He has such a calm spirit and really has a natural way of teaching. He also has an excellent musical education and background. Our son keeps improving his skills and we owe that to his experience at Music Lab. He also took an interest in guitar and bass. He first started on guitar and then moved to bass lessons. His bass teacher is also incredible. I think he could play and teach just about any instrument. He is very calm and intentional with his lessons. He is another good fit for our son. One of our favorite things about Music Lab, beyond the lessons, are the semi-annual music showcases that they put on for their students and their guests. It's the perfect way to showcase the students' new skills and highlight their growth through the years. The owners, teachers, and staff are all so supportive. Music Lab also puts on great summer camps with fun and talented teachers. Last year, our son did intermediate drum camp, and this year, he tried a musical theater camp. I love that there are so many areas for him to expand his talents! I even got brave and took voice lessons. My teacher was very patient and talented. I learned so much and improved my skills, too. I can't say enough good things about our experience at Music Lab!

She is so fun and her teaching proficiency, professionalism, attention to detail and competency in music amaze me! She has such a great demeanor with the kids. She is encouraging and explains clearly what they should be doing. She goal sets with them and is patient in explaining anything they have trouble with. I love that they are also learning responsibility and time management in addition to piano, rhythm and music theory! I sit with the kids during lessons to make sure they are on task and Melinda can tell (by ear) if they are playing the wrong note and re-direct them. I am very thankful for her as great teachers, in any respect, are hard to come by and she always gives 100%. It is clear she loves people and what she does! I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in learning from the best, even worldwide!

Before this, I had very little music theory and application instruction and I had never had piano or singing lessons. I have learned so much about proper technique for piano and voice, music theory and applying the basics of music to be able to play and sing songs. Melinda has tremendous knowledge of music theory, history, performance and the ability to teach all age groups and levels. She is very sweet and compassionate and a wonderful teacher. I highly recommend her!

Kim's little homey cottage is located right next to the Sierra 2 Center in East Sacramento and there is street parking available. The class for my daughter's age group is on Tuesdays from 5-7pm with 1 hour being for singing/voice lessons and the other 1 hour being for dance lessons. There are 4 classes a month essentially for under $200. Kim was very professional and great with the kids! It was fun to see new and returning students in her class and to see who was comfortable and who was still coming out of their shell. My daughter had a great time at the trail class, but she currently does another activity on Tuesdays so the class for her age group isn't a good fit for us right now, but we hope to come back and join Kim's class in the future. Give them a call or visit if you or your kids are interested in Performing Arts - Kim has been around for 30+ years and you can tell how much she loves what she does!

I've had several music teachers but honestly they got nothing on her. i only see her once a week and I have a busy schedule with social activities but i'd rather see her 3 days a week instead of one. She's worth it. She inspires me to become a better singer every week. I love working with her it's such and honor to be called her student.

Kim can teach you or your child, no matter where you are!…read more I was 30 when I decided to rekindle my love for the violin. I hadn't played since before YouTube was invented, and I was skeptical about learning violin online. By the first lesson, Kim had already corrected poor habits I didn't know I had, just after hearing me play a few scales. She adjusted her teaching style to my personality so seamlessly that I felt I was just getting pointers from a dear violinist friend whose advice is always spot-on. Weekly practice never felt like work, because Kim tailored my assignments to my goals. Before I knew it, I was playing complex concertos I could never do in high school. I started out being able to play just one major scale. Within 10 months, I was in Suzuki Book 4! I can't say enough about Kim's expert teaching skills. During a sight-reading of a very difficult piece, I became so frustrated that I wanted to stop the lesson and try again later. Kim encouraged me until I had gotten all the way through, and pointed out what I could learn from my performance. When I had time to calm down, I realized that Kim can do this for any student; adults, children, and adults whose inner child throws a tantrum when they're frustrated by a musical challenge. :-) Teachers like Kim are rare, and worth their weight in gold. I learned so much more than violin fundamentals through my lessons with her. I'm convinced Kim can teach anyone, of any age--even through an online platform.
