I met with Mark and Charlene and their friendly demeanor put me right at ease. They were quite personable and had great information to share. The other thing I really appreciated is that they had different options for service, making it so much easier to find the right level of support for a price we could handle.

Talked to 2 other…read moreCPAs and they advised all the info is put into the system up front, and it only takes 15 minutes max to change from filing jointly to separately...so definitely did not warrant a doubling of the rate. Last year we filed separately as well and it cost $500 less! Nothing complex about the taxes either..standard interest mortage..etc. Only difference from last year to this year were a set of stock options that were cashed that were captured in our W2s...so hardly warrants the fee tripling! Shame on me for not asking the fees up front, but he was recommended by a good friend, so didn't think I had to worry about it. That will be the last time I don't do my own homework and the last time I use this company to do my taxes.

They STILL have not fixed the situation after phone calls and emails. It's complicated. They don't have a clue what they are doing, and their fees are outrageous. They prey on teachers (like I was) who may not be aware of what they are getting into. Fees were never disclosed verbally, and you need to read the very fine print. They invest your money in their own funds insured by their own company. We pulled out everything else we had invested with them and switched to Schwab - significantly lower fees and they actually know what they are doing.
