- PART THREE -
At…read morethis point, we are just happy to have heat again and relieved that we can finally get on the road home. It's 6:30pm when we leave the parking lot, a full hour and a half after the game ended.
Not so fast, though.
Traffic out of Ann Arbor is predictably horrendous. We get stuck in a snarl of cars, busses, limos, and trucks for another hour.
Once we are far enough away from the Stadium, we decide to get off the highway to eat dinner. Due to the crowds at the stadium, we didn't have time to eat, so this is the first meal of the day for us. We tell the driver to pull off the highway at the first fast food chain. He spots a McDonalds about 5 minutes later, and takes the nearest exit.
This turns out to be a horrible mistake, as the lineup for food at the McDonalds takes 40 minutes. To make matters worse, after we come back to the limo, our driver tells us that he doesn't have enough gas left to get us home, and that he will need to stop to fill up somewhere nearby.
He then asks us if we have any cash to pay for the gas, as he doesn't have any!
At this point, all I could do was laugh at the situation, laugh at how horribly unprepared our driver was, laugh at the terrible condition of the car, and laugh at the total failure of Prestige to deliver adequate service.
We give the driver $20 for gas and told him how disappointed we were regarding the service.
Once he put gas in the tank, we noticed he paid for it using a credit card, and pocketed our $20. I suppose he realized he wasn't going to be getting a tip, and wanted to get something out of the ordeal. No matter, as we wouldn't be paying a dime more than the security deposit we had already paid.
As we drove home, traffic was bumper-to-bumper for the rest of the trip.
We didn't get home until 1:30am, which cannot be entirely blamed on the driver, but certainly much later than we should have been.
I will obviously never use Prestige Limousine ever again. I will also go out of my way to recommend that others in Sarnia avoid Prestige Limousine.
Let me be clear: I would give this place a 0-star review if I could. What should have been one of the best experiences of our lives was almost a total disaster, salvaged only by the sheer majesty of the hockey game itself.
Please, if you are considering renting a limo from Prestige, look elsewhere. Anywhere else, really.
