This used to be my favorite spot for arepas, but after today's experience, I won't be coming back…read more I called ahead and clearly explained my order: three arepa orders, with one having the masa scooped out. I also specifically asked about the price and was told it would be $13 per order, consistent with what's listed online. However, when I arrived, I was told the orders would be charged separately, and the employee became visibly frustrated when I asked for clarification and requested that everything be grouped as discussed. What made the situation worse was the pricing. I was charged $15 per order, which didn't match what I was told over the phone, nor what's listed online or even on Yelp (where it shows around $10). When I politely questioned the discrepancy, the employee became argumentative and made the interaction uncomfortable. I paid, because that's not the issue--but being treated dismissively and feeling misled is. Pricing should be consistent and clearly communicated, and customers shouldn't feel like they're being taken advantage of for asking reasonable questions. Really disappointing experience from a place I used to enjoy.

Have you ever wished for a nice cold coffee drink on a hot day or a warm arepas? Well you've come…read moreto the right cafe. Cafe Bolívar (est 2001) is a cute corner South American coffee shop on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. They have good selection of coffee & tea drinks, selective pastries, salads, breakfast, and special arepas. This cafe has a calming atmosphere with background music that's not too loud, and the staff are skilled. I came on a sunny warm afternoon to grab a cold drink/light lunch. I had a Cold Brew and Chicken Arepas. I enjoyed their refreshing cold brew coffee drink but so much on the pollo arepas. Its chicken was dry; arepas outside was crispy and crunchy but the inside was not moist. Moreover, their size was bloody small. Cafe's interior was naturally bright and aesthetically decorated. Indoor/outdoor seats were comfortable. Prices of the drinks were fair, however, arepas seem expensive. Service was on point. Staff were cordial. Free wifi. Plenty of street parking. Overall, it's a nice coffee shop.

Aside from being a cute and cozy spot to take in a refreshingly sunny day, the Arepa Stand really is holding up and manages to STAND out from the flavor giants commanding the bustling corner of Venice and Beethoven like Saby's and BBQ +Rice and their delectable cultural flavors. With just an initial try, The Westsider arepa prepared à la Zeus, how I'll affectionately call it from now on, comes with plantains for an extra touch of Latin America's culinary staple. Definitely will be back to give something else a try! Thank you Zeus for the taste of Venezuela you're sharing with the neighborhood.

I ordered the Red Chilli Queen (red chilli tendered chicken with red pickled onions, avocado & cheese) and the 405 (shredded beef with black beans and avocado- taste to me was a bit sweet in the beef almost like a mole flavor but not chocolatey. I really loved the Red Chilli Queen- must try! They are fully packed with protein especially the 405. Hard to find arepas where the masa is cooked to perfection- crispy and a good amount of masa so it's not so thick which can be extremely filling. I would give this place 5/5 however the outdoor seating was filled with flies . There was droppings from previous customers that appeared had been sitting there since opening. The flies were bad, I would have preferred to takeout- this may have been a unique situation but still my overall experience.

We went with the cheese bread and the mixed plate. You could have fed 4 grown men. This is where you appreciate true to ethnicity food. No messing...no pretending and no nonsense. I don't think I could have bought the ingredients, seasoned and cooked this for any less than what we paid. The table next to us ordered the fried fish...as full as I was...I wanted to taste that fish. La Finda Antioquena, thank you for a great experience. We will recommend this place and WE WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

The woman (Sandra) who came up to our table was to ask us to move to a smaller table. Mind you we sat there so we could watch the World Cup game as we waited and ate. She was so rude about it!!! Then the waiter to finally came to take our order was also rude. Didn't greet us, they lack manners. I liked one of the empanadas but they have a different name, other than that their food was bland tasteless. I came here with a Colombian friend who wanted to try Colombian food in LA she liked her plate but it was the most simple thing you could order, steak rice and beans. Would never go back here ever... oh also the place was filthy they should keep their tables and floors clean come on.
