Truly my favorite breakfast spot in Louisville. As a family, we have sampled most of the menu. My favorite is the breakfast sandwich on a biscuit and I sub avocado for meat. It's perfect. Also love the eggs and grains. Many ingredients and they all combine for a perfect breakfast bowl. Coffee drinks and matcha are always beautiful and delicious. Highly recommend sitting at the bar near the chef station. You can watch all the meals as they are made with many components. Super fun! If weather permits, we also love the outdoor seating. I swear I go here like once a month! maybe even more! I can never get sick of their amazing trout board! My partner& I decided to switch it up & eat outside... Wrong move, hate the infestation of pesky flies. They harassed us the whole time, but can't blame them the food is really that good! My daughter & I decided it was brunch time and Gralehaus was on my list of places to go. Gralehaus is located off Baxter Avenue....scan the QR code inside the restaurant to validate your parking...it's super easy. The atmosphere from the moment you walk in is warm & welcoming. I loved the vibe. You go to the counter grab menus and a table then go back up to the counter to order. We must've got there just in time because it gradually became full. I forgot to get a pic of the menu but there's truly something for everyone. For drinks we ordered the strawberry espresso soda and an orange juice. The espresso soda was amazing!!!!! The first drink was like what have I done...but, once I mixed it together it was delicious!!!! For entrees we ordered the avocado smash board, French toast casserole and biscuits & gravy. I highly recommend the avocado smash board. It's not only stunning to the eye but so full of flavor. I will order that only as an entree. It's quite large. We definitely have too much food. The dark rye bread with flaky sea salt was divine. It's served with a soft boiled egg, avocado with everything seasoning, pickled onion and radish and bean sprouts. 10/10. The gravy & biscuit was good...my daughter enjoyed it. It was a little too sweet for my liking. The French toast casserole was pretty good. I'm a French toast snob. Good for family or friends looking for a chill environment and quality bite. The baked goods are delicious. Sampled the cinnamon roll and cardamom roll. Both were fantastic. I went for a breakfast burrito which was also a hefty serving and definitely a good call. It'll stick to your ribs - it's not spicy or very seasoned, but the salsa side gives it a little pep. We spent a Wonderful Wednesday at Gralehaus and it did not disappoint. Nestled in the heart of The Highlands, Gralehause is a sweet little oasis. Holy grail has always been a fav for we knew we'd love gralehaus. We went on NYE with no reservations...the place was packed and they accommodated us by putting a table for us in the "shop" which was so cute and fun. The shop is where you can grab bottles of wine and beer for dinner or take away. We were the only people there so it was like our own personal dining room. This is an old 1900s converted church still has a lot of the old relics bar has the stained glass and the lantern fixtures hanging from the ceilings beautiful. another charming thing was the beer garden in the courtyard. Also really amazing selection of crafts, sours wines, trendy cocktails it was a fun spot. I would absolutely make a point of stopping in here. I happen to order one of their signature burgers which came with a Kuri ketchup selection very good french fries a little salty. I enjoyed the pretzel bun, but the salt level does need to come back soon in this part of the country. I sat in the bar area and the bartender was exceptionally good. I've been coming to this place for years, almost every time I come home to Louisville and have a spare morning to grab breakfast. It's a B&B that looks like a quaint little house, and the inside is so comforting and warm feeling. Food is absolutely delicious, I don't know the chefs but they need a raise asap. I always get the biscuits & gravy (heavenly), bacon, and eggs; when you visit, thats what you have to order. Service is always so kind and embodies the sweet southern hospitality that makes people claim Kentucky as part of The South. (Bonus Tip if you have to wait: Drive over the Fat Rabbit and go thrifting! My boyfriend splurged and found vintage band tees, collared button down shirts with the tags still on for a bargain, they also have stickers, jewelry, pins and books etc. also walking distance to more shops to browse or window shop located only a couple minutes up the street!) To order, you walk up and order with someone who will send it right to your table/seat. There are outdoor options available as well! It was busy inside but the decor was cute and cozy. They also had outdoor seating but it was a bit chilly for outside. Staff was really nice and friendly. I had to wait a bit for the food to come out and it was a good portion size for the price. It tasted fresh. I had leftovers too. Oh my gosh ... it did not disappoint! We have been meaning to come here forever but our schedules wouldn't allow but so glad we finally can mark this show stopper off our list! I visited Gralehaus for brunch with a party of 4. We had to wait around 45 minutes and then were sat at the coldest and most uncomfortable place. There was an open vent that was allowing cold air from outside in. It felt like I was sitting on ice. My husband and I shared the frittata and the bowl. We got there fairly early Sunday morning, a little before 10, and there was already a 30-40 minute wait which I was afraid of. If you've never been, It's a smaller place, and even the bar seats are included in the wait time, so there is no open seating. We were given the option to sit at a back table that faced the wall, it's essentially a bar top affixed to the wall with 4 stools, so we agreed to sit there, we didn't mind. We browsed the menu and once you're ready to order you have to walk up to the front counter and place your order, which is nice in the sense that you can move at your own pace. This is also where you can validate your parking* We both got the Gralehaus Cheeseburger, which is a double smash burger with american cheese, pickles, onions and haus sauce for $16 which doesn't come with a side nor do they have any type of potatoes (I asked), but honestly, for us anyways the burger was plenty. We also both ordered drinks and then sat back down. I essentially got their version of an espresso martini and my husband just got a draft beer. The martini was okay, but honestly it was nothing to brag about in my opinion. The burger was good, I wouldn't say $16 good, but it came out piping hot, and was the perfect definition of a smash burger. I just think the burger patty could have been seasoned more, and wish it had a side for the price - but again that's just my opinion. *Note there is a parking lot that is next to the building that is Paid Public Parking, however if you are visiting the restaurant they will validate the parking for 2 hours. Very hipster place but tasty. Some friends, my husband, and I are visiting from Detroit this weekend, the friends had been here before. They recommended getting there before 10am on a Saturday, so we showed up around 915am, but it was still a 20-min wait for outside seating. Outside, you order at a counter of sorts and then they bring you your food. I had a slight issue in that I needed the bathroom, and they only had one... I waited for about ten minutes since it was in use, then asked waitstaff if they had more (and they did, at Holy Grale next door, their sister restaurant), then had to wait longer there too. Not their fault but frustrating since I have Crohn's. As for the food, my husband got the s'mores French toast which was delicious, with lots of big marshmallows. I got the burrata toast, with apple butter, which was tasty too, on milk bread. We split an order of their smoked bacon too. I'd come back here but would probably get something else to eat, our friends each got their biscuits and gravy and liked it. The biscuit was soft with a nice crust on the outside. The service was attentive. You order at the counter and servers bring the food to the table. All seating is first come, first serve.
