We've visited often and I love the chimichanga and always get a coronarita the chips and salsa and a white dip that accompanies the chips is always amazing and gone quickly

Tacos de Carne Azada
Amanda B.

This was the worst Mexican I've had in years. Ordered takeout carne asada tacos. The tacos were super gristly, the meat that was edible was over cooked; nothing on the tacos--a cup w white onions and cilantro on the side. I paid extra for sour cream, but what I got tasted more like ranch dressing...? The rice and beans tasted awful, maybe old? Both the beans and rice were super bland as well. Guacamole was ok, chips in huge need of salt. I'd skip going back.

Al Pastor and Steak taco from the "Real Taco Express"
Ailun H.

Apparently they have a taco truck outside called the "Real Taco Express"! We were on a walk around the neighborhood when we saw the taco truck and I knew I wanted a snack after a long walk. We ordered the al pastor and steak taco and ate it after we walked home. Tacos weren't bad but they weren't anything special. I did enjoy the salsas a lot which enhanced the taste of the tacos but the tacos itself were just OK. Definitely would stop by again for a late night snack if I'm out for a long walk in the area. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to trying other taco places in the area.

Chori-steak
Lily N.

I'm from Royal Oak and I accidentally called the wrong location for take out. I meant to order from Madison Heights but ordered from the Troy location instead. This is my first tile ordering from Troy and to me surprise it is the exact same!! My go to order is the chori-steak and my boyfriend orders the chori-pollo. When you order it comes with your meat along with refried beans, rice, and three small flour tortillas. Everything is always SO GOOD. Seriously I crave Grand Azteca's chori-steak on a daily basis. It's a full steak with the chorizo on top and a cheese sauce on top. To die for. Highly recommend. My favorite Mexican restaurant.

Steak Azteca

Usually the food is pretty decent here but decided to try a new dish via DoorDash Steak Azteca. The steak was terrible. I didn't expect a filet by any means but over half of it was pure fat and the rest was way over cooked and dry and thin as can be . Bummer I guess if I go back I'll just stick to the ground beef or chicken . The dessert was good however .

Carne Asada Burrito
Mark B.

I came here for a little happy hour event with some classmates, and I love the authentic vibe of the place. The big margaritas are a good size and fairly priced, and perfect for an afternoon drink. For food, I wanted to try one of their carne asada burritos, and it had some solid toppings. The chips they include were pretty decent too. Overall pretty good experience and on par with other Mexican food places in the area.

Staffs are nice and professional. Food was really salty I will ask for less salty when I come back. I liked their ranch dip :)

Bean and cheese Nachos
Caemryn W.

the food here was okay but not great. i ordered nachos with cheese and black beans but it was 90% beans and almost no cheese. the spicy salsa was really good though! i also had a frozen lime margarita which was okay but too syrupy. my server was very sweet and any staff i came into contact with was very nice. i sat by the door so i wasn't able to see too much of the restaurant but i did see there was a bar and from what i could tell the dinning room was very cutely decorated.

The meats was very tender & flavorful, veggies quite fresh and finished product very very tasty. As a cautionary note, the Salsa was probably a medium on the spicy scale and if you like your food mild you may want to ask for the mild salsa that comes with the chips. Other item of note here is the chips and salsa come gratis if you dine in where they were good but not quite at the level as the taco's which were over the top good! Relative to the restaurant and staff, the facility itself has a smallish footprint where there are just two tables and one very long counter with stools for indoor dining. My take of this is that much of the business is probably carryout. Staff was very friendly where you order your food at the counter and they bring it to you if you are dining in the restaurant. there was no table follow up at this point where it really operate as a quasi fast food joint which I was totally OK with, Overall really good food at a very reasonable price (2 steak taco's were $8) where the taco's are some of the best I have had in Metro Detroit. If you are a fan of good authentic Mexican food than this is a business not to be missed.

From the doubled up corn tortillas, to the tender well cooked meat, cilantro and their wonderful sautéed onions these Street style Taco's are as authentic as anything you would get in Mexico. The gratis house chips and Salsa were equally tasty and a nice complement to the Taco's all being washed down with a sugar cane based Mexican coke. The total bill came in at a very reasonable cost of $12 which is a great value in today's economy and a great deal by any standard. Relative to staff and facility, this appears to be a small family run business where the restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall at the corner of Franklin and Square Lake Rd with an equally small footprint for the restaurant. This is a very unpretentious business (think hole in a wall but in a nice way) with a limited number of dining tables and small staff. Having said that, I had no problem in getting seated and getting my order taken and food brought out in fairly quick order! I have been on a kick for a while now trying to find the best taco joint in the the northern Oakland county area and have to say this is as good as I have come across up to now and am a big fan of this business. If you are into well made authentic Mexican street taco's than this is a must visit for you. This was my first visit here and definately will not be my last where I will be combining this dining venue with my regular Bloomfield Hills Costco trips which is a Quarter mile from the restaurant.

The server repeated - "Its only one scoop!" I thought there may have been a language barrier - but no - he understood what I was asking - and because it was only one scoop of beans - he was not going to bring the beans that came with my burrito; So, he repeated for a 4th time - "its only one scoop" - as if that qualified why I should be ok with not getting a part of the meal I paid for! What made the experience worse - my beans were not the only thing the server either forgot or just didn't want to bring to the table, But we wanted to order drinks, NOPE! - he didn't bring the Verde salsa, and when we a table of 5 asked for missing items - he showed in tone, facial expression, that he was irritated with our questions for the very things that came with our meals! The terrible service it what killed it for me! Just disappointing.

Service is quite quick where once seated you get your food within a few minutes making this an excellent spot if you are on the run and looking for a good meal on the quick. Prices are cheap in my opinion where my three taco's and a coke came to just $12. NICE! Two things to note here is that the chips and salsa are not gratis but come at an extra cost and follow up once you get food was non existent in my case. Chips and salsa was not a big deal to me but lack of follow up prevented this business from getting a fifth star. Small interior with some seating, but I got my burrito to go. Staff was friendly and my food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering. The tortilla was so greasy. Costco pizza x10. Seriously; I had to use some napkins on the tortilla because it was just soaked in grease. Not great. I got the steak. It was very good. Tender; no chewy bites and pretty good flavor. Good portions throughout the burrito. That was the highlight along with the guac. A chunky guac done well. It was fresh and just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, half my burrito was lacking in sour cream and cheese to the point I thought they forgot about it. The second half had better portions of those items, but more cheese would've benefited this. Finally, the fries were a joke. No seasoning and no crunch provided for a very unmemorable bite. A shame. Perhaps this was an off day. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. It was fine, but nowhere near what I was expecting. I might try this again, but need some time before I do that. Very good steak and guac. Everything else was lacking.
