Probably an odd starting statement for a 5 start review - but I think this is a great and unique…read moreplace but just not for me. --- Large area with multiple open bays and a great practice putting area, has more of a social aspect and I think it would be a great spot if you and friends wanted to rent a bay, or if you have kids and want to play with them on a simulator. I think if my kids were a little older I would really enjoy bringing them here. I booked one lesson and my coach was excellent gave me a great driver swing drill and identified a wrist hinge problem I had - I think it was well worth the price I paid for the lesson. So why wasn't it for me? I wanted an area for more focused practice where I just come in to my bay get my swings in and can practice with cameras and their competitor down the street fits that need a little better for me. They are very different venues and both have pros and cons - if you're like me and want a pure practice schedule with lessons then it may not be as good of a choice. If however, you want to bring kids or use the simulator with friends I think its a great spot.

After all my lessons, I can say this is the best investment in ANY of the money I've spent on golf…read more Dropped a bunch of strokes from my game (was high 90s, now hovering around 90 and threatening high 80s!!) , not losing anywhere near the number of golf balls due to errant shots. Makes going out and playing a round so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend GOLFTEC and Mike Deiters to really improve your game!!

I have completed 12 or so lessons and here are my experiences and I think what you can expect - and…read morewhat I would maybe do differently 1) I do well with the instant video feedback, more often then not I don't realize how jacked up certain parts of my swing are but when you can see it in front of you it makes a huge difference - I feel like Chris my coach was able to pick up a key or two in my swing to fix every time 2) The overall package prices are steep - no doubt about it, I picked up golf later in life after I finished residency/fellowship but certainly I wouldn't have been able to afford it prior to that. I didn't ask/enquire about financing or other payment options but I'd imagine that maybe is an option for some. However, if you factor in what I paid per lesson plus the 'free' 90 minutes of bay time a week it actually isn't a bad deal. 3) for me I took advantage of several of the fittings as well (driver, hybrid, woods) also they do have demo clubs of all the latest models so before I did my fittings I tried all the latest ping, taylormade, callaway, mizuno, titleist clubs during my practice sessions. 4) I would say you should have a good idea of what you actually want to work on - my mistake was working on irons every lesson for my first 7/8 lessons, I wish I would have sprinkled in a driver lesson earlier as I'm only really working on it now. 5) My kids are a little young to be golfing but I do see families come in where a teen is getting a lesson while their (presumably) parent is in the bay next door getting practice in which is also pretty cool - not sure how many places you could do that. There is some downtime typically when you are waiting for a bay if you get there early but the putting green in the main area is great so I generally just mess around there. My pro (chris) is great and certainly a lot of fun to work with would recommend him to anyone visiting.

I worked with Doug for a new fitting before purchasing new irons. He was knowledgeable and…read morefriendly and really helped me find the right clubs for me. I ended up purchasing my new irons that day and he sent the order off to PING to get them together. Took a bit over a week to get the clubs in, but well worth the help. I came into the fitting thinking I knew what I needed/wanted. After hitting several different clubs, and reviewing the data with Doug, I ended up with a set of irons that I had written off weeks before just because I thought they were not what I needed. I was sorely mistaken and an so pleased that I let Doug take the wheel and guide me through the process. Doug took everything I had to say about the feel of each club. I ignored the stats up on the screen until the very end and let him "fine tune" what he saw to find my ideal clubs. Only then did he give me his professional opinion on which clubs were best for me based on the stats. I was a wonderful experience and I highly suggest that anyone who wants to get new clubs to get a professional fitting. Clubs off the rack just don't cut it if you are trying to shaves strokes and lower your handicap. GET FIT!! You will be glad you did. I plan on scheduling a swing evaluation with Doug soon to further sharpen my game and lower my handicap. They offer lessons as well and practice space on the latest tech and equipment. There are other places around to get a custom fitting, and some may offer it for free with a purchase of a new set. But these guys are professionals and have excellent judgment on what players need. Trust in them so you can trust in your game.

I was recommended to Golftec by two friends of mine who took lessons there. So I signed up for a…read more10 lesson package, which even with a discount was pretty pricey, over $700. Nonetheless, I went into the process very hopeful that I would see some very good progress on improving my swing. My coach's name was Brian. Brian was an nice enough fellow, but seemed to have very little interest in me personally. The first session was a swing assessment lasting approximately 30 mins long. Here Brian tried to identify, all of the issues I needed to work on. He wrote them on a white board, and there were at least a dozen or more. Brian said he would send me his notes from the assessment, but I did not receive them, so when I came for my first actual lesson, I asked if I could get a copy. Brian said the had lost the notes! During the next 3 weeks, we worked on a number of swing changes. However, it wasn't until the 4th lesson that Brian said, "I forgot you need to change your grip". So for 3 lessons, I'm using the wrong grip, and practicing with the wrong grip. Speaking of practice, I did come in regularly for my practice sessions. Often Brian was there, and not one time did he ask me if I had any questions, or what I was working on...zero interest! Eventually, I tore a tendon in my right hand and had to stop after 7 lessons...essentially losing the final 3 lessons due to the time limit imposed by the club. All in all, I was NOT impressed with the process, nor with my coach. However, I did think the video equipment was a nice feature...only reason I'm giving two stars. I would recommend taking lessons from a professional instead. Good luck, and keep it in the short grass!

When a big German Shepard barked at a man teeing off on the 12th hole he backed away slowly. A…read morewise move. "In these back country farms areas there are just two things you need to worry about: dogs and tornados," Nicole L said while we were out jogging. I never grew up with these concerns. In my youth when unleashed dogs rushed me in the open grassy fields I instinctively froze and watched under a trapped breath, feeling my heart pounding in my ears thinking "just let it sniff me and run off" and I walked away cautiously keeping an eye on him. Looking up into the dark skies with little flickers which loomed in the distance, I said not to worry...we'd be home sweet home before the that storm hit us. With a third of a mile left however the thunder was right over us and light rain flicked at us on our backs. We heard the siren go off at the Homestead Golf course which we were about to pass and decided to make a beeline for the clubhouse instead of chancing it amongst the light show around us. Lest we turn into two ashy crisps. We were thankful we did because moments later the rain was a downpour and thunder was roaring. The Van Knife Family built these links in 1965 but had been farming here when they homesteaded it since 1814. Grandfather Dolan was the first to put a stick our hands, claiming golf was the gateway to success in a myriad of business connections, however my desire to run cross country and track and field prevailed. Nevertheless, grateful for the lessons he imparted. This is truly a game against yourself. Years of hooked and sliced balls saw only marginal returns. Labors (of love?) without fruit. Farther in law kicks my butt every time we play so I am grateful when we play Scramble and can be on the same team. Homestead is close by and we frequent whenever we are visiting and we love it. After 15 minutes of waiting the rain was still strong, but the lighting had passed. Nicole said "this might be one of those clouds that just hangs around!" I took my chances in the rain, running as fast as I could. "Don't dillydally and hurry back with the car." Runners are not often respected especially if we have to share the road with cars. Cars don't like slowing down for us and vice versa, but it is an unwinable battle so the best we can hopeful for is civil discourse. I didn't recognize him in his white SUV at first. The man inside had given me a thumbs up that I had mistaken for the middle finger as the vehicle came to a slow down probably to tell me to get on the grassy shoulder. But I was running full speed and had to think about picking up Nicole. After the car went past it hit me, oops that was my father-in-law, and my ride back home! Thankfully he pulled around at the end of the road. I hopped in his car, got out of rain, and we picked up Nicole. We laughed when it was all over, warming ourselves on a hot bowl of chicken and vegetable soup.
