Is there a word limit? If so, I will exceed it with this post! I won't apologize for it either…read more.. I can not believe the service I received today! I had already called four tree service company's and had them come to my home to give out quotes. Let's just say the prices ranged from understandable to ridiculous. When Bobby came over, he blew me away. His gift for gab and balance of professionalism and knowledge hooked me. His quote was fair, but the whole package he was selling me... was more than fair. Day of arrival: We were told Bobby and his team would be here at 9 a.m. They showed up at 8:30. As trucks and equipment lined up Bobby greeted me and waved at my babies, who were super excited at the window. We discussed in detail what his plans were and safety precautions while his team worked. This gave me the tingles as I am that helicopter parent who loves to talk safety(lol). As I was going to enter my home he stopped me and asked if we didn't mind moving two of the vehicles on the street a little further down, as an extra precaution. I of course had no problems with that!!! Bobby then did something very rare and touching, a small gesture of decency. He offered to move them for me. Kindness seems rare these days don't you think? Most take and take some more. Two trees were supposed to be cut on this day. One in my front yard which may have been up to 70 feet. And a massive pine which was close to tipping on a neighbor's house--given we had a bad storm. This tree was well over 170 feet. (in my opinion lol) Time for action: With my two little ones staring bright eyed through the screen door, Brandon (which my kids re-named Mr. George of the Jungle) began to maneuver around this tree like he and it were one. The team on the ground including Bobby didn't miss a beat. As one branch fell they were picking it up and taking it to the tree grinder. Looking and making sure nothing was falling above them...Constant communication and leadership by Bobby and their headphone helmets , my kids called them, they busted that sucker down by 10:47 a.m. Oh, did I not mention that I should have been a foreman? I was all over this project like no one's business. I was just fascinated by it all. Time for round two: So, somehow we thought clear our back yard meant pick up kids toys and really it meant clear out the BACKYARD...Bless these guys, next thing I know they had literally pulled my kids play-set out of the earth and placed it in a safe place on the other side from where they planned on cutting the tree. They also moved other heavy items that I cannot move myself. I am truly grateful. I don't do this for a living and have no clue what they expected, they didn't say a word, they just smiled when I apologized for my ignorance and gave huge grins and said, "no problem we got it." There seemed to be a lot of discussion regarding that back pine. Every other branch, me and my girls would see them stop, look at Brandon in the tree (excuse me..George of the Jungle) and then get back to work. At some point most of the branches were gone and in the wood chipper, when a few more men from his crew arrived with different trucks and a stump grinding machine. Then new gentlemen fell into the job like it was already planned out. By 2:30 p.m they had half the pine (from the top) falling to the soft ground with a massive thud. Timber.... my girls screamed in excitement. The crew was on that tree like ants on candy. They cleared that massive mess up and hauled it out to the front where their vehicles were at--in no time. It was like a well planned military mission. 2:59 p.m. Job COMPLETED! NO injuries, all wood and debris cleared. Wait, out front while I was filming the tree falling out back, two men were getting prepped to grind the stump from the tree cut earlier. 3:15 stump was getting taken care of. It was like watching a dance occur. People moving in sync, messes disappearing, and in the end my flippen yards looked better than they did before they came. WHO DOES THAT??????? Trees & More...that's WHO! Let's now talk about what happened in regards to integrity, pride in one's job and being a good HUMAN being. They noticed during the end of cutting the big pine that my neighbors' broken down fence was shifting more than it already was leaning(bless that fence lol). The vibrations of the wood falling was responsible for that. Anywho, without a word, they began to stand that fence upright and put some wood up from--I have no clue-- and made their fence presentable and gave them back some privacy. All I am going to say is if I had extra to give...that tip would have been enormous!!! I wanted to cry as 5:08 p.m. rolled around with the boys rolling out:( I cannot express in words what I feel in my heart for those men. My mother and myself, could and normally would have been taken advantage of and in most situations when women are the ones in charge or bargaining that happens. It is what it is. Not with this company.

Frankly, I was nervous about the prospect of damage to my newly shingled roof - so I needed a very reliable and safe removal service. I tend to "over-research" things ("Fail to plan, plan to fail" - John Wooden, UCLA). So I got five (5) estimates. I selected Mountain to Sea Tree Service because of four factors: 1. Safety 2. Fair Price 3. Excellent Reviews 4. Safety Yeah - I counted safety twice. I worry (about the roof, folks working at our place being safe, etc). After spending a lot of time researching (Insured? Yes. Bonded? Yes. Excellent rep and ratings, both by customers and BBB? Yes), I met Andrew Stillman, owner of Mountain to Sea, and we walked my property. Unlike one tree service owner who does a lot of work in our area, Andrew did not "leave his truck running, race around in a rush fast-talking price before he even saw the trees". Andrew explained everything, his approach and experience, and any concerns I had evaporated. Although I rank price below safety, he was also the most competitive with price by far, and that I believe is because the other services planned to use a Crane (adding cost) over several days. Andrew learned the business with the large trees on the West coast and handled it the old fashioned way, no expensive crane sitting at my place for days. I was stunned with the precision with which each branch and limb was cut and lowered, even the most precarious ones hanging far above our roof. Andrew climbed, cut, and his team carefully and gently lowered each limb in a manner that was downright surgical and gentle. Cleanup? I've had a lot of experience with companies at our properties (three house roofs reshingled, two barn roofs, trees removed, etc), and Andrew's crew goes above and beyond, cleaning as they work. My place actually looked "better and cleaner" when they were finished. Andrew and his crew are very polite, friendly, and personable. We highly recommend Mountain to Sea Tree Service. They are safe, bonded and insured, very very skilled, and their prices are fair and competitive.

I called Chimney Corner Lawnmower, Inc. to have a pre-purchased deck belt put onto my Sabre Lawn…read moreMower. They said it would be a flat rate of $95. They would pick up and drop off the mower, and I would pay when they drop off. They then took my name address and phone number and told me they would call when they were finished, which may be at the beginning of the following week. I agreed, and they came that night to get the mower. They started the mower and drove it onto the ramp of their truck, loaded it, and left. I did not hear from them afterwards. The next week I called to check on the status of the lawn mower. They said it was finished, and the cost is $243. I told them this was not what we agreed on, and they put the owner on the phone. He then informed me that the mower needed a new starter, blades, and various other parts in order for it to work well. I told him that no one called me to authorize this, and I only wanted them to put the belt that I purchased on. He said, "This is not our policy." I then told him that I will only pay for the installation of the belt. He told me that I cannot have my lawn mower until I pay $243. I told him to take off everything else that he changed, and put my old parts back. He refused and proceeded to tell me I have to pay $243. That night I called back and said that I was going to give him the opportunity to make this right. He then said, "well, you can pay $243 to get your lawn mower back" He continually cut me off to say I cannot have my lawn mower until I pay. He never once apologized for tampering with my personal property without permission (excluding the belt and parts to install it). Nor did he offer me any type of discount or means to make up for his mistake. I believe that it is this company's policy to scam people into thinking they will do the service that is requested, and add on additional services and parts in order to make more money. This company cannot continue with this faulty policy of neglecting to inform their costumers of what is being done to their personal belongings. **If you take your car to get an oil change, and they decide to put in a new transmission and charge you for it without asking your permission, would you accept this? We specifically told…read morethe owner that we wanted to walk him through the yard to show him exactly what we wanted done since he had never been here. We confirmed a date for a Wednesday. He showed up on Tuesday instead without letting us know. We were not home but he proceeded to scalp our shrubs and holly trees. When we arrived home, he was almost finished and we were horrified at what he and his workers had done. He cut off approximately 12 - 18 inches from the tops of the hollies that we were growing for privacy. Additionally, he cut all 12 of our daylily plants down to the ground, cut the bushes in front of the house almost to the ground at one point and did not even shape them so now they look like very short hedges instead of bushes. He chopped off about 18 - 24 inches from the top of a large butterfly bush that we were grooming into a tree. Plus every shrub on our property was cut back at least by one or two year's growth. We paid thousands of dollars for this landscaping and we were grooming all of it over these past three years. Now it's ruined because Scotty's Landscaping came onto our property when we weren't home and proceeded to scalp everything without discussing this with us. A simple phone call from him before he showed up could have avoided this disaster. We are heartsick over this.
