Our journey with Grand Master Chung Tae Kwon Do began years ago, even before we had children. We were always impressed by the program, At the time, I would accompany my husband to watch his niece practice and compete in tournaments. His niece went on to become a black belt. We were so proud. When our children arrived, we did exactly that. We enrolled our son when he was just 4 years old, and now at 9, the progress he has made is incredible. Over the years, he has developed strong focus, concentration, and discipline that carry over into all areas of his life. Watching his growth has been truly rewarding. We were so impressed with the program that we also enrolled our daughter at age 3 in the Saturday classes. She is now 5, in the regular program, and doing very well. Both of our children have advanced to higher belts and continue to grow in skill and confidence. This school has had a very positive impact on both of them. I had recently had my sons 6yr old birthday party here. I cant say how much fun he and his friends had. It was great !!!! The instructors were amazing, and i mean amazing with the kids. his classmates are mostly girls and i think they had more fun then the boys. All and all, i cant say enough how well it went. We signed up our 2 year old for a 1 year membership in October. In December, master Chung already asked for more money: he wanted to sell the next year's 1 year membership! He then announced there is a mandatory tournament in May that costs $150, which I refused to pay. This is not a tournament - it's like an extra lesson with medals - it's just a way to get more cash, and I didn't fall for it. And here it is when it went all sour with master Chung: he didn't want to move my son to the next class as a punishment for not having participated in the tournament! I brought this unfair act to his attention, he gave in but in the end that was it, we just waited for the year to finish and left on a bad note. Quick notes: - prices vary all the time, at discretion, and nothing is in black and white. Every parent got charged differently. - master Chang doesn't teach, just sits in the office shouting at his staff and taking payments. - of the 30 mins lesson, 15 is idle time waiting in line for your turn. - a piece of fabric called belt costs a whopping $60. - if you sign in, get ready to shell out a lot of cash constantly or face confrontation, like I did. - the place is a bit run down compared to other schools in the area. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: TKD IS NOT A DISCIPLINE FOR TODDLERS, THE CORRECT STARTING AGE IS 6/7 YEARS OLD, WHEN THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND THE SENSE OF IT, THE PHILOSOPHY OF IT. We started the class with 7 other kids. Only 1 continued while all others​ complained about the same things​ I described here. Master Chung gives kids self-confidence and strength through his TKD teaching. Both of my kids have been working towards their black belts for a few years now and I am very happy with their progress. They have been taught to take responsibility for themselves and work towards goals. As the kids progress through their belts they are also required to help the younger kids learn their forms. I can't say enough good things about Grandmaster Chung's school. I had been looking for the perfect school for my 5 year old daughter. I wanted a school that would give my child individual attention and not just treat her like a number. After a short time at the school, my daughter has blossomed, learn how to use the nunchucks and can count in Korean up to 50. She's excited every time we come and takes at least 2 classes each time. My 5 year old daughter attends tae kwon do at this location and we are very satisfied with how they are able to socially distance the children during class. The children are 10 feet apart and the class size is no more than 6 children in a relatively large space. The area is well ventilated and my daughter receives one to one undivided attention each session. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting . The area is disinfected every 30 mins and each person entering has a temperature check and is mandated to use hand sanitizer before participating. Will highly recommend. Chung USA Kids is a wonderful school for kids. My son earned his black belt here and he's still part of the school assisting the teachers. I was so satisfied with the training he received that I signed up my 4-year old daughter even though we recently moved and I have to travel 45 minutes each way. Grand Master Chung is very attentive to all students and his teachers stand for the same values that he does. Signing up my son and daughter was the best thing I could have done to instill in them the values of discipline and respect, in addition to learning the art of Tae Kwon Do. read more

My brother and I went to Master Chung when we were younger, and there was only one place to bring my kids when they grew up. My kids - 9 and 7 - have been having fun, while learning to defend themselves. One advantage to the school is that it's kids only, so they can focus. Also, the instructors have been with Master Chung for many years, so they really understand how to teach and connect with kids. I would not have thought about going elsewhere and I am so glad we came here! read more

BEWARE of the Free Introductory Membership Offer... the owner seems to think that because money has not transferred hands he isn't liable for the safety of the children in the room. If my child is enrolled for a "free membership" as far as I am concerned (and legally) she is a member and the rules that apply to the other students also apply to her. Today I had to step out of the facility for about 15 minutes while my daughter was in class. At the end of class Master Chung informed me that I am "not allowed" to leave the facility because my daughter "is not a student of his" and proceeded to be extremely disrespectful and rude when I pointed out that this was not in any of the paperwork nor was it ever verbally communicated. He continued to say "but she's not my student". After reading some of the reviews on here (which I regret not reading before going there) it seems clear to me that this is not a place where you want to spend your money or send your kids to learn about respect and self-discipline. Master Chung should work on these himself and learn some customer service. Maybe then he won't have to put his dojo on groupon and give lessons away for free because people will feel valued and refer others. And to add insult to injury, classes are always running behind schedule. read more

My child has transformed under Master Chung and his Tae Kwon Do program. He loves it and I could not imagine him succeeding like this anywhere else. He has become focused, patient and communicates better now that ever. He enjoys the lessons, Belts and stripes are rewarded within a reasonable time and the dedication to my son has surpassed my expectations. Prices are just the same as any other school in the area. My son Loke is still new at the school - we started him only about a month ago and already we can't say enough good things - what some others have called 'rules' I think is simply order and discipline. In only three weeks (and five/six classes) we already see a difference in Loke's attitude and his demeanor and he loves going to Master Chung's - when school started this week the first thing he said was 'good, this means I get to go back to Tae Kwon Do with Master Chung!' Oh, and I have to say one of Master Chung's chief instructors Michael is fantastic with all the kids and one of the reason's my wife and I jumped on board right away, he was so good with Loke from the very start. My son has been a part of this tae kwon do school for almost a year and it has been the biggest waste of time and money. The place is set up to milk you for every penny. Every belt cost $60. Master Chung is extremely friendly to students and parents in the beginning and most parents are impressed and take him at face value. The truth is he is dishonest, old schooled and very concerned with money. Every time a new student walks through that door, he sees cash flow and his eyes are swirling with dollar signs. He decides when can a student advances to the next level based on how much his/her parents spend, although he claims it is based on a student's ability. He is so full of it. My advice to new parents: don't buy into his selling gimmicks. You'll end up feeling like a sucker and your child doesn't learn much "honesty in the heart" from a master who doesn't practice what he preaches on his website. read more

Master Chung is great for very young kids. He really has a way to get two and three year old children to listen to him. Kids really learn and respect him which is fantastic. The one issue we have is he over steps some boundaries with adults and treats us like the kids to get us to listen to him. I respect that he has rules, but do not appreciate being spoken to like a kid. Also, he seems over concerned about money. I think your kids will do great here when they are really young. read more

Generally a bad experience. Master Chung is upfront about using the kids as cash cows and free labor. The first year's tuition must be paid in full upfront. He hounds the parents about paying the tuition for the following years, in full, months in advance. In addition, every event (big and small) have fees. If you don't pay, then Master Chung has no problem explicitly excluding your kid from participating. The facilities are in need of repair, and the so-called "staff" are current students. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!! WASTE OF TIME & MONEY!!! First of all, his website says he personally works with every child everyday..BIG LIE!! I've attended this facility for a few months & not ONCE has "Master" Chung worked with any of the kids on any given day. He claims this is a "professional" school yet the one time he DID interact with his the children was when he was testing..WHILE SITTING IN A CHAIR!! This man did not get up to correct the students or demonstrate ANYTHING the correct way. How is this professional? It's a PHYSICAL activity, not a reading club. He sits in his office the entire time and bs'ing with parents & not working with his students!! His school is far from professional, especially after witnessing him being disrespectful to his own staff in front of numerous parents when those are the people who are actually teaching every student!! These kids are basically running around, kicking, & playing the entire time. They aren't taught anything new until the last 5 mins of class. The classes are extremely repetitive and a big joke. Total waste of time and money. Everything is money money money for this guy. He wants an entire annual payment upfront then the price rises and rises, you must pay for equipment as the price rises also, pay for every tournament, and pay to get tested for EVERY belt. It's so funny that prior to bringing my child, he told me it was $150 a month. All of a sudden after I come, it's $200!! Why should I have to PAY for my child to get tested for every single belt?? Aren't I already PAYING for him to be learning everything he's taught?? He makes no sense and just wants money from families. He has a very rude way of talking to just everyone including his staff and students. There's a big line between disciplining children in a positive way, being professional with your staff & just being a straight up jerk! He suckers every kid into his movie nights and water slide. But don't forget, if you're not willing to cough up all your money to him..your child definitely will not be included in anything and they also won't be acknowledged!!! If you're looking for a place for your child to run around & kick x-rays, just put them in your backyard. Please don't waste your time with this guy. If I could have given him ZERO stars, I would.
