Disappointed that this was my last visit to Grace Nails. I've been going to this place for years, especially for the spa pedicures. Grace and the staff are usually very friendly. This time I got a gel manicure and spa pedicure. The person I had was new to me and was nice, but rushed through both services. The coats of nail polish look uneven and too light that you can still see my cuticles underneath especially for the gel manicure. I tried being nice and thought "Maybe give it a day and it won't look as bad." I went to work the next day and asked my coworker about it. She gave an honest comment: "Your nails look like you did them yourself. They don't look professionally done." If you expect even decent customer service, stay clear of Grace Nails in Wethersfield. I don't leave a lot of reviews. I only leave reviews if I receive excellent service or really poor service. This is the latter. Today was the second time that I arrived on time for my appointment only to be told that I didn't have an appointment, that it was for the week before, and that I had the technician waiting. Now, I know when I made the appointment for (for Mother's Day), and promptly put it in my calendar. I was looking forward to the appointment because not only was it my Mother's Day treat, but I have a very special week ahead. The owner (I assume she's the owner or manager because she's always very curt and gives off this "I'm-here-to-collect-the-money-only" vibe) didn't apologize, didn't say anything to even take some responsibility for HER mistake. Instead, she just told me that it was my mistake, that my appointment was for the week before, and that there was no availability. Trust me, I'm making her sound more pleasant than she actually was in the interaction. Please understand, I'm not one of those customers who complains, makes people re-do minor mistakes, or acts like I'm above the people who are doing something for me. I also tip my technicians well. I feel a little wimpy because I said "It's okay," and walked out of the place. I didn't make a scene or even say, "but this was your mistake." I should have said something more, especially since I've been going there for a few years, but I'm writing this instead. I will NEVER set foot in the nail shop again - there are just too many other places. I was a loyal customer, but have treated like crap by this woman in two occasions now - there won't be a third. Too bad, I liked my tech, but as I said, I'll take my hard-earned dollars elsewhere. If good customer service is important to you and part of what should be a relaxing, enjoyable experience, avoid Grace Nails. On a high note, I was able to walk-in to another shop in town and get a fantastic mani/pedi without an appointment I made a week ago. I'll be coming here from now on. read more

I came in with an ingrown toe nail from my nail being cut too deep on the side from a previous pedi. Grace said they'd be able to help me and handed me over to Bo who did my pedicure. He wasn't really sure what to do with the ingrown nail. I waited a few weeks to review this place to see if their work helped at all and it didn't. Bo was nice enough and gave great foot and shoulder massages. A simple pedi was $25 which I think is too pricey but seems to be the running price. Some of their pedis can go up to $55. I'm used to only seeing those prices at fancy spas where you can use their facilities for the day. Large space, plenty of parking. On a Saturday afternoon at 5pm there was enough staff and room for a walk in which was convenient. I gave this place 2 stars because I guess I can't expect them to fix my problem, however they were confident they could help me. Outside of that, they were average. read more

My sister and I came in for pedicures and the mail techs were very friendly as were the other patrons. We had trouble deciding on which type of pedicure to choose. The mail techs explained the difference between a basic and spa pedicure and the woman that was drying next to us chimed in that it's definitely worth it to go with the spa pedicure. We tried the milk and honey and the scents from the scrubs and lotions were pleasant. I may try a different scent next time. They do book up quickly in the evening due to Halloween fast approaching and people getting out of work. Mia did and excellent job on the foot callus removal and massage. I got a manicure and pedicure here and they did a fantastic job! The space is much larger than I had previously thought and they keep everything very clean. They are doing it be reservations and I was able to get one day of. My regular pedicure has been holding up for weeks now! I found this place by chance because they were open earlier and fit my schedule that day, that was a year ago and I've been back almost monthly ever since. I say monthly because they do such a meticulous and marvelous job that my nails (gel nails and gel polish) do last up to a month !! And i am not nice to my nails. I loved this place for a while. Then I went in I've day after calling and making a reservation action for a manicure abd pedicure. I completely forgot to tell her I needed a 10 minute massage with the pedicure and she had a hissy fit. The mail tech was about to do it but checked with owner and the owner said there was no way she could do a 10 minute massage that she didn't have time. I always tip over and above and I was shocked because it was a weekday and the place was virtually empty. After Jack left and moved to China the place has give down hill. Unfortunately had to write this review... I have been going here on and off for the past 10 years getting everything between gel manicures, pedicures, and dip nails. Well, I've been consistently going here every 3 weeks for dip nails for the past 2 years. Usually they're good but the last time I went and got dip done I had a manicurist who didn't know what he was doing. He put my hands in the Uv light after applying the dip topcoat (which doesn't use Uv to dry) I immediately noticed when I got home that all the top coat was cracking off. I called and said I needed to come back to get them fixed and explained that whatever he did was causing this, no apology from anyone for the fact that this happened. I went back and had someone else fix them. Instead of her starting from scratch, she just filed off the topcoat and put another top coat back on. A day later I went on vaca for a week when I immediately noticed the top coat cracking again, throughout the week it got worse and my nails were actually breaking off (my nails are short). Right as I got home from vaca I called them first thing and asked to come back in and was met with no apology for this now being my 3rd time coming in within 10 days, no sorry for wasting HOURS of my time. The woman who did my nails was RUSHING and clearly annoyed that she had to fix them again. This time she used a drill file to take off all the dip (didn't soak my nails like they're supposed to/ usually do, and my nail beds kept getting burned from the heat of the drill) she then proceeded to barely shape my nails, they're all different lengths, shapes, and widths- leaving them so thick and bumpy. She also didn't do the dip all way to my cuticle like they're supposed to, so I have what looks like nail growth (assuming it's because they don't want me having a 'fresh set' and want me to come back sooner than 3 weeks). I'm particular about my nails and always communicate what shape I like and nicely ask when I want something fixed, but I was so beyond frustrated at their lack of care and apology (and having to come back a 3rd time!!!) that I just wanted to get out of there and not waste another minute in the salon. I really used to enjoy this place but now it seems they only care about high turnover of customers and rushing to take on more people at the expense of loyal customers. read more

Was starting to wonder if I would find a place I could keep coming back to. The place is big lots of manicurists and lots of nail polish options. The price for a regular pedicure is so reasonable. They offer a spa pedi for more money but the regular included everything I expected and more! Spa chair- timed foot massage, exfoliating scrub and great attention to my pedicure. WOOT WOOT!!! FINALLY, i mean finally i have found an amazing nail salon. I was in the area and wanted to get an acrylic overlay on my natural nails, so i thought id give them a try. I was helped immediately to a pedicure and manicure. I was surprised at how big it is inside - very nice. I must preface this review by saying I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to my nails. If I don't receive perfect service and my nails do not look stellar, I will not return. I decided to call Grace Nails today because my family and I had been up the street for brunch and I desperately needed a (liquid) gel fill. Grace (who the salon is named after) graciously told me to come on in. I was seated immediately after selecting a gel color and given a complimentary bottled water. Eric (the owner) was the person who provided me with a fill and the service was excellent from start to finish. From expertly trimming my cuticles, to carefully cutting down and reshaping my nails in the almond/stiletto shape I've been rocking, to filling my nails and painting them to absolute perfection, I couldn't ask for a better experience. You also get a free hot shoulder/back massage with your service, which felt heavenly! I noticed a lot of customers were in for seemingly awesome spa pedicure services and had I not just had one done elsewhere recently, I definitely would've gotten one! I've only been here once and went because it had some great reviews. While there I watched them swap tools without sanitizing them. Once the guy finished my nails he repacked those tools in a sanitary envelope. Don't know if maybe they do that before sanitizing? To the untrained eye it seemed as though he packed dirty tools to make them seem sanitized. The guy who did my nails was rude and not very good.
