I know it's a Super 8, not the Ritz, but man, it looked like the dingy lodgings of the killer in an old horror movie. On the plus side: no bed bugs, decent pillows. And not a lot of neighbor noise. Plenty of hot water, and the WiFi, while sporadic, did work on occasion. Verdict? If you stay here, get the room on sale ahead of time. The walk-in price, which I heard someone else pay as I waited to check in, is absolutely not worth it.

My company rented rooms here because the other hotel in town was full. From what I saw of Beaver Dam, it appears to be a nice town, but this hotel falls short in so many ways. If my training class wasn't located 3 and half hours away, I would have commuted. If you are desperate and no other choice I would recommend bringing shower shoes and air freshener. I would also recommend being up ti date in all immunizations before your stay. For the most part, the staff was friendly and far less disgruntled than I would have been if I had to work there.

I have been coming to Beaver Dam for as long as I can remember and have walked past The Rogers…read morecountless times without giving it thought. Recently, I brought some friends with me and we decided to investigate. I'm still not sure what The Rogers is. Flophouse? Senior assisted living? Hotel? Whatever it is, a peek in the lobby gives a great indication of what The Rogers was...a grand hotel of Beaver Dam. My friends and I nosed around the lobby for about 15 minutes and didn't see a soul. Granted, this was Thanksgiving Day, so they probably gave the staff the day off. There were old "electric" signs from the 20's stating that the "Ladies Waiting Room" was upstairs, while the "Gentleman's Waiting Room" was downstairs. There was an amazing old fashioned front desk with mail cubbies on the wall behind it for each room. The parlor had the most phenomenal fireplace I have ever seen built into the wall. Also, the parlor housed one of the most fabulous pieces of furniture (probably at least 100 years old) that came very close to being strapped on our backs and carried out the door. We discovered pictures on the wall of previous hotel workers, which was slightly reminiscent of The Shining, and we marveled over the light fixtures. My aunt lives down the street, so I'll probably never have an occasion to stay at The Rogers but a quick self-guided tour was a fascinating little peek into a well kept time capsule.

I came with ear plugs and a sleeping mask so it worked out for me. The furniture is a bit sparse all around, but still a nice inn and place to stay. The parking is free and there is plenty around the building and it was nice to be close by a coffee shop. The inn provides a lot of food recommendations and things to do nearby. If I had time I would have checked out the Horicon marsh to go birding.
