Not sure if the city has taken over the area, but there was a lot of construction and new condos being built. Also be very careful in this part of town. Not a safe spot to roam. Whether it's showing out of town guests around or an impromptu photoshoot, Graffiti Park in EaDo is worth a visit when in HTown. It gives me NYC 5 Pointz (#1) vibes with its colorful array of urban art. This experience is free and is the perfect tub of murals while capturing the city's Urban essence in an area that is changing by the minute. Find a good weather day and enjoy the street parking along Leeland and bring a camera to capture all the colors, convivial designs, and endless homages to mainstream heads and thought provoking concepts. This isn't a place that is often advertised as something people should see, but I think it should be on everyone's itinerary when visiting Houston. The other bonus is that it's rarely ever crowded. On the weekends, this part of town is in brunch mode but it's a quiet place and perfect for the casual tourist, the ever loving art fan, or just someone looking to diversify their social media feed. A great area to just stop and take pictures and video! I love how they give these graffiti artists a place to do their skills without any issues. Place was amazing because there are so many pictures that are done beautifully and with so much detail I don't know how they do it! It's a neat place, I'm pretty disappointed that the city markets this place as a tourist destination but doesn't put any effort at all to pick up trash or provide receptacles for refuse. It's kinda of a bummer to see some really cool artwork but you have to maneuver around fast food bags, discarded clearly Canadian bottles and fringing used diapers. Kills the vibes fast. read more

its free, in a residential area, and well worth a trip out here! we loved it! the park is narrow, but long. you can easily spend 30 to 45 mins here. bring your kids, the camera, and have fun. cool spot for a picnic, dinner outside, and to be honest, id even rent this place out for an event! fun way to kill some time in the weekend, check out some art and statues that are local to Houston. some of the pieces here are interactive. theres picnic benches, areas to sit, some swings, and even an area with a roof/protection to hang out under if its too sunny or raining. loved it, and would come back to watch it grow. read more

I've had this spot bookmarked for quite some time. Since we're social distancing and wearing masks out in public, this was a unique opportunity to go check this place out. We stayed in the car for the most part and drove around various streets to enjoy all the creative artwork displayed. Houston definitely has some talented artists. One mural, in particular, was relevant to what we're all facing right now: the coronavirus mural. If you looked at it from right to left, it showed how the coronavirus was dominating us in the beginning. But, when social distancing (6 feet apart), hand washing, disinfectant use, and other treatments have been implemented; you can then see how we're winning against the coronavirus to eliminate it from our world. It was truly an inspiring and hopeful message in these unsettling times. We did enjoy the other murals as well, including a face portrait of Kobe Bryant (RIP), Emoji flowers, and an astronaut holding a flag with an inspiring quote from the Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo. If you're having cabin fever, like most of us in the world, drive out to this spot and check out the amazing artwork here. read more

How can anyone not give this spot 5 stars?!? What exactly are you rating? It's wall after wall of quality pieces. To anyone that complains about the area, you probably haven't been around street art before. Most places aren't going to let people do huge pieces on their businesses. Street artists have to find places nobody will bother them & that other artists will respect their work & not deface it. This spot had several huge pieces, and the skill level of the painters really showed. One of my favorites wrapped around the corner of the building. There was even a nice tribute to Selena. If you are a fan of street art, I would say it is definitely worthy of checking out. Most pieces can be viewed by car so you don't ever really need to park the car if you don't want to. Lately on our travels, my husband, our little girl dog and I have been interested in murals in other cities. Graffiti Park is located in Midtown Houston and is definitely a place to find creative murals (although Houston has numerous of social media worthy mural backdrops throughout the city). We drove over here this past Friday, around 12 pm. Street parking is easy to find (and free). We saw a handful of people walking around taking photos, but it definitely wasn't busy and were able to get many people free photos (and did not have to wait in line to take photos, which is something I don't like to do). One of my favorite murals that I saw was has an astronaut making a heart with both hands. I like the reference to Houston Space Center since that is unique to the city and the heart is just a nice heartfelt touch. The mural that has the word Houston on it (see my photos) was painted by Mario Enrique Figueroa Jr, who also painted the Houston is inspired (found in downtown, not here). Just as other fellow Yelp members has mentioned in their reviews, this isn't in the nicest neighborhood. But I didn't feel unsafe and I don't think you will have a problem if you come during the day. If you are looking for some cool murals, consider making a stop over here and appreciate some of the street art that has been done by local artists. read more

Looking for an Instagram worthy photo...this is the spot for you! We visited Houston for the first time and saw this on google maps in route from Hobby airport to our Hotel in midtown Downtown. Its right outside the skyscrapers cityscape and in an area with buildings I am assuming are abandoned. The parking lot to Graffiti park is free and easy to access. There is a city sign before you pull in asking to pay $2 and where to send the payment. I am assuming they are using that money for the upkeep of the area and for the artists. Don't feel obligated to pay that nor is it required but a great way to say thank you for the experience so they can maintain the area and keep clean and accessible to all. The graffiti art is among the best I have seen. The most creative and a reflection of Houston. My favorite are the black in white graffiti of a man's face and the angel wings that says the sky's the limit. Not to mention many others! This is the place to stop by and check out. Many others say the area is sketchy but I think any downtown area can be. Yes, Houston has homeless people walking and loitering around but they don't bother you if you don't bother them. Not one approached us nor were close in the area. Other than that I felt safe. Other tourist were there at the same time and a small crowd taking photos were all we saw. read more

Pretty cool park with tons of murals for all to enjoy! I did notice some shady people hanging out, so be careful, I would not go at night. Lots of parking, they charge $2 for cars, one us just stayed in the car to avoid any issues due to the area. It was not crowded, I went on a Saturday morning. I decided to stop by here when I was out and about with my kids. The weather was nice and we looked alright so we stopped to take some pics. We went on a Saturday and it's right across the street from Sekai (a club that has day parties) so parking sucked but I lucked up and got a good spot. So keep that in mind if you go on a weekend. Because of that we couldn't get pics in from of all of the murals bc of parked cars for their event. But the art is fantastic, great downtown views and I met some dope people. I just don't recommend afternoons/weekends if you don't like troublesome parking or crowds. read more

Finally made it out here. Went on a weekday early and not crowded at all. This is a really cool spot to visit. A lot of nice artwork out there. Now there has been a little changes from what I seen in pictures that were posted. They did tear down the staircase that used to be there. I took my daughter and her friend to do a mini iPhone photo shoot they had a ball. There is parking on the lot for for $2.00 and the is plenty of street parking. Reading previous reviews they did warn you about people asking for money, wasn't a big problem just one man constantly asking with little side remarks after. I love art!! A museum, sculpture and street art! I visit graffiti park about twice a year because the graffiti always changes from time to time to exhibit various murals by local artists. Tons of Instagram worthy photos and my kids absolutely love it. Please be warned there are a few homeless people in the area who will approach you asking for money.
