I am so disappointed with this daycare. If I hadn't been so desperate to switch daycares because of our experience with the daycare before this one, I would not have brought my child here. THERE IS NO PLAYGROUND FOR THE KIDS TO PLAY AND RELEASE ALL THEIR LITTLE ENERGETIC SELVES....when Sharon showed us where the kids "played" my jaw was on the ground and my daughter was like "Where's the slide? Where's the swings?" It's a backyard with a small cemented area for chalk I guess? With some metal cars that sit there for them to pretend to drive. The ones I used to play on when I was in elementary school. There isn't anything wrong with that but those babies NEED to wear themselves out which in turn would make it easier on the staff. The atmosphere in the building just seemed so cold and muggy..Like a cellar or storm shelter. Very gloomy and all the teachers just seemed so tired and unappreciated. Sharon needs to retire. She has zero patience when it comes to kids. I don't know how or why people decide to Open and Run a daycare when you don't have a soft spot for children. Probably for all the tax benefits since her husband owns his own Finance and Tax company. Lunch & Snacks had to be provided by the parents, which was fine. I knew what my child was having, but when they had a party for a Holiday, they got Chik-Fil-A for everyone and gave 3 nuggets to each kid. That was it. The "Tuition" increased every year for Lord knows why because she's not giving it to her staff and dang sure not investing it into her business. She does not have your child's best interest in mind. WHY IS THERE NO PLAYGROUND OR TALK OF A PLAYGROUND?? She could've said that she was increasing intuition so she could get more activities or things for the kids. I have had my son with Sharon the owner of Cornerstone since he was 6 months old. He is now 4 1/2. I could not be happier with the school and staff. My son begs to go to school and hugs the staff and calls the director memaw when we leave. As far as curriculum, my son is always learning something new and new singing songs. I love that all the classes are smaller. In the summer my sons teacher set up a tent in the classroom and read stories in there. I love that! Why can't learning be fun also. My child attended this "academy" for 4 months. We moved from the Austin area & loved her previous school. I heard about Cornerstone from another mother at the school. When I visited there I must admit I was fooled. They put on this show that they teach the kids about the bible, have learning activities each day, & follow a schedule. When my daughter first started there she hated it. I decided she was out of whack from the move. She started having accidents after having none for a year. Then they suddenly stopped. Around this time two mothers asked me what they thought of one of the teachers because they were concerned. Through them I learned my daughter's main teacher walked out of work one day. She became a lot happier! I felt bad that I blamed her unhappiness on our move when in reality it was a teacher. Problems continued to happen though. She wasn't coming home with new words, songs, or anything new like her previous daycare. She never came home with any bible worksheets. This alerted me that there was no learning going on. I put her on a waiting list at 2 schools hoping they would have an opening soon. Then my daughter began having injuries with no explanation. She came home with her hand swollen & bruised & a cut lip on another day as well as other small things. Each time I asked what happened the owner would tell me she didn't know but would come up with stories of what may have happened. I understand that kids get hurt but no one could ever tell me how/why/when. Around 3.5 month my daughter attended I received a letter that the teacher that walked out had returned. I called & complained. The owner told me that the teacher had changed. She said that she didn't realize how bad the teacher had it before but if I could see her I would see the change. I didn't care that's not my problem. I told her that my daughter wasn't to be in her class. I was told my daughter would be moved in the older classroom to avoid this teacher. She did not. I found out that my daughter was exposed to this teacher on several occasions. I once again called & checked on the waiting lists at other schools.Then one day I went in to pick up my daughter & I stood outside her classroom. She was standing just outside of the bathroom doorway with her pants around her ankles. She was crying & asking for toilet paper. The secretary was watching her & two other boys. The secretary was very rude to my daughter & told her "its in the bathroom" several times without helping her. She was very short with her. Then my daughter said "Mommy". The secretary's behavior changed & she put on this show by singing the hand washing song. I confronted the secretary & she lied saying my daughter only asked once. I spoke with the owner immediately & I could the conversation was going nowhere as usual so I pulled her out of school that day & filed a complaint. Every time I would talk to the owner about the problems I was having she would talk in circles, come up with her own thoughts of what could have happened, & nothing would be fixed. It became clear that talking to her was a waste of time & a lot of it because she is unable to stop talking. I had an uneasy feeling about the daycare the entire time I took her there. I feel like I let her down as a parent by letting her go there as long as I did. Please please do not leave your child with these people! read more
