time and in the end, cost you more. AVOID! read more

I should've posted this review a long time ago. In February, I went in for an oil change and to get a tire patched. They up sold everything possible, took literally all afternoon and then some to do the work, and left my car in a mess that is STILL not sorted out after 2 additional visits to have them fix their mistakes (which they had the gall to charge me for). If you're not familiar with Grease Monkey, they do everything they can to upsell you this, that, and anything else they can think of. So, while I was getting up sold on my already high priced oil change, the guy asked when was the last time I had a tune up - well, I honestly couldn't remember. So I said, sure, go ahead and do it. This was after I was told the tune up would add maybe half an hour and I'd be out of there in an hour or so. This was at noon. I didn't leave until about 5:40pm. After asking them repeatedly what was happening, and being reassured over and over again that it was "only going to be another 20 minutes" or "another 10" or whatever, I finally got my bill. Wow. About $600 for the privilege of being held captive for the afternoon - I would totally get the time required if told accurate information, it was the continual "just a little longer" that made it infuriating. But that isn't even the beginning of the problem. I finally got my keys back and hopped in to drive home. The first red flag was that someone had left a clipboard with their paperwork in my car. Sloppy, but no big deal. But then, about a couple hundred yards down the road I saw that my dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree. Check engine, and 2 lights (one flashing) advising that my skid control system was offline. And when I got out I saw they had failed to replace the valve cover on the tire they patched. All in all, I was pretty unhappy. Obviously upset, the next day I took it back and asked to speak to the manager. They were slow then, with no vehicles in the work area. I explained the problem and my severe disappointment, and they got my car in immediately. After lots of futzing around, they told me that the indicator lights were due to an EVAP code. "Ok. Great. It wasn't like that before you touched it yesterday so please fix it." However, they couldn't. All they could do was reset the codes. This was after another 3+ hours of my time being wasted. And they had the audacity to charge me $17 and act like they were doing me a favor. And once I got back to my car - still no valve cap on the tire. At this point I could've torched the place and not thought twice, but instead I calmly went back in and got the valve cover. Resetting the codes did nothing, as expected. The next day the same lights were up again. So a few days later I ended up going back. Again. To try once more to get them to fix the mess they had made of my car. Another afternoon totally wasted. This time they claimed my gas cap was causing the problem. Not totally implausible, but somewhat unlikely, and completely wrong as it turns out. After selling me a new gas cap (that I don't like half as much as the original), and charging me $10 for "installation" (really?) the problem did not go away. I should've gone back over there and held their feet to the fire but at this point I'm just so over it. I can't bear to spend another hour in their stinky little waiting room waiting to be disappointed and overcharged again. I'll have to find a competent mechanic to finally solve this so my car can pass an emissions inspection, and fully expect to be out another $200-$300 when I do. The kicker is that during my time in their shop I heard no less than 3 other customers coming in about mistakes that had been made with their vehicles as well. Unbelievable. It's hard to imagine how this could've gone worse. Hands down the single worst experience I have ever had with a car mechanic. Astronomically terrible. read more

I went to grease monkey for an oil change. I sat with my car running while I was waiting for them to finish the car in front of me. One of the men that works there came over to me and hatefully told me to turn off my car because he said it was heating up the car and I should not do that before an oil change. Then they charged me $165 for an oil change! They tried to tell me the last place who did it for $90 did not put synthetic oil in, when I know they did. He relished telling me that I will need new tires to get my inspection passed in November. I told him I would never be back because the last time my car was inspected they made me buy new wipers to pass inspection when my wipers were brand new. This used to be a reasonably priced and trustworthy place until it changed hands. Even one of the worksers admitted the prices went up when it changed hands a few years ago. With their rude attitude and horrible prices I will never be back. read more

I went in on a Saturday for Inspection and I was told by The Manager before I can pass The Inspection my Headlights need to be polished so I kindly told him no. Then I went to another Inspection Station and my vehicle passed with flying colors as I knew this Manager and Grease Monkey is just After people's money for sure as I am An Auto Mechanic as well and the vehicle I brought in was in perfect condition enough to pass the Inspection. My question is why this Grease Monkey is After people's money is this business hurting so bad they have to do this type of practice The Manager at this place is not Honest and he is a Scammer For Sure but I Hold Grease Monkey for this type of Behavior. read more

Stop by Grease Monkey on Burlington Road. They change oil in about 30 minutes. They are a little over priced but most places are these days had to haggle to get $10 off. the major problem was they went in glove compartment to check cabin filter, put all the stuff in compartment was all over the floor, kind of unprofessional and didn't secure hood. Had to stop on highway to latch. read more

After going to get my oil changed at a chain "family name brothers" shop in Thomasville while passing through and then seeing a lot of oil in my driveway -- I stopped grease monkey after work one day to get the cap tightened and figure out how much oil I would need to buy from the store to replace what I lost. The two guys that helped me were super nice. They were the only two working and had the bays full but they still came and apologized for the wait and assured they would be with me soon. Once my car Was in a bag they immediately checked it out while I waited inside in the air condition- It was neat neat and tidy inside and felt very clean. Not only did they tighten the oil cap, they also cleaned all the oil off the bottom of the car, topped off with fresh oil, and sent me on my way without a charge- I was just astonished at this level of service. It truly felt like family taking care of me. A+ business. If all operated like this the world would be a kinder place. read more

This was the worst place I've ever been to. The older gentleman, I'm assuming he's the manager, he kept trying to up-sale me on numerous items. I knew as soon as he told me my battery was almost dead that they were trying to scam me because I changed my battery less than 3 months ago. He tried to say that my filters were growing bacteria when in reality they were fine. The guy that tried to change the oil from my 2009 Toyota Corolla, he could not take the oil filter off AND he damaged it as well, stating that if he broke it and took it off we would have to pay for the damages HE caused. They then proceeded to not mention that he had drained my oil and when I asked about the red oil light in my dash, they lied and said it was nothing. A couple seconds after leaving my engine starting to flicker. We had to come back and top off our oil because they lied to us. Went to have an oil change done. They had us pull up to the bay and walk to the waiting room. Upon sitting and waiting, the gentleman behind the counter was on the phone, presumably with a friend, talking about how he "knocked up a Hispanic chick and hopefully she don't wanna keep it" and then told him to "quit hitting it raw because they fertile as hell". While waiting, all of the guys out in the garage/bay area were yelling and goofing off the entire time. We could hear everything clear as day from inside. Not only is this establishment and staff inappropriate and unprofessional, but they advertise 15-30min oil changes and had us waiting an hour before they were finished and we were the only car in the bay. Got back in the vehicle to find when they opened the glove box to check the cabin filter, they shoved everything back in and ruined papers and photos that had been neatly inside beforehand. Definitely will be going anywhere but here from now on, do NOT recommend. read more
