That being said, I have been making it a priority to stay close to home for shopping and to get smaller portions at a time. So the trips to Mayflower have been more frequent. Long exposition right? It's a nice liquor store that carries beer, wine and booze. Lots of canned wine options, which works well for warm weather parties or park excursions. They even have Laws Whiskey small packs for gifts if that's how you roll. Prices are reasonable and the store is kept very clean. As I said before, I'm starting to make this a regular part of my shopping rotation.

I had a great whiskey convo with a gentleman with an epic mustache and each employee was just as friendly and knowledgable as the last. Having been collecting for years now, I try to gravitate towards single barrel selections - a great way to get a twist on a known taste/profile. I was guided towards pick, after pick, after pick. I ended up walking away with 4 store picks - and they are all delicious (2 of which are arguably the best of that brand I've ever had). Sufficient to say I will be back, I will most likely prioritize a stop next time I'm in Denver (I'm based in Chicago). I've had my fair share of barrel picks and given the quality and consistency of the ones I've had from there, I can tell their pick team/process is absolutely top tier. I was immediately told that boxes are strictly for customers. When I offered to buy something, the cashier doubled down and told me that buying "just a beer" didn't count. There were well over a dozen divided boxes sitting right there--the exact kind liquor stores receive by the truckload with practically every shipment. Gatekeeping routine packaging that cycles through the building daily, while actively dictating what kind of purchase "qualifies" as a real customer, is an absurd level of petty. It takes real effort to turn a harmless, standard request into such a frustrating interaction. If parting with a single shipping box is where Argonaut draws the line, I'll happily take my business somewhere with a little common sense.

He was clearly super knowledgeable about tequila and was really happy to discuss chat about their huge selection of hand picked labels. There was no condescension or arrogance as he educated me about the different labels. He ended up steering me towards a lower priced, but still quality label, since I was mostly using it for mixing. They also carry beers, wines, and other liquors, so I will be back to check out those selections as well. What a great find!
