I still go to William to get help with my homework and test reviews. They are incredibly kind here, and accommodating. I like the decor of the place (there are llama's everywhere...and who doesn't love llama's?!). They tutor in math, science, and other subjects. The building is really easy to find, as it is a bright pink building right across from the Phoenix Theater! They have their own parking lot next to the bank, so you don't need to struggle to find parking (as they are downtown Petaluma). The price for a tutoring session is $45, but you can get package deals that lower the price of the session when you buy the package deal. Amathoasis has many students who come in for tutoring, so you definitely need to book way ahead of time. They are extremely busy!

I love their program and have recommended them to many people who have been equally as pleased with them. What really appealed to me about their program was that the classes are divided by age group and this structure allows kids to learn age-appropriate skills and thrive in a fun and encouraging environment. This has helped my daughter to excel in her Kindergarten preparedness. I was consistently impressed with how nurturing and responsive each of the teachers was and the majority of them have worked there for 10+ years. Jan, the Director, is such a pleasure to interact with and the kids love her. Their hours, with drop-off as early as 7:15 AM and pick-up as late as 6 PM, were very accommodating to my work schedule and the fact that they are open year-round meant that I didn't have to figure out different options for a summer program. My family loved Children's Corner and on my daughter's last day, there were lots of tears and hugs from the staff and us. It has been such a positive experience and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to send my son there for his preschool experience when it comes time.

This happened over and over for severe months... To date, Christie has not and will not take care of this! I always trusted Christie since I enrolled my daughter with her and when I honestly brought up this concern as well as our last session because school was ending, she backlashed (didn't show up for set and paid appointmen/s) and has made no effort to correct the issue. AFTER POSTING ON NEXTDOOR- I see this is a common practice for her ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A YOUNG SINGLE MOTHER!! BEWARE OF THIS LADY- when things are pointed out, she will get nasty and vindictive!

They are more than just tutors. They try to understand your students' needs and try to match the right personality with your child and are more than open to feedback concerning which tutor might be the best fit for your child. I also appreciate the fact that as a parent, I'm not pushed over to the sidelines in this tutoring process.

It was a hard decision that I still sometimes regret. Just like any education programs, give it some time and have faith in the system, good results will show before too long. Montessori schools assigns lots of works to their students during school time (4-6 assignments completed each day plus research projects/teamwork projects) so some students might have a harder time in the beginning but there's also no homework which allows quality family time and the time for extra activities after school. No gradings which allows kids to like learning and wants to learn. Montessori education also provides the freedom to choose how much time students want to spend with each subject but yet still comply with the CA curriculum standards. The idea is for the students to challenge themselves to want to do better each time and they have just the right tools there to help the kids to do so. Doesn't that sound more like the real world/jobs after schools? Need I say more? Learning is just more fun and practical at River! Oh did I mentioned about their Science Fair and the International Family Fair and the Sustainable Creator's Fair that's all open to the public??? Today at the parent teacher conference with my kid's new teacher at the middle school, I was told she's kind, and she is doing well in all subjects. Top 20 percent of her age group in reading thanks to River's excellence Montessori education that positively reinforced their students to want to do harder and better. I am not the only parent from River that have this "after River experience" in fact, many have mentioned the similar experiences with their kids after River so if anyone ever questioned how the students are doing after River Montessori... they are doing great! If you are interested in learning about non traditional / alternative educations for your little one but still has your hesitations, schedule a tour with them and see the River magics with your own eyes!

Tiny Talkers, the Swain Center, and all their therapists have been such a blessing for our two…read morechildren. Our eldest was diagnosed with Apraxia of Speech at two and a half, after speech delays and severe lack of care from our primary care doctor. When she started Tiny Talkers at two and a half years old, she had no words that were consistent and intelligible by strangers. Tiny Talkers, and others at the Swain Center worked closely with her, and got results within a few months. They gave her an individualized learning plan that was tailored to her strengths and needs, and equally importantly, gave us as parents the tools and training to be effective therapists at home. Through lot's of hard work, our eldest is now at effectively age appropriate speech development, under a year later. They were able to accomplish this under the spectre of the pandemic no-less, with thoughtful, appropriate and responsible use of both teletherapy and modified in-person therapy sessions. It's hard to express how appreciative I am of their services; as we approach the Christmas season, it's remarkable to think that last Christmas our daughter wasn't talking, and this year she is so abuzz about Christmas and Santa and all the presents she's hoping for. It is the best Christmas present a parent could hope for.

She is behind in first grade math and doesn't really understand any of the concepts. They didn't seem to have any good tools or techniques to really help her understand. They just gave her a quick explanation and then had her do a worksheet. There was never any follow through or continuity between one teacher and the next. We were left after 10 weeks of twice a week with virtually no improvement. On the plus side it's less expensive than a private tutor, but turned out to be a colossal waste of time.
