Ett Hem... I wish it was my home, or at least, I could live with just the very pretty and cozy double room - number 4. The room I stayed in for one night. This night was a dream come true. A night at Ett Hem has been on my wishlist for ever since it started out. I was greeted by a lovely woman at the main entrance. The room was not ready yet, so I decided to see the beautiful city of Stockholm, which I have been to multiple times before. This trip, however, was different. The whole trip was based and booked because of Ett Hem. Upon advance, I did request for this room no #4. I have seen it on photos, and this is my favorite. I really cannot describe the room. It was pretty and just breathtakingly beautiful in all it's details. Oscar & Clothilde wool plaid, Côte Bastide slippers, Marvis toothpaste, Kiehl's toiletries. Do I need to say more? To sit and look at the local area from my window, with the cold temperature outside, the cozy plaid around me and a candlelight. Seriously, in how many hotels can you lit a candelight? The public areas were simply breathtaking too. Design pieces everywhere, lights, coziness - everything was beyond amazing. I have to mention all those books that you can just pick, take to your room, read, return. The fitness room is a must try too - how about some cross country skiing? Then walk across the hallway to the relaxing spa with a hot stone, sauna and different baths. The food is just as good as the rest. At dinner, some of the spaces were occupied by people and parties from the outside - maybe the only negative thing about this place. I sat in the lovely kitchen though, which was very great - and cool to see all those chiefs working. I optioned for the 3-course meal. The starter was pleasant with two varieties of tartare - one with char, one with roe - and then braised cabbage with fried kale. The main course was pieces of sirloin steak It was cooked almost rare. Simply perfect. It came with pumpkin, chanterelles and a bordelaise sauce. My dessert was a lemon sorbet with lemon crumbs and raspberries. Light and very fresh. The kitchen really have huge talent and knowledge about food, and they sure know how to make the most honest, fresh ingredients to something delicious. I love the way that they used autumn ingredients like pumpkin and chanterelles. In total, with a bottle of sparkling water, it set me back 895 SEK or around 100 €. Expensive, but worth it though. At least once. The breakfast is so good. Really. Very simple, but the ingredients are of a very high quality. Furthermore, the breakfast is presented pretty and very neatly around the table. We are talking freshly baked bread and pastries from Riddarbageriet, cold cuts, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, granola. It was beyond amazing. Let us be clear and honest: A stay at Ett Hem is expensive, but do yourself a favor and try at least once. A stay here is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Go ahead and book now.

I came in with my non-Asian coworker and he was helped at the desk while I waited right behind him. There were 3 employees at the front desk. An Italian family came up after me and they were waved over to be helped. I thought maybe the staff just didn't see me but then it happened again. Another European lady walks up and is waved over to be helped. I stepped up and asked why everyone is cutting me off in line and that's when the front desk said "oh sorry about that." After 18 hours of travel, this was a horrible way to start the week. I had a few coworkers staying at the hobo across the street and everytime I walked in to meet up with them, I was greeted by staff. I stayed there last year as well and didn't experience anything discriminatory. I assumed the Downtown Camper would be better since they have a few more amenities in the room such an iron and kettle but this was not worth it. Being treated like you are invisible ruins the entire experience. On top of that, it makes me look at Sweden in a different light. Right outside the hotel there was a group of men that proceeded to yell things like "ni hao Ching Chang Chong!" I expected more from a place/staff that is supposed to be hospitable and welcoming. While we cannot control what happens outside of the hotel, it would have been nice to feel safer in your hotel and free from judgement just because we don't look the same.

They have a bar, workout room, spa area, dining area, this cool neat thing you can lounge in, etc. kind of had a fancy hostel feel, except super expensive. Things to watch out for: adding breakfast with your room is not cheap, 48 USD is what we were told. Rooms are super hot and you don't have access to air and aren't able to turn the heat below around 70 Fahrenheit (and it's only fall, not winter), bar staff wasn't very friendly, we didn't ask for cleaning, specifically said we didn't want it, and someone still walked into our room the first day, terrace tables shown in the ads for the hotel are part of the spa and you can't access them if you don't want to pay, should be clear before hand. We had a good stay here, would say the biggest thing was the room heat issue and we'd wake up sweating each night and have trouble getting back to sleep. But hotel has no major issues, would just expect a little bit more in these areas for the price!

Also, it was easy to catch an Uber from here (Uber here in Europe is awesome - picked up by an Audi or a Mercedes Bens lol). We didn't spend much time in the hotel, just a place to sleep. We came a little earlier than check-in but we were still able to get to our room. Lucky we were able to get a room with a window! Complimentary breakfast was plentiful and delicious! I came up with a list of Swedish foods that I wanted to try and most were present there at the breakfast spread. Especially the meatballs! We were only in Sweden for one day so this came to be very helpful. We booked through United and for one night it was ~$115. We had a really restful sleep and were not bothered by any noise from other rooms. Our only downside was that we did feel very cold at night and that we couldn't regulate the heat.

Had few pre arrival emails and communication that were helpful. More emails during my 2 night stay in early October. Front desk staff and all personnel were friendly, cheerful and competent. Location was quite convenient too. Common areas and bar/restaurant are also nice and tasteful. Had drink and appetizers in the bar, and enjoyed it. So, all in all, pleasant boutique hotel. Now to few negatives. No free breakfast as Platinum Marriott Bonvoy amenity, only small discount. The rate was slightly high, but both of those thins are rather minor. The main issue here is a room itself. I didn't care much for decor, bit it is subjective of course. I couldn't get Platinum upgrade and ended up in their standard double room. It was simply too small even for "one of me", and not too well designed to move around. Felt a bit claustrophobic. Please don't tell me that I should expect very small rooms all over large European metropolis, it is simply not true. I travel enough on business and pleasure to know, and stay in many European cities. It was unusually small, that is all. Still, would recommend Miss Clara. If you are sensitive to a room size, pay up for a larger room then, I guess...)))

There was a small living room where the TV and mini fridge were located. Honestly, I would have expected this type of upgrade with my titanium status anyway so was hoping for something more special. I think the exec lounge was under construction so they had a substitute area near the dining room. The lounge was a bit sad. Few snacks and beverages, and consistently ran out of coffee (Nespresso pods) everyday that we were there. The other guests, especially business travelers, were not happy with this. In addition, to get your 2 complimentary drinks each night, you had to order at the bar, but they would not serve you there -- instead you had to wait back in the lounge. Just an odd setup. Biggest perks: great location with easy access to sites and transit, and the breakfast buffet was plentiful and never had an issue snagging a table.

With six of us traveling they offer a room that has a sofa bed which was perfect for our the two children with us (one child stayed with us) while the other was with their grandparents. The rooms were so spacious for Europe with beautiful parquet floors, comfortable beds, and a well appointed bathroom. Our room also offered a lovely balcony overlooking a courtyard and a view of the river. The location can't be beat for this hotel with convenient access to tram and bus and our first day where we hadn't sorted out public transit we managed to walk from the central station and it was a relatively flat walk. Where this hotel was amazing was the service. We booked this hotel for three days and the gentleman upon check in was so friendly (a Pakistani who had met a lovely lady in Sweden and recognized my Indian parents surname). His extreme kindness helped us start our visit on the right step. We had dinner the first night at the hotel and the food was not only good but the service amazing again. For breakfast we fortunately had familiar faces with a lady who kindly remembered our coffee orders and another gentleman (Channah) who has worked here for 35 years and was so kind and attentive. They all seem to love what they are doing and imparted such kindness that were blown away (we've stayed at nice hotels before like a Mandarin Oriental at Hong Kong) but really impressed how the staff goes above and beyond here.

I used it twice, just wash and dry, nothing fancy, maybe 1/2 washer full. IT COST NEARLY US $189. I looked for a self-service laundromat somewhere nearby but couldn't find one. Bring stuff you can wash out in the sink! The pros: -Excellent location; across the street from Central Station and Arlanda Express, you can access the T-bana from the hotel lobby, many buses and trams stop within a few minutes of walking, many restaurants, department stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, a pharmacy, and other shops -Close enough to walk to many tourist spots -Quiet in rooms; I barely heard anything from other rooms, the hallway, or outside -Comfortable beds - not too hard or soft -Tasty breakfast; not a huge selection, but plenty for all types of diets -Sun deck area with great views, lots of seating, and even some exercise equipment -Rooms with and without windows (the latter are handy during the midnight sun) -Great staff -Good quality toiletries (hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, bath soap) -Electric kettle in room The cons: -No refrigerators in rooms, a big minus for me -No washers and dryers, and no self-service laundromat anywhere near. Again, DO NOT USE THE LAUNDRY SERVICE THEY PROVIDE -During most of the days I was there, the breakfast space was inadequate for the number of people. On weekends, the hours are extended, so it's not often an issue. But on weekdays, when service ends at 9:30 am, you can barely move, let alone find a seat. Today was impossible; I ended up eating my formerly hot breakfast in my room -No eating or drinking on the sun deck area, which I understand but is also a bummer -Not many TV channels -Some maintenance issues in the room, including a drape that doesn't close all the way, a burnt-out bathroom light that makes putting on makeup difficult, and a HVAC system that only blows cool or cold air, no matter how much I adjust it -Not enough maintenance staff to fix these things quickly -Water leaks onto the bathroom floor at the bottom of the shower; it's a design flaw As I mentioned, the pros do outweigh the cons, which are mostly minor issues. I would definitely stay here again.
