I was an LA Fitness member for years when I lived in Columbus, so it was disappointing to return…read moreand have such a poor experience driven by a rigid, shortsighted policy. I booked the free three-day trial online, but when I arrived I was told I needed a local ID--a requirement I never confirmed during booking. As a result, I was denied both the trial and a week pass and offered only a $20 day pass. To make matters worse, this location doesn't even provide towels for the showers. It's hard to justify the pricing when the amenities don't match. By contrast, The Athletic Cos (Italian Village) offered a free one-day trial and a week pass for $35, making the experience far more welcoming and reasonably priced.

READ: - the best part about this gym are the huge windows,…read morethere's a lot of great natural light. There's also a million treadmills......so many.... - A lack of equipment which was made worse when they took away their first floor stretch/focus room and replaced it with personal training only. This not only took away extra lower extremity equipment which can already be hard to come by on floor 2, but now I have no place to do a quiet work out. The dim lighting was great. -They do not have enough benches. Barring floor 1 off now means 3 less benches. - I'm still paying the same monthly price for 1 less floor of equipment. Shrinkflation? Idk, I just want my space back - plus it takes like 2 months to fix equipment.

Solid gym. They have a new flagship location called the armory a few miles up the road. This review…read moreserves for both. GPF is 24/7 and has plenty of equipment, just about everything you need. Really nice in the warmer months as they open up the garage doors and air the place out. Can get crowded though in the late afternoon/ early evening (like most gyms) especially with space being a little tight. Cost is 60 a month plus initiation. The armory is a much larger facility and literally has every piece of lifting and cardio equipment possible. Is not open 24/7 but is from 6am to 10 pm most days. Staff has always been quite friendly. Cost for this place is 100 a month which also gives you access to GPF. This was one of the main reasons I left as the cost was prohibitive for my friends to join. They opened this facility about a year ago so I was grandfathered with my GPF membership. Another thing to note is in terms of facilities they had been open about 9 months when I left and at that time didn't have locker rooms and as fast as I knew no plans for when they would open (but they did prioritize opening other more expensive training areas). As of when I left, they had 2 bathrooms to share with the entire weight floor and the basketball court. The armory does have a basketball court but they share it with a grade school as well as several other groups so there is virtually no open court time regardless of the time of year. Big downside of the armory is that to access any of the nice recovery equipment (massage guns, cold tubs, etc), you have to be a shield member which is 195 a month plus initiation. That price point is frankly excessive in my opinion. Both gyms are pretty serious lifting gyms, so if that is the vibe you are wanting then this is definitely your spot. Probably less suited to the more casual lifters (like me). Certainly not a bad thing, more just an FYI. All that being said, solid facility, great place to lift if you are willing to pay for it.

After becoming a member I was quickly impressed with the sheer amount of weights that this gym has to offer. With a complete set of dumbbells and equipment this gym has it all (except a vaccine for shingles!!!). It is definitely a step up from my Wednesday Pilates class, but so far I LOVE IT!!! #adventuresofchevius

I've been attending the Spot for a year now, and the quality of training cannot be beat…read more Previous to joining The Spot I had a couple years experience of doing crossfit. My primary goals are to stay fit, learn to lift weights, and improve my health in a way that was fun. I get bored and side tracked easily. I like group classes because the regular schedule and coaching keeps me on task and committed. If you are someone who is looking at crossfit or had done it before, and you're looking for something that makes sense but is a generalized routine, this is the place for you. The only difference is that The Spot actually makes sense. Their training routines are designed to get you fit in an intelligent way, not in a way that is unnecessarily intense and frustrating for the sake of being intense. What really impresses me about The Spot is their intelligent and insightful coaches. I have learned and changed a lot about my body and body mechanics since being here. On my first day a coach noticed my back was hurting from a lift and we have since spent the last year being given the appropriate exercises I needed to lift properly and utilize muscles that were previously under utilized. I'm no longer riddled with constant back pain from working out. The quality of my lifts such as front and back squats and deadlifts have improved because I am using my core to stabilize now. The GAINZ have been more than what I have lifted on the bar, but also how well it feels now. The primary set up of a workout session at the Spot goes as such: warm up, main lifting block, then 2 or 3 circuits focused on accessories and conditioning. It's impossible to feel bored. Much of the accessory work involves balance and stability exercises, which I have noticed have really paid off especially in the leg strength environment. The place is very open to a range of body types and back grounds. I've never been very athletic, but all the exercises are designed so that everyone is doing the same thing and no one is ever ahead or behind, yet everyone is being appropriately challenged. I exercise alongside incredible athletes, and I also get to watch new comers get a great workout while being included with the class the whole time. I highly recommend The Spot. I will probably be attending as long as I am in Columbus and The Spot is open. My favorite coaches are Billy, Steve, Levi, Jay, and Maeve. They all know their stuff. They know how to be encouraging. They now how to be patient and listen to you. They're all affable and fun. The owner is very passionate about what he does.

Cale is a great trainer and the junior/senior classes are well run and the class size is perfect for the kids to learn and grow as athletes. Of late, they have been taking Billy's class on Friday and he's incredible. He really hones in on the small details and gets the best out of both of them. Anna is a new instructor and is great as well, has a lot of enthusiasm and attention to detail as well. Claire is a rock star for communication and getting their accounts set up. Highly recommend for all ages, from youth to the adults, the instructors care about their members and want them all to get the most out of their experiences.
