I've been going to this place since I was little (15 years on and off) , and the barbers there are very welcoming and friendly. I would say 90% of the time my haircut comes out good! But some of the barbers there can be alittle rough with the blade/clippers when it comes to shape ups and causes inconsistent haircuts. I eventually had to find a new barber that's more consistent. But still a great place, and the owner is a really cool guy! read more

Grand Palace is grand and on Grand. Grand Palace is a great barber shop in Baldwin. They use to be up a few store fronts, but now they're right on the corner of Grand and Merrick. Old review has disappeared as that was for the previously location so gonna sum things up here. There are no real downsides to the barber shop. I'll highlight a few great things about the place. There are plenty of barbers so you won't have to wait long if at all. The prices are great, much better than most places. They're not the cheapest in town, though that's not really what you want. I went to a super cheap barber shop and got what I paid for. Never again. The place is well lit and the barbers are good and friendly. Best thing about this place is the hot towel shave. I've gotten hot towel shaves at plenty of places, but no where comes close to Grand Palace. First they'll massage your face with warm water. They'll then apply some hot shaving cream and a hot towel over it. Wait a few minutes, they'll come back and apply a bit more hot shaving cream then start the shave. No safety razors here. I've been to places that do that. Can't understand why they'd do that considering I can do that at home. Anyway, back to the review. After giving you the once over, you'll get a nice gel massage followed by another hot towel. Barber comes back and gives you the second go over. Cool towel and done. It's great. Again, other places will not take the time to give you a proper shave. You'll get a one hot towel or they'll be cheap with the shaving cream, meanwhile they're shaving your face dry. Maybe that's just been my experience, but this is the luxury car of hot towel shaves. If you're in need of a cut or a hot towel shave, I couldn't recommend Grand Palace more. Absolutely terrible experience. My wife brought my 2.5 year old son for a haircut. 1st their attitude was very poor. Barber acted as if he didn't want to be there let alone cutting cutting a child's hair. 2nd the haircut itself was done very poorly. They did not stick to what my wife requested. After leaving my wife noticed there was a half an inch difference on one side of his hair to the other. My wife brought him back immediately and was given even more attitude and due to uneven cut done originally my sons hair is much shorter than we had wanted and is still uneven is some spots. When my wife brought this up she was essentially told she didn't know what she's taking about. Personally we will never come back and if our experience is indicative of how they treat other customers I'd advise everyone to steer clear . read more

My husband and teenage son went to Grand place to get haircuts but they were scalped instead! My son told the barber "not too short". His hair is now about a 16th of a inch long. The cut took about 6 minutes and it looks like it! It was not brushed off. I touched his hair and little pieces of hair are all over my hands. I know hair grows back but the cut was for the first day of school. First impressions mean a lot. Don't go to this shop. They just don't care! read more

I've been coming to this barber shop since I was very young. I've literally never left completely happy with my hair but thought I thought that was standard at barber shops until I asked for possibly the the simplest cut one could imagine (a buzz cut). And I still left feeling very stupid, there were spots left uncut Nd they decided without asking to shave a straight line at least a centimeter back from my natural hairline that I don't think needs to be shaped.
