Located right on the FivePine property, Shibui strikes that perfect balance between luxury and tranquility. From the moment you walk through the doors, you feel yourself start to relax. The space is warm and inviting, and it's easy to forget about everything waiting for you outside. This time, I booked the Himalayan Salt Stone Massage. I've had plenty of hot stone massages over the years, but this felt different. The warm salt stones seemed to provide a deeper, more soothing experience, and it was so relaxing that I actually dozed off for a bit, which almost never happens. What I appreciate most about Shibui is that it feels genuinely welcoming. It's upscale without being stuffy, and everyone we encountered made us feel right at home. I also enjoyed browsing the spa shop afterward. They have a nice selection of products and gifts. If you're staying at FivePine, put Shibui on your list. If you're visiting Sisters or live nearby, it's worth booking a treatment even if you're not staying at the resort. We made a point of coming back, and I'd happily do it again. If you've ever been to an onsen in Japan, this place nails recreating a natural onsen spa experience. From the minute you walk in the door, your stress is lifted off your shoulders. If you book a service, you gain access to the sauna and hot tub. I had the eyelash tint and lift and the woman who did was very talented and personable. Overall, it was a fabulous experience from start to finish.

Has anyone ever tried to sell you a time share? That's exactly what this experience felt like,…read moreexcept instead of getting free breakfast I spent $200 and left with my self-esteem in the gutter. I booked myself a facial as a rare self-care treat in the hopes that I could relax and enjoy being pampered for an hour. When I arrived, I was asked to complete a form and then sat with a sales associate for 20 minutes as they prepped me for the sales pitch to come post-treatment. The salesperson showed me a series of before and after photos of women who had been granted permission to purchase 12-month packages to the tune of $300/month. (They tell you it is only offered if your skin responds to the treatment-a classic snake oil sales tactic.) When I asked what happens if my skin shows no improvement after the facial, she said I would be "given a hug and told I needed botox and fillers". At this point, I was kicking myself for booking a service here (really curious how they have 5 stars) but was hoping at least the facial would be nice and then I could just pay and leave. I went to use the restroom (which was very dirty) and went into the treatment room with the person who did my service. At the time of booking, I was assigned Duran, the aesthetician on their website who had great reviews. When I arrived, they assigned me someone else without notice. The other aesthetician (Kristen?) was nice and knowledgable, but I felt so uncomfortable from my first 20 minutes in this place it was hard to relax. She took up close photos of my face with top-down lighting as "before" and "after" pictures. I was not asked permission and felt really uncomfortable with this. At this point, I realized I made a huge mistake in coming here. I also knew the hard sell was going to hit me as soon as I was done. I was offered a glass of water and told to sit down and drink it while the salesperson showed me the pictures of my face and neck, pointing out every imperfection she could find. She said I responded "beautifully" to the treatment (I honestly looked worse afterwards) and offered me the $3,600 package to help me "turn back the years". When I declined, she offered me 40% off of a $375 serum and $250 exfoliating peel. While the products seemed nice, I was so off-put by the entire experience I asked to just pay for the facial and leave. I'm leaving one star because Kristen was nice and zero stars is not an option on here. If you are looking for a relaxing spa treatment without the hassle I went through, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I decided to treat myself as they were running a special and was really looking forward to it. As soon as I arrived the high pressure sales began. I felt as if I was in a timeshare presentation. It was the exact opposite of the experience I was seeking. When you are taken back for the "facial," the lights are brightly lit in the room and never dimmed, you remain in your normal clothes and lay on top of a table...it isn't heated...there are no blankets, it's not the typical environment you would expect. It's cold and uninviting. Duran is nice and full of compliments but I felt it was all part of the schtick. The whole time they are trying to make a pitch to sell their medical grade red light therapy wand and their overly priced products. It lasts about 40 minutes, but I couldn't wait to get out of there so I was happy it was cut short. Once the "facial" is done, you sit with their sales ppl and that's where they try to close you on a 6500.00 purchase showing you several before/after photos of clients. I have no idea how this place has such good reviews. I can only imagine these individuals have never had a real facial and don't have a proper comparison. There was nothing relaxing about it. It was a waste of money and a horrible experience. Really makes me question reviews now.

First, the space is beautiful, it's comfortable and not the "hip sterile environment" that a lot of spas go for (don't get me wrong, it's incredibly clean!). I've moved around a great deal and have always utilized this type of service. Thus, I've had plenty of experience (sugar, hard, cloth strips, tweezing...all that fun stuff). It seems that most of those "waxing" in Bend, use hard wax versus wax with cloth strips. The end result (in my experience) has been it takes longer (one must wait for the wax to harden), it leaves more wax residue (ugh...), it doesn't pull out the hair as well (I was told it works better for those "hard to get" areas...meh!), and really isn't any more comfortable (I've been told it's not supposed to hurt as much...there's just no getting past that part). Luckily, Jill uses cloth strips (what I'm used to, and has always seemed to work the best) and I must say....there was not one bit of waxy residue and there wasn't a single stray hair to be found. I was in and out in a jiffy and couldn't be happier. I can't recommend Jill highly enough! If a Brazilian is what you're looking for...well....this is the place!
