I was visiting my uncle and cousins in Cinisi with my dear octogenarian parents. One of my cousins suggested we go to Grace Pizza Di La Rosa for dinner. It was the worst dinner we have ever had anywhere in Sicily ever. The food was disappointing and the service was ridiculously bad. Some of our second plates came out first while others of our second plates came near the end of the evening. My poor father sat with nothing to eat all night while the rest of us got some of our food at various times. Then when we did get our food, it was awful. My mother's seafood tasted worse than some frozen fish filet, and it looked like one, too. My father's seafood was more chewy than rubber and the insult was compounded by the fact that he had been talked into that particular fish by the waiter because it was supposed to be so fresh and tender. Appetizers that we ordered arrived randomly and widely spaced throughout the evening. The side dishes came out after all the other food had finally been served, specifically, I got a plate of very oily cooked mushrooms with my coffee. It is a shame that the food and service were so horrible because the setting was charming, with with white table-clothed tables dotting the romantically lit lawn of an old large baroque villa. We had some wonderful dinners all over western Sicily, but sadly, this was not one of them. read more
