Great Western Hotel

What a lovely little pub this is!! It's recently been refurbished, reopening last autumn. Located…read morenext to Bewdley station on the Severn Valley Railway. The pub is true to it's routes with the decor reflecting the local railway, there's cosy log burners and a great view of the local station, upstairs there is a fantastic mural of Bewdley which I'd highly recommend you taking a look at. There's a great selection a beers and wine, they don't do food as such here but they do an array of Pork pie's and rolls and we all agreed their selection of sauces and pickles was top notch. We opted for a standard pork pie with the favorite English mustard, shared between four of is was a sufficient small snack to accompany our beer. They have a pub dog, and welcome other dogs and you can get a little treat for your pouch for a small donation behind the bar. There's also free wifi (code on the board as you walk in). Staff and locals are really friendly and there's also plenty of parking out back. I'll definitely be paying another visit when I'm back in the area.
This is a great pub with a lot of character on the edge of Bewdley…read more It has recently had a referb and rename. It's been restored by the owners to its former name way back when-The Great Western Hotel. On entry it's like stepping back in time with every last detail done out and restored back to it's formal glory as an old railway themed pub. It is clearly a labor of love for the owners and there's a really cozy warm welcoming feel about the place. The beer is to be expected of a pub that takes pride in its original routes with a great selection of local ales and an excellent draft craft lager that for the life of me I can't remember the name of! There's no meals served however there are a selection of locally made pork pies along with ham and cheese crusty rolls on offer. The cheese in the rolls can only be described as door stops, no messing about! Now when it comes to pork pies I like to think I'm a bit of a critic and I can safely say that they are the best I've ever had (yes even better than Aldi's Christmas specials, trust me!) It's also worth noting that the Great Western is a dog friendly pub. So much so that for a small donation on the bar you can pick up a couple of dog treat biscuits for your yappy companions! All in all a cracking boozer with a lot of character and a welcoming friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended after a walk along the River Severn through Bewdley!
Stone Manor Hotel

But compared to the peace and quiet, natural beauty and friendly staff at Stone Manor, I think I've found my preferred spot while visiting! Pulling up the drive, the manor itself is seated off the road and slightly away from the parking lot, giving it an idyllic look with strong Tudor framing for a classic look. The interior is clean and well-kept with a stately lived-in look rather than a "don't touch that" museum feel. The rooms are down halls, up stairs, through doors and finding yours can be a bit of a hunt. Quick tip: if you or one of your party is mobility challenged, let the staff know to appropriately room you as there are a number of spaces that would be difficult for wheelchairs or crutches. The rooms themselves are well-appointed and extremely comfortable. I visited in the fall, so popping open the windows to allow some of the cool air and the sounds of nature from the gardens was a no-brainer. I'm not sure how well air conditioned they are in the summer, though. The bathroom I had was amazing! Full shower and a deep tub that I could completely get covered in (not common for someone 6'1"). Finish it off with soft robes and a heated towel rack and I felt clean and comfy. WiFi is solid throughout the establishment The English gardens outside are delightful for walking and were soothing. There is a 1 mile nature run as well, but rains prevented me from giving that a try. The restaurant and bar are very good. The fish and chips were some of the best I had during any visit. I ate here three nights in a row and was very pleased with each meal and the diverse though moderate selection of beers available at the bar. I can't wait to visit again!

No breakfast area, but they have a cute to-go breakfast box if purchased. The room was spacious. Bathroom was stocked with a shampoo/bodywash (same liquid) in the shower.
