Our original room was so unbearable due to loud footsteps and constant noise from the upstairs tenants, so we asked to switch. Unfortunately, both downstairs rooms were just as bad, if not worse. The walls would literally rattle with every step above us, and it was impossible to get any rest. I had to sleep with earplugs and played white noise from my iPad, and even then, my family and I barely slept. I've stayed at plenty of places and live in a Manhattan apartment, and I've never dealt with this level of noise and lack of soundproofing. This place was an absolute nightmare for anyone seeking even a basic night's rest. Although I had a very disappointing trip due to this, the only thing I can do now is warn others and hopefully prevent them from a sleepless night. Please go elsewhere! Our trip was in the middle of the week and not much tourists in the motel so this is clearly a structural issue.

Very accommodating and nice owners who take great pride in even behind the scenes details, like frequently switching out the pillows and mattresses. Breakfast is made fresh to order (scrambled eggs, bacon and an awesome and fresh homemade muffin--both blueberry and strawberry were delicious). Plus there's an assortment of fruit, bagels, toast and yogurt if you're on the go. Very affordable in the off season ($75) and also worth the high season full price ($150). Also, there's a great deli with lobster rolls across the street. And it's a short drive to Nubble Light House. Even considering staying here again on the drive home from Bar Harbor!

It's only steps to one of the most beautiful beaches in the northeast, and the oceanview from the screened-in porch is simply stunning. The house is light and bright and yet still very cozy. We lived there for ten months and literally walked our dog on the beach every single day...even in the snow! Aside from the house and location being exceptional, the landlords are wonderful and make sure everything is taken care of during your stay.
