I learned recently (from a fellow yelper) that potato chips were "created" in Saratoga Springs. I had no idea this fabulous city gave us the favorite snack of America, maybe the world. According to the legend, a chef was frustrated by a customer who kept sending his fried potatoes back for being too thick. the chef finally sliced them very thin, fried them and sent them back to the customer, who, to the chefs surprise, loved them. They soon became a staple on the menu. (I am aware having now researched this a little, that chips may have originated in various places along the way. The sweetest souls work here and the animal feeding area/petting zoo is incredible! When you arrive at Taylor Farms, you step into the cute little country store stationed at the beginning of the farm. The store is stocked with farm products like yummy cheeses and icecreams but also food and home products from local businesses like soaps, etc. My daughter picked out a scoop of her favorite VT icecream, maple walnut and wandered the store. I stumbled upon the "feed our animals" station near the store exit. You can buy the farm animals food and feed them yourself! The store associate welcomed us to go see the animals even if we didn't buy any food for them. You could tell she really loved them. We bought a variety pack for the animals which consisted of carrots, an apple, a bag of homemade cheeseits, and chicken feed (corn meal?). My daughter had a ball feeding the donkey, cows, chickens and cat! We had a ball watching her experience new things and support a local farm! We hope to come back someday soon!

It won't be an easy decision as I am always torn between several flavors. Currently I am in love with their rich dark chocolate and wine ice cream alongside a scoop of pistachio. However on this particular trip I have fallen for their delicious Dubai chocolate pistachio ice cream alongside their dark cherry ice cream.
