The Veranda restaurant is located in the iconic and extraordinary Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. The Grand Hotel is one of the best hotels of the world. The Veranda Restaurant is an excellent restaurant with delicious food. We sat next to Bruce Springsteen, the iconic rock star in town for a concert. The Rolling Stones make an annual visit here. Highly recommended.

Does this look Dirty to you?

Terrible service!! Came here for a martini and to hang out. I was disappointed by my drink. The vodka martini was obviously not dirty. You can tell by how it looks. I questioned the waitress and she was quiet rude. The first rude waitress I have encountered since I have been here. I suppose the customer isn't always right. I drink dirty Martini's all the time so I am well versed in what they look and taste like. Imo save your money and go somewhere less pretentious. I had thought about staying here the next time I come. But to over pay and get less quality and less service is not something I am in to. Many other great choices around. We had to ask for the bill and were never checked on after being given our drinks. Worst service in Stockholm.

The absolute BEST Sunday brunch in Stockholm!!! The smorgasbord is impeccable - as gourmet as a smorgasbord could possibly be! The service is fantastic, the people lovely (and friendly) - I always run into other Americans, which is nice once in a while :) My favorite place to bring out of town guests to really introduce them to Swedish traditional food - and it always leaves a wonderful impression! The rooms are very luxurious and very spacious The service is excellent, of course - as you are paying for the best here. The spa is out of this world!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Right on the water and some of the most views of the harbor. Not to mention the space for all of Mathias Dahlgren's fantastic restaurants, Superb staff and facilities. Ive not had the Smörgåsbord everyone talks about but if you're hitting all of the other restaurants there's not much space for that.

Dessert plate! Tastes as good as it looks.

A great place for a traditional Swedish Smörgåsbord. A few warnings, though - they get unhappy if you appear without a reservation, so I reserved my spot through their website the day before. Strange, because I was one of the first people there, and it was not very busy even by the time I left even on a Sunday afternoon. Also, you can't cancel your reservation more than 24 hours ahead (actually I suppose you could, because what would they do?) I was worried my jean shorts and tshirt for hot weather would be too casual, but they didn't say anything. I liked the atmosphere - simple Swedish design with everything in white, with plenty of natural sunlight streaming in from the windows at midday. I am only an occasional pescetarian, but the herring was so delicious, and they had several different kinds. The salmon was fantastic as well. I think the key is to get there early - I ate at the opening of their lunch time, 1pm, so everything was very fresh and the hot food was fine. As other reviewers have reported, I'm sure it gets less fresh as the day goes on, as is the case with any buffet. I recommend just trying no more than a bite of each thing so you have room for everything. I also highly recommend saving room for dessert! It was so beautiful I had to take pictures. Really gorgeous and a range of delicious sweets. I also tried some aquavit as the traditional snaps to go with the herring - this cost extra and tasted terrible, but I'm glad I tried it anyway. Very expensive, but I thought it was worth it to try a full Swedish meal and a lot of delicious food.

The typical room at the Grand Hotel - old world cool.

Stayed here for just one day as I passed through Stockholm and this is mainly for the accomodations - I did not sample the food at the restaurant downstairs or what looked like afternoon tea service. Overall, this is a fabulous hotel - the staff are very helpful, the concierge is knowledgeable, rooms are very comfortable, and it is located centrally within walking distance of most of the touristy attractions in Stockholm.

We came here for the famous smorgasbord and were not disappointed! The selection of food was great. While I'm not a herring fan (there were 9 different types) they also had a few varieties of salmon and various smoked meat. There were lovely salads, both leafy and carby. The hot food was my favourite part of the savoury offerings - the meatballs and potato were absolutely stunning. My favourite part of all was the dessert table - there was an AMAZING selection! We were seated right by the window overlooking the river which was great. Service was efficient but not snooty, which I think is quite a hard balance to achieve in a place like this. It is pricey, but it's a unique and special experience so I think it was worth it. My only regret is that I couldn't afford a 2nd cocktail!!

The Connect Hotel is a utilitarian hotel near the airport that offers a free shuttle bus (every 30…read moreminutes from about 4:00am to midnight) to and from Arlanda. For those who book cheap fares with long layovers like we did, Connect Hotel is perfect. There is nothing fancy here but it is quite nice. My traveling companion actually described it as "Ikea like." The hotel is clean, comfortable and quiet so we got a good night's rest before the last leg of our journey. There is a full bar in the evening -- which is great for a weary traveler. Their restaurant service exceeded expectations. You make your selections, pay at the bar and soon the food is delivered to your table in the commons area. You can eat it there or retreat to your room if you prefer. My traveling companion is vegan and though the menu did not offer vegan dishes per se, several items, including a hearty bulgar salad, were easily adapted to a vegan diet simply by omitting the cheese. I ordered a shrimp sandwich. The small shrimp (probably 36-40 size) were piled high on an open face sandwich dressed with mayo and garnished with a pickle and fresh veggies. Along with a side of fries it was a satisfying meal. Breakfast is served starting at 4:00am in the morning -- a definite plus for those with early flights. The breakfast buffet includes a selection of breads, cold meats and cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurts, fruit, cereals, juices, coffee and tea. They also offer gluten free and lactose free options for those on special diets (which also worked well for my vegan companion). We ate our fill and caught the 7:00am bus to the airport, getting there with plenty of time to leisurely work our way through security and to our gate. So if you have an itinerary like ours, you'll find that the Connect Hotel should serve your needs well.

The staff welcomes you from behind the reception desk, which also operates as a bar! So of course we were immediately fond of this place. STAFF: ------- Staff is helpful and courteous, and can help you figure out the best way to visit neighboring areas. They were quick to help when I requested a bag of ice for my ankle (which has been slowly healing from a grade 3 sprain since May 15). Really appreciated their concern. ROOMS: --------- They are TINY! But they get the job done. The four of us shared between us a double bed and a bunk bed. The boys graciously took the bunk bed. :) The bathroom is even smaller. If you bend over while sitting on the toilet, you may bump your head on the sink counter. If you try to shower in the magical glass door compartment that has no tub but doesn't leak water, you may bang an elbow or knee. But nothing we can't deal with for such a good price! FOOD: ------- Basic complimentary breakfast of lunch meats, cucumber & tomato, cheese, bread, granola and yogurt, some fruits, and coffee. Lunch and dinner (and of course drinks) are available for separate purchase. LOCATION: ------------ Perfect if you need to stay close to the airport. Since we had only one night here for our layover on the way to Barcelona, this was the best location. It was only about a 15-20 minute Uber to downtown Stockholm. Transportation rocked. A designated bus picked us up at the airport, dropped us off at the hotel, and brought us back to the airport the next morning. Very convenient! TIP: This will do the job and fit your travel budget. DATE TIP: Not the most romantic rooms for a getaway. Would recommend looking elsewhere! :D

That said, these were minor issues, and between the desk, and other surfaces, where was room to put our stuff out without putting it on the floor.
