This is a somewhat or maybe a very chaotic store. And if you think the store is chaotic, wait…read moreuntil you try getting a parking spot in the lot. They have used books, used CDs, used DVDs, video games, anime stuff, manga, and probably a lot more that I didn't see. The alphabetizing of the products is somewhat creative, and sometimes just plain wrong, but the good news is I picked up about seven or eight used books that I had been looking for. I thought the book prices were mostly very fair; however, I thought the CD prices were high. I browsed the DVDs and there were good titles available. The store was very clean but was quite crowded during our visit. This is an interesting store, albeit not a relaxing one, but you can find some nuggets here if you invest the time. I would return.

Its maybe 5-10 cents an item i think i sold like 8 blue rays got 1$ back about, but ykno they sell things at good prices plus clearance! I think theres records, nintendo console, cassettes its a good oldies retro physical media store. When i sold stuff i met a short black hair girl, and she was direct. At least she was patient and repeated when needed. Got my ticket got my stuff looked at and met Brendon and he is so sweet and friendly guide to others waiting in line and he told me my total and asked about how i was ect just nice dude!

My interaction was no different. The selection will be varied as with any used bookstore, but they have quite a lot on offer for the small space they occupy and I ended up leaving with four books, myself. Plus it is a lot more guilt free ending up disliking a book you got for a buck fifty than a book you paid upwards of $16 for. It can also be a great source for those who want an inexpensive book that they won't mind using for an art project like book page origami or blackout poetry, since they have tons of mass produced paperbacks. The location they're in is also ideal since right next door there are amazing cupcakes, plus a coffee shop within the same mall. And the Santee Library is right there if you're local and have a library card. Super easy area to kill an hour or two in.

The book turnover rate is pretty good and we often come here every few weeks or so. Parking is cramped here and I think the ladies behind the desk are kinda cold/distant to customers who aren't regulars. The person in front of me had an engaging, friendly conversation with the cashier but when it was my turn the cashier did a complete 180 and seemed really unfriendly. Not sure why because I was buying 4 books and paid in cash. Oh, well, not my problem!

I love to give books or gift cards to bookstores to children. Bluestocking Books is the kind of bookstore I would specifically go out of my way to buy gifts for people, or to (gasp) buy a book for myself. There are little cozy nooks around the bookstore, as there should be in a bookstore. There's also a section for kids, with a little table and some reading material to peruse. Inexplicably, Bluestocking Books is closed on Wednesdays! What an interesting day to be closed, but I guess you have to be closed at least one day, right? Why not Wednesday? The people who work here are very friendly and helpful, and there's just a palpable welcoming vibe emanating from the store. It's a nice place to browse and find the perfect book.

We typically would visit…read morethat bigger one in North Park, but that place has become a hellhole for morons standing in aisles taking instagram shots. Hard pass. I managed to toss books like rocks at them as if I'm a bridge troll. However, after cussing out some 23 year old that cant even read, I've decided to move on to better bookstores. (Or I was told I'm not welcome back, same difference). Anyway, BOOK PLACE IS RAD. I am hooked, on the book. I don't really enjoy the Barnes & Noble because A) Expensive as hell, and B) AI cover art everywhere. So, Book Place. Cluttered how I like it. But in a good way. Like, you think you might find Iain Banks in the mystery section, but actually he might be in the Thriller section, or both! And you've discovered a new author on the way! I just love how it feels to have such a variety of books. Some spent time being loved by someone, and others, maybe were a gift that they trashed and it ended up here. Everyone who works here is cool, we can chat about books, and they'll tell you if they have something. Though personally I enjoy the thrill of the hunt for something I don't know if I'll find. I've always managed to find something. Plus, their prices are great. The buyback option is awesome. (Plus you have the opportunity to share what you loved... or didn't love and give someone else your hot garbage!) They've got a rental system too. So it's kinda like if Blockbuster came back, and had a baby with a book Place. They've got the oddities I crave. They have the weird science fiction with the holographic covers from the 90s and early 2000s (yeah those nerd ones). Star Wars novels, covered (and I don't mean the post-Disney garbage). I love this spot. It's not super close to home, but it gives me a reason to venture into this part of the county. Makes me very happy. Support this place and keep it alive because I need it in my life.

It's a small, tightly packed shop, stacked floor to ceiling with everything from quirky romance to vintage collectibles--and that's exactly the charm. AND what increiible value here! Nothing was overpriced even when you know you found a real gem. Don't let the curb appeal fool you--this place is the real deal. My wife scored a stack of fantasy romance novels (SJM, Ana Reyes, etc), and I stumbled upon a first issue of Sports Illustrated and a beautiful 1950s first-edition history of some of baseball's most iconic early legends. Talk about treasure hunting. The owner? An absolute gem. Super knowledgeable, approachable, and clearly someone who lives and breathes books. You can feel the passion in every corner of this store--Footnote is truly a labor of love. If you're in San Diego and love books with character (and characters), do yourself a favor and visit Footnote Books. 10/10 I highly recommend.
