I been taking my vehicles to Grease Monkey Garage since our family mechanic closed his business. Prices are reasonable, and the staff is pleasant. I may have to look for another mechanic as I am starting to see a pattern of half-ass workmanship. I brought my car in to Grease Monkey Garage for a minor repair and oil change service. On my way to the shop, I noticed that I had a low tire pressure alert. I told the shop that I wanted the oil change, check fluids, tire pressure etc. The repair was completed, and they said that they changed the oil & filter, fluids, and tire pressure [even stated it on the work order]. When I got into the car I noticed that the low tire pressure alert was still displaying. No mention of the light being on. It stayed on all the way home. How can I trust that they did anything else that they claimed to do? I don't have time to keep taking my vehicles back to the shop for something that should have been done the first time. I had a Trailblazer that a had a check engine light showing. I brought it to the Grease Monkey Garage, and the light came on again a few days later. I would also like to add the fact that parts of my vehicle are completely missing. I didn't realize until I was doing an oil change. Please steer clear of this place. I'm up to $2,200 that they've cost me and the original issue was never even fixed. read more

I've been going here for years when it was under a different name. I was there this month for an oil change and it took forever (for a drive-thru oil change); took over 30 mins once I got in the bay. The majority of the time they were trying to up-sell me on other services I didn't go there for. What really makes me score a 1 and the reason I will not be back is they removed far too many rivets to access my oil filter and failed to put them back. The oil filter doesn't look new either but may be cause the mechanics hands were oily) but rivets make me question it). Owner did reach out to "make it right" but I bought a rivets and fixed myself rather than go back. read more

I have been a customer of this shop for almost 20 years. Been happy with some jobs, less so with others. I have spent THOUSANDS in this garage. I needed a roll bar put in my jeep. Left it there are two separate days and Rick never got around to it because he said he wanted to make brackets and bolted incorrectly. Took it there a third day. I go to pick it up and he welded it in. A welding job that look like it was done by a kid on his first day of welding school with no adult supervision. Looks like it took maybe 10 minutes. Completely unsatisfactory. Now it will cost me more to have it taken out and done correctly. You should take better care of customers you've had for 20 years. I won't be back. read more

I visited GMG early June for my auto problem. I was shocked. The price was totally different than initially stated. The diagnosis did not make a sense. Although job was scheduled but after waiting one and a half hour I find out that he can not do the job and need to reschedule. Would I ever go again ??? Rick is a nice person and try to be helpful but I like to go to a place where the diagnosis is right and business stick by the price and do the job as scheduled. read more

For the past two months my 1984 Corvette a problem with the engine shutting off periodically at various times and then after sitting for a few hours it would start up again. I spent countless amounts of money at several garages and corvette speciality shops. I was at the point of getting ready to get rid of my dream car when a friend of mine suggested that I should take it to Grease Monkey auto repair in largo. Rick the Owner of the shop told me to give him a few hours to diagnose the problem and he would call me. A couple hours later Rick called and said that he found the problem and to make the repair was just a fraction of the cost of the money I had already spent trying to fix it. To my surprise the repair was made and just in a few short hours I was back on the road. The Corvette now runs like it did when it was brand new. Now its been a couple of months and no more problem with the engine shutting off. It runs great. Thank you Rick for bringing my car back to life and saving me money.
