We've spent a few years on the hunt for the perfect toy hauler 5th wheel. Prior to visiting Grand Design, we were pretty sure we knew what we wanted and now, after a tour and seeing everything, we're positive! The tour itself was fabulous, from the moment we called to get information, joining the other guests, the plethora of information and seeing first hand how well the Grand Design trailers are made. Although you can't walk through all of the trailers at their plant, they have a local dealer that has a plethora of floor plans nearby. Following our trip and tour, we ended up having a list of questions. We were able to call and get every question answered, which was fabulous! Warning, do not buy any RV from Grand Design, we bought a 2022 Transcend and it has been falling apart since day one Interior ceiling panels falling down, water leaks, outside panels falling off on the road, furnace failing, these RVs are unsafe and all Attorney Generals across America should get involved, if there are any attorneys out there that want to start a Class Action Lawsuit im in line. Just got back from Yellowstone and the furnace failed again, we froze our buts off, off to Walmart for a small space heater. Another faucet leak, there are no water shut off valves, now your whole RV has no water until you fix the issue. Update 11/27/2024 on 11/08/2024 I received a call from Jason from grand design who stated he was going to reopen my claim and he knew the recreational vehicle was still at the dealership. He stated the technician was out and he would be in contact. Today the 27th of November 2024 the dealership nor myself has been contacted and I will start accruing storage fees at a daily rate, I've attempted to contact the manufacturer with only a recording that they are not available. Update: grand design requested by comment on 11/01/2024 that I contact them via phone or email because they did not have my updated information, which is not true because they recently denied my claim filed 09/11/2024. I emailed them on 11/01/2024 and it is now 11/07/2024 and still have not been contacted back even though they strive to respond within 48 hrs. Complete garbage, I purchased an RV from grand design in 2020, in 2021 and had a claim for water damage for $13,300 that was approved by the manufacturer. On September 11th 2024 I had to take the RV to the place of purchase again for the same damage but this time it equals $16,600. The RV was purchased for around $64,000. The total of damage in three years is valued at 1/2 the cost of the unit. And grand design is denying the claim that they have previously warranted. The water is coming off the back deck and soaking into the floor and with the floors having a protective wintering cover one can not see up to the floor from underneath. The damage cannot be observed like water coming down the walls from the ceiling, the damage can only be observed when it is too late. read more

My second review since our second slide-out broke. Just way too many problems with Grand Design RV Solitude 390RK-R 5th wheel to list. From nails popping through the floor and linoleum to leaking roof. Grand Design knowing the kitchen slide outs never had rollers installed to properly carry the weight still denied us twice to reimburse us to fix their mistakes. Update from response from GD on Google reviews: Manufacturers response was simply platitudes. Called as recommended in the GD response on Google reviews and they haven't changed their recent stance on a decision that was flip flopped on. This combined with the poor quality as I expericed will ensure that I'll never again purchase a GD product and will warn others of said poor quality and more - See below. Original review: Beware this manufacturer, to say their quality is substandard is an understatement. I have a Grand Design Reflection 2021 that from the start had a significant number of issues. These ranged from improperly assembled plumbing to construction debris under the bedroom carpet to faulty cabinetry and even up to and including replacing the oven as it never worked. If you're looking for something you intend to use, I would advise you to look elsewhere. It's clear their quality and quality control is severely lacking. All of the issues I have experienced that resulted in my RV spending more time being repaired than being used, could have been prevented with even a modicum of quality control. It's easy to blame the manufacturer of the given appliance, as GD did, instead of owning their products quality. Even still, many of the issues had nothing to do with an appliance manufacturer. While under warranty, GD did cover most of the repairs, but it should never have come to that. In total, in the relatively short time I used my RV, I had over 30 notable issues. Further, the manufacturer has responded to my reviews saying "Sorry to hear about your experience. Please call our customer service and we'd be happy to help". Don't fall for it. When it's even possible to get a hold of them because they constantly have a high call volumes (says something that they are plagued with customer service calls), I have been in contact their customer service and promises were made that were reneged on. This was after having told me for months that it would be repaired by them. I planned accordingly and instead months of my time were wasted. Your money is better spent elsewhere, I cannot caution you enough. purchased a Brand new 2023 Hrand Design momentum fifth wheel toy hauler. Had it one day now it's back at the dealership. oven,microwave, refrigerator all do not work. needs to be replaced. The fuel station tank is cracked so water and contamination got inside. Tank needs to be replace. Ac/Heat not working. I was so excited to get my Grand Design RV. I purchased a 2022 Transcend 265BH; my excitement immediately became a nightmare. Issue after issue, problem after problem. It has been falling apart; my AC stopped working twice. A surge issue blew up my TV, and the refrigerator went off. My floor is warped and leaking; the glue on the floor has bled through the laminate. This RV has ruined my RV experience, so I'm turning to sell it, and I'm done with the RV life. We purchased our Grand Design, Imagine in January and things have been falling apart right and left. We are currently on a trip and one of our stabilizers completely buckled (which had been reported as having issues prior). The molding are completely off (delivered off), the slide ripped the linoleum, the backing board for the TV did not exist. So many problems with this trailer that I can't even comprehend. This is how the TV was delivered and we were told, it's an easy adjustment - no such thing with this trailer. Never Again!!!! We have a 2021 Grand design Reflection and were needing a wiring schematic to reconnect 7 pin wiring harness from the truck to the trailer I started with the dealership, and they stated that they didn't have one and I should contact Grand Design and I would be able to get one sent via email. Wrong, I spoke with some rude heifer in customer service that told me that they wouldn't provide that information to the owner or to the dealerships, which I find very hard to believe. I asked to speak to her manager and was told that she was the manager so I ask to speak with her supervisor and was told in no way would she transfer me. I then told her that I would not be recommending Grand Design to anyone looking to purchase a new RV. Her response was she didn't care and that was up to me. I'm so unhappy with the customer service of grand design! My husband and I bought a brand new 41 foot trailer from them and my fridge has never worked since the day I have gotten it! We were told before we picked up our trailer that It had been replaced and we were lied too! It was never replaced! Warning warning warning warning warning warning warning I'm going to tell you right now be very very careful with these trailer company because if you could look inside the internal you would have a heart attack iwish I cannot give these people a one star be very careful buying a trailer from these people of an excessive 160,000 the trailer is unbelievable when you really look inside of it you will have a heart attack this trailer is unsafe if you get hit in it it says it's very very built tough but it's not it's made out a little baby pieces of popsicle sticks metals and there's wires everywhere with no wire loom so if mice get in there and start eating stuff in the basement you're dead the insurance company will have to Total the unit these people don't want to spend a couple extra dollars to put their wires in wire loom don't they know that there's mice out there and rats that eat wires and the wood is not even wood it's like a fake wood everything is flimsy because they tried to make this thing light it's nothing like my Monaco signature crown Royal from 1992 Diesel Pusher that thing is solid as a rock and it will last me a hundred years this trailer has so many problems already and it's a 2022 but the problem is I'm looking inside of it the way they put all the butt connectors and the way they put this thing together you guys will be shocked if you just open up one compartment where the vacuum cleaner goes and look behind that wall you would die there's 10,000 wires there and everything is exposed you look in the front where the cap is all the wires are just dangling there for the lights how come these people didn't use wire loom it wouldn't cost them nothing maybe like a hundred fifty dollars more $200 who cares about the money you're making $150-160,000 investment for a 22 momentum 397 trailer you would figure that they spend a couple dollars more to make it so it can last forever but they don't care this thing just looks good in appearance but be very careful you will be shocked if you looked inside of it you would have a heart attack so what my deal to you is don't buy it stop take a breath and buy another brand because this one's so so unsafe it's unbelievable I mean how come they would not put all the wires inside wire looms because this thing could catch on fire two wires catching to each other I think it's a nightmare waiting to happen and that's my review read more

I am about to take my 5th wheel in again for repair. I have had 5 rvs and this is the worst one it is so cheaply made and thing in under a year are having to be fixed. I submitted a claim for reimbursement for $150 loss caused by a design defect involving the spare tire support. Both the dealer and the factory's customer service have told me the claim was approved but the funds have never been received. Ideally the dealer (Cousins RV in Colorado Springs) would have reimbursed me and then gotten repaid by the factory. On another note, I had to have one axle replaced (tire was wearing unevenly) - that got done but the new axle has the same issue (still having to buy a new tire every year). read more

We thought we did due diligence but..... We have a 2022 GD Imagine 2500. What a piece of work. Pieces started falling off inside, molding etc. First time out fridge drained the batteries. We were told "yes, the company put a fridge in that doesn't match the batteries. You need a second solar panel and lithium batteries." So $2,800 later YEP the fridge works! Have taken it in (35 miles) a few times. First time out this year (last week) the single slide came in sideways left then right!!!! We know if we take it in now we can forget camping for a while because they are shorthanded. We do really like the shop personnel but the trailer quality...... another story. Anyone had this problem? I purchased a Solitude and took delivery in July 2020. Just wanted to say how much we love this RV. It's perfect for us. Only have had a few very minor issues that where quickly resolved. We got the full body paint and every where we go people say "Wow what a beautiful rig". We also got the generator and have had the chance to boon dock with it. Only compliant is that when stored the generator runs down the batteries then when I go to get it it's completely dead and can't hitch up. Can't even use the generator because they run off the same batteries. GD you need to look into this. read more

If you have been led to thinking that Grand Design was top of the line RV allow me to enlighten you. Oct 2023 we bought a demo Imagine XLS 22MLE that is nothing but junk! Just to start listing items first the refrigerator didn't work, commode leaked at the foot valve when you flushed it, hot water heater wouldn't work on electricity just gas, found out after paying a service man the hot water heater had never been plugged in when built! Water leaks everywhere when you use the shower, also hand held shower hose exploded after about 5 uses. The brakes on both axles are adjusted so loose the electric brakes are useless! The power tongue jack works and sometimes it doesn't. Water leaks in really bad around the left side bedroom window and to top it off it couldn't be winterized because the factory didn't install the correct bypass valve so a new valve had to be bought before it could be winterized. I have called customer support a few times and they have been absolutely useless as they know less than I do! The dealer (CarolinaRV) helped with the refrigerator and commode the rest has been on my dollar! I have been camping over 50 years and this is my 8th RV and in my opinion this RV is nothing but JUNK buy something else not a Grand Design RV!!!!! read more

When we bought it was missing a awning cover cap, the RV dealer has proved to be disappointing in their customer service. They directed us to Grand Design to see if they could get us a cap. I bought a Grand Design RV new in 2019. In 2020 the refrigerator quit working. The repairs were done under warranty. The repair lasted 3 months and the refrigerator quit working again. This time I was told I would have to pay for the repairs because the warranty expired. The refrigerator was not fixed yet I was stuck with the bill. I called Grand Design because of their purported exceptional customer service. They said it was not their problem and told me to call Donetic! A company with an ounce of integrity stands behind products they sell and doesn't expect customers to fend for themselves. Through this process I found that there are RV manufacturers out there that produce higher quality RV's and stand behind what they sell. Do business with those companies. read more

After not being able to get into their service Dept, we found Affinity RV Group in Goshen Indiana. See my reviews of them. . They specialize in RV repair. No sales just service. Affinity contacted GD to tell them about our electrical fire. Although not covered by warranty, GD agreed to provide all parts and material for free. We only paid Affinity for labor. I purchased a brand new 2021 Momentum 349-MR from Lazy Days. During the walkthrough we found a laundry list of small issues. We noted and I had to schedule a warranty trip two months after purchasing this brand nee coach. Upon taking it to warranty at a local dealer, they couldn't fix most items because they had to order nearly everything. In addition, after picking it up, I found my rear door would no longer close right and the trim around it was popping off. I spent a lot of money on this coach because they were supposed to be one of "the best". Clearly they are not, I will not be purchasing another Grand Design product in the future. read more

I just can't say enough about the customer service with this company. I wish I could give them 10 stars instead of only five. I just got off the phone with the gentleman named Austin. He was so customer oriented and handled a concern I had about possibly being charged for too many hours to have a couple of gray and black water valves replaced. He called the RV repair center in Santa Cruz, California where I authorized the work to be done and spoke to their lead guy Gill about the work they were doing and the estimated number of hours it should take to complete the work. They were both in agreement and he confirmed that we were being treated fairly and the amount of time it should take to change those valves. I really appreciate You stepping up to the plate Austin. My spouse is a first responder and we live on a tight budget. We purchased a reflection by grand design because He was almost killed December 2, 2016 by suicide by cop. That's when someone points a weapon at a police officer hoping they will be taken out by the officer. As a spouse It was the scariest Day of my life. His dream was to own an RV Someday but alike I said we have to watch our pennies and still do. That is why we purchased the Reflection by Grand Design. We are new to the RV world and have loved it experiencing memories from the Grand Canyon to Moab Utah, moments you cannot put a price on. Again you went above and beyond. And a couple of months before that I was driving the fifth wheel in central California and hit a large pothole filled with water at 50 miles an hour on the road and blew out the passenger side of our 5th wheel well on the RL 27 Reflection. I could not get anyone to service it or fix it for several months because it was an auto repair situation. I contacted Angela Kniffen in March 2020 and she came right up to the plate and took care of everything. Not only did I get the parts for my RV fixed in about three weeks but it looks as good as it did when we drove it off the lot in July 2017. I have never experienced this type of customer service with any auto dealership much less an RV manufacturer. Thank you so much Angela and Austin. You make a great team. Because of your service we're going to be buying the Momentum in the next 3 to 4 months and keeping our reflection because we love it so much.
