I had read all the review positive and negative comments from other parents. All the parents should be aware of Grade Power Learning Center. Both of owners D and L are not willing to accommodation with your schedule for example, if you go on trip at least 2 weeks and contact them. They get upset because they are losing money. All about them money and money. They don't care your kid education or learning. I have a concern about their book material as well as hired bunch of high school kids to do their job. Also, paying least money, no well training and not education to teach kids the proper way. Please if you read my review about Grade Power Learning Center. I did so much searching for a good tutor for my son and when I came across Grade power I was certain, they would be a great fit for my son. I was iffy when it came to getting a tutor for my child but in the end knew the benefits that would be beneficial to her. Within 2 weeks I have seen a huge improvement in her work and her focus. The tutors are all nice. While parents are not allowed on the tutoring floor there is a huge window to view the tutoring floor. Depending on time your child may not be the only student with an instructor but they make it work perfectly ensuring all students get the attention they need. The staff and office are great. Very professional! I like their style of approach with teaching children skills for approaching classroom instruction as well as homework and tests. A fantastic environment to teach kids thinking skills and strategies that build confidence. My daughter was recovering from an extended hospital stay and was severely behind in school. We looked all over for tutoring options and after multiple disappointments we found Grade Power. They made it clear they were interested in helping our daughter develop strategies to help her in and outside of school. She is more confident now than ever and shares her thoughts and collaborates openly. She also enjoyed her time there which is something hard to achieve in an academic environment. This place delivers. When my daughter was having some trouble with math we brought her in. They spent considerable time testing and talking with her to learn what the problems were and how best to approach them with her. Almost immediately her academic performance improved. First her quizzes, then her test scores, then her grades. I think the high quality and the small size of the operation make it a learning boutique. My daughter attended tutoring classes here around a year and a half ago, I've been meaning to write this review and just now getting to it, but it was on my heart because I think it's fair for parents looking to hear genuine experiences. What I liked about grade power learning is the location, facilities, detailed testing evaluation upon consultation and the material and format of tutoring. The issues I had with them that led me to discontinue services have to do with lack of professionalism. The tutors often facilitated an environment I didn't feel was professional or fully using the time I was paying for. Parents are not allowed on the tutoring floor so it was common to drop your child off then return to pick them up after. I always asked how this went and didn't feel time was fully used appropriately. One thing that bothered me most is that tutors often made videos and pictures during tutoring time on their own personal social media accounts, with children in them. I was very uncomfortable with this. The incident that really solidified my decision to leave was one evening my daughter was left alone with a male adult tutor. I mean completely alone in the building and at a night time class. This tutoring class was somewhere between 7:30-9 pm. I guess the other students in my daughter's group that night either called out or no showed, and there were some other classes going on that ended earlier and all the other adults just left for the evening. There was NO staff or anyone else in the building. My daughter texted me that she felt uncomfortable with the situation and I speed raced over. I let the tutor know I was uncomfortable with my child being the only one there and I stayed in the room for the duration of the class. There were no staff or anyone else in the building and some of the external lights had went off for the evening. The gentleman had made a comment as the other last tutor was leaving for the night about the center not having security cameras . It was just a creepy situation that made my daughter feel uncomfortable and I've raised my children to trust their gut when something doesn't feel right. No child should ever be left completely alone with just one other adult regardless of gender or anything else. It protects the child and the adult involved. At the time it was realized my daughter would be the only child in the building I should have received a call to decide to pick her up or not, or other accommodations offered. I tried discussing this and my other feelings about the center with the owner and not only did I have a hard time getting in contact with him (it was much easier before I was locked in to auto pay), but I also felt he did not take my concerns seriously and we ultimately left the program. read more

After moving to the elk Grove area from Bakersfield I needed a place that I could rely on to tutor my kids for their new private school. Not knowing too many people or many places it was very hard to blend in very quick. The principal at my kids school recommended GradePower learning, at first I was very very skeptical and worried that they might not learn much or enough to excel to where they need to be. Man was I wrong!!! From the first day I felt a new home feeling in grade power, everyone just seemed to be having a fun time teaching and learning! Surprisingly my kids always looked forward to going. The bottom line is that I do recommend great power learning to anyone who's kids need a little or a whole lot of help with most subjects. They have done a wonderful job with my daughter. Initially from failing grades, C's, and some B's, to a consistent A's and B'S. Their approach is different and not your regular tutor style, they focus on drive and fundamentals so your child can actually learn and be self sufficient. They are flexible with scheduling. Their price is on the higher end but I did not mind at all as long as I saw improvement with my daughter. read more

Where do I start...during my sons junior year of high school, between varsity basketball, AP classes and Pre-Calculus, he was literally drowning academically and barely keeping his head above water. At the end of basketball season, there was about a month left at the end of the quarter and I began searching for a tutoring service to help him salvage the rest of the academic term. I am capable of helping him at home, but it was a very frustrating experience for both of us. I began with yelp reviews, and GradePower's high reviews caught my eye. I called and spoke to David; as I explained our situation, David nicely explained how his program works, and that it is not the "quick fix" that I was looking for. I quickly realized that their focus on identifying strengths and weaknesses to help students improving study skills (as well as other learning needs) is EXACTLY what my son needed. My sons habits of preparing for the high level classes he was taking while participating in a competitive varsity sport were subpar, to say the least. David and Lindsay worked with my son and I to get him evaluated and started on their program that same week! He participated in their study skills program, and was also given time to at the end work on his homework with tutors who were experienced in higher level math and science. Even in that short period of time, my son was able to pull himself out of the academic hole he was in, and he continued working with the Grade Power team for the rest of junior year, that summer, and most of his senior year. All of the tutoring/learning centers out there can be pricey, but we definitely got our money's worth here. His grades never dropped below A's and B's for the entire time he attended Grade Power, due to my son's willingness to participate fully and willingly with the program and he seemed to appreciate the time and attention given to him. David's kind heart and love for what he does shined through in his side conversations with my son about college, engineering careers, and the workforce beyond college. David even took the time to write my son a letter of recommendation for scholarships during senior year. My daughter has been going here off and on for a few years. They sure do throw a learning curve to help your child to remember their math. My daughter Lila is going here for the summer time before she goes to middle school, and within a weeks time she is already improved on her math skills!! Let me start with how amazingly awesome and understanding David and Lindsay, as well as all the other teachers that help support and teach, truly are. I came to Grade Power frustrated and angry about my sons teacher and the people attached to my sons IEP and of course 'Common Core'. My son has had an IEP since kindergarten. He had open-heart surgery at three days old and they didn't know how he would be neurologically affected. Fortunately the only issue he seem to have was auditory processing disorder. He couldn't retain the information that he read and was failing horribly in school. My son was then in fifth grade and I didn't know what to do anymore. He still had his IEP, he still was working very hard but yet there was no progress. I called around to all of the tutoring centers to see which one would best fit my child's needs. I was so grateful to find Grade Power and David and Lindsay. They helped to walk me through all of the courses that my son had already been through, and all the ones he still needed to do. All of the testing proved that we were going to be doing the right thing. We found out that Grade Power was specific in the way they taught for auditory processing disorder. Unfortunately I had crisis over crisis going on in my life while trying to keep my child in tutoring. David and Lindsay were fantastic about changing schedules, accommodating times, canceling at the last second and just being there to understand what's going on. They helped so much and there's no way I could ever repay them. My son has been going to Grade Power for almost a year. He is in the last semester of his sixth-grade year and recently graduated from his IEP. He no longer needs one. I was grateful to know that David and Lindsay would be more than happy to attend my sons IEP. Not knowing that this would be my sons last IEP that he would need from the school. Lindsay was fortunate to attend my son's IEP meeting to find out that he has now graduated and no longer needed the schools internal help. It was such a rare opportunity that the teachers did not know how to write up the paperwork for someone who has actually completed the IEP and graduated from it. I cried and Lindsay was kind enough to let me hug her and jump up and down in excitement! Although my son has graduated from his IEP, and was doing much better in class we didn't want to lose any of the momentum that he already had. Especially coming up with seventh-grade and not knowing how he will handle multiple classes instead of just one. But I know David and Lindsay will be there for him no matter what and we will get through it. He is still going strong and doing amazing at Grade Power, and when he needs extra help with his homework he make sure to bring it to his tutoring session so he can get the extra help he really does need. Looking back I can't believe how much they have helped my son grow intellectually and in confidence and in the willingness to participate in reading aloud and class discussions and isn't scared to be wrong anymore. He's OK telling people that he doesn't know the answer to the question and he does very well at asking for help. He is no longer embarrassed that he might do something wrong. He owns up to what he's done he knows the difference between needing help and not needing help and now he even challenges his teachers at Grade Power. I couldn't be more proud of my decision to choose Grade Power to help my child grow into an amazing young man. read more

My daughter used to have very bad grades in math , always struggling with her homework. That was last year in her 7th grade in Merryhill school . She was getting Cs and Ds in most of the subjects . We tried very hard to make her improved but we couldn't. So me and my wife decided to seek help . We went to two other tutoring centers and every time we leave we did not feel this is the right place that it will take care of my daughter and it always feel it is all about the money, till we came here. They are very nice people . Always listening to what we need . Always doing their best to improve their students skills and grades . After only 3 months with them and after moving my daughter to a way much better school ( Al Arqam ) , she is a straight A student in all the subjects. I have been very impressed with David and Lindsey at Grade Power. They have been working with my son for several months and we've definitely seen improvement. They're very flexible with our schedules and working him. I've never had an issue with getting him into a time even last minute. They're also flexible regarding what they work with him on in his sessions like if he has a specific test coming up they'll focus more on that subject for him because he needs the extra help. We originally sought the help of David and Lindsey for our daughter's SAT prep, yet it turned into a year of growth and independence that we hadn't anticipated but fully welcomed. David and Lindsey hire the most incredible staff, who brought out the best in our daughter, encouraging and motivating her every visit. She is now more confident in herself, so much so that she has decided to go her final year of high school without any after-school tutoring services.
