Not for abusing other children of any sort but because he throws "tantrums and falls out" "runs away from the teachers", basically be a 2-year-old. We had 1 conversation/meeting to discuss plans for my son to help him when he is upset and crying and not falling asleep with other children. I met with her GAVE THE SUGGESTIONS she did not come to me with a plan just called me to complain or ask to pick him up. There has never been a complaint from the teacher just the teacher's assistant and the assistant director both who seem inexperience but isn't at least the assistant director is not. The plan was not documented nor was it executed consistently but somehow; she expected change from a 2-year-old. The decision was made abruptly as she singled out my son and even tried to PLAY DOCTOR saying things like "we don't have the resources" several times during the conversation of her kicking my son out and saying "he gets over stimulated in certain settings" so you're implying that my son needs "special" attention. She also let it slip and said, "how much longer do you want my teachers to PUT up with him". YES! She said that! No sorry just "Okay poor choice of words". Yes I let her have it for sure because you have NO IDEA WHAT YOUR DOING! An experienced person in this field would KNOW BETTER THAN TO SAY THAT TO A PARENT! This is a "Christian" daycare quoting the bible Ephesians 2:10. I guess my son was too UNIQUE according to Doctor Interim Director Casey. She has no business running a daycare as she has admitted that she didn't know how to handle my son falling out and stated that 7 times within a 15-minute time span of our first conversation. Kicking him out would have been fine had they went the route of "hey we will try again but if things don't change, we may need to release your son" But she did NOTHING of the sort just all of a sudden, hey you have until end of June. Then retracts that and says actually next week, no explanation; nothing. He is the only black boy in that class and there are NOT that many at the entire daycare. As I said the TEACHER had NO ISSUE with my son that she felt could not be managed. Casey said she cared but then put the stress and strain on a family 2 days before his birthday fun at the daycare and with a week notice. Hire the right person and remove this interim before she really runs this place in the ground. You do need to enjoy what you do and it be a calling for you in this field and this is not for her clearly. You're in Texas and private but expelling a kid for no real reason with 0 documentations, infractions, plans nothing?? Right. BIG MISTAKE! My son did not have issues before she arrived. Also teach some of your younger and new assistants to be patient and NOT tell parents everyday "they had a bad or good day today". Let these parents make it sometimes with just a pick up! After months of my son attending, he was truly the happiest he's ever been every single day I picked him up. That true spirit of JOY we are all born with was absolutely glowing in him from drop off and throughout the day, all the way to pick up time. I loved seeing the framed pictures on the walls of the prayer team praying over the building as it was built. It's our duty as parents to pray over our kiddos, invite the Holy Spirit into the building with us, and to remember it's not just the responsibility of the teachers and admin to do it all. We are all in this together. My son made amazing friends in his class. Other teachers were always so polite and friendly and loving when we'd see them in the hallways. Otis is learning so much his ABCs, fun learning songs, and even sign language! It's been such a joy watching him grow and gain confidence in this environment. What really stands out to me is how every teacher knows him. They talk to him, greet him in the hallways, and communicate with him as they pass by. It makes you feel like your child is genuinely known and valued, not just watched. I also love seeing how the older kids know him too hearing them call out his name is the sweetest thing and shows what a connected, loving environment this daycare has. He's not stuck in just one room; he gets to explore throughout the daycare, and they spend plenty of time outside playing, which I really appreciate. The director is absolutely wonderful. They show up to birthday parties on their time off, they cry with you when you move up classes, and they have been there for a long time and consistency means something. As he walked up he saw his little girl half on the railroad tie and half in the playground area lying there. She had been hurt and the teacher was only sitting next to her. Not holding her or giving her any comfort. They approached him only to make him sign a waiver of the accident. Sept. 15 when I picked up my 21 month old daughter, Sandra (Director) stated she was "at her wits end", only a week after preschool started. As a first-time parent, I was stunned to hear a teacher say this and became concerned for my daughter's well-being. I asked Sandra the next day how much time we would be given to allow my daughter a period of adjustment and she responded with Sept. 24th. This preschool only had a total of 7 students (toddlers, three's and pre-k). On Monday, Wednesday and Friday they had all 7 students attending. On Tuesdays and Thursdays it was only 3 children total. I asked why the head count was so low. The first excuse was due to Covid, the second excuse was due to no small children living in the area. No one wants to put their child in a faith-based preschool facility when the teachers have no patience to work with a small toddler, that's the real reason the student count is so low. I've requested a partial refund for this due to the facility giving up on my toddler. No other preschool or daycare facility should do this to a child. I'm due a tuition reimbursement, supply and registration fee. I would highly discourage any parent to use this preschool. They expected a toddler to sit amongst two other 4 year old children and color for 20 mins. I don't know any toddler that will sit still for 20 mins. We tried going to a playground in our neighborhood and my little girl was very upset, like she was traumatized from what happened at Edge Park. No care-taking professional should treat a child or parent the way we were treated.
