Tonight, when I was laying in bed, I once again thought of our stay here and my memory of it makes me want to go back and stay again over and over again. I had to search through my photos on my phone to remember the name of this place but I finally found it!...So many great things to say-From the couple that owns it and their hospitality, to all of the charm, authenticity, and character that this old home has to offer, to the amazing breakfast provided by the owner who used to be a chef! I still drool thinking about the eggs Benedict that she made me. Absolutely THEE BEST eggs Benedict I have ever eaten. None has compared since having hers. I would go back just to eat them and her hollandaise sauce. The rooms, too were just amazing. Clean, decorated so nicely and everything was renovated. They make sure you have everything you need as well. Just simply an amazing stay. I cannot say enough good things about this place and the owners. They're so kind, personable, and detail oriented. Regina and Fred own the inn. The are unbelievable cordial, caring and accommodating. Our room was so comfortable and we slept so well Regina is a trained chef and had gourmet breakfasts every day. She checked to make sure our tastes were met and each breakfast was so yummy. Great coffee. Cookies in our room The inn itself is an old home that has been done so nicely. Our room had a new bathroom and shower. We had everything we needed to relax. The grounds are prestigious. I had the Garden Room, which was so pretty. I'm a huge fan of Art Deco and almost lost it when I saw the incredible Art Deco vanity and matching bed frame in my room. I absolutely enjoyed getting ready in the morning in front of the vanity like a 1930s goddess, lol! The home itself is from the 1800s and has so much character. Breakfast here is continental--grab, enjoy, and go--and it's a perfect place to wind down for the night. They have a pool table, games, local history books, a full kitchen, flat-screen TVs in every room, and so much more. This place is a total gem and I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if I were in town. Pro tip: Be sure to pack a hairdryer, though! That's the one thing I forgot to ask about.

Kay and Robert's home-a short walk from downtown and the Farmer's Market-is light, airy and colorful. From the profusion of flowers in their gardens to Robert's amazing handcrafted furniture, the home is lovely, colorful and peaceful. The B&B has a European feel, perhaps because Robert is Scottish, and you feel as if you are staying with friends, rather than at a hotel. Guests enter through a garden path and comfortable three-season porch to their own private hallway. On one side is a small but functional full bathroom, and on the other is the spacious bedroom. In the bedroom, a queen bed, gorgeous armchair and ottoman, nightstands, tables and shelves share the space without ever crowding it. We enjoyed reading or working in the armchair with the windows open to the garden. The street is so quiet that we slept completely undisturbed, and almost missed the delicious breakfast the first day. Kay and Robert are thoughtful and interesting hosts, who go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. We are so glad that we discovered the Fairview Bed and Breakfast and have no hesitation in recommending it to those visiting Bloomington.

Our breakfast the next morning was also wonderful. The employees were very nice and accommodating. I should note that our stay was not during the school year. One other reviewer has reported that the Composer House can be noisy when IU is in session and I can believe that's the case. Student apartments are nearby. I'm sure my wife and I will be back, but we will watch the academic calendar closely.

An evening sweet treat is served by Zack who was an executive chef and restaurateur before owning this historic B&B. We were surprised with wine glasses, a birthday card and sign after we returned from a show. The restaurant recommendation was spot on! The map provided by Donna, the co-owner took us directly to our location, with no need for GPS. As Zack says, "Their hospitality is a full contact sport." The cleanliness is impeccable! The fresh fruit cup at breakfast is a full meal within itself! And it's only the first course. This is exactly how enjoying a getaway should feel. The bed was a bit harder than I like and it would be great to offer a hair dryer as they are too bulky for a traveler to pack. Overall, I lovely place to stay.

The house, over Labor Day weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday night), cost us $440 (total) for 5 people. The house has two bedrooms and bathrooms, a nice, fully equipped kitchen and a patio/deck with a gas grill. There is a washer and dryer in the first-floor bathroom. Our third person stayed on the hideaway bed, but we also found a nice twin mattress set upstairs. The house was clean, cozy and really nice! We were within walking distance of everything in town. There was only one potential snag in the whole experience....our GPS's had us all turned around (we were on 5 motorcycles), so we ended up asking some police officers that were parked at the gas station where the house was. We would never have found it, had we not gotten an escort from the nice police officer! He knew the house and said, "Follow me--it's tricky." The street sign had two names on it, with the one we needed to see, all covered up by tree branches. Note to the lovely Vesta: Please warn people of this, because it would be nearly impossible to find in the dark. Be sure to bring TP, paper towels, a sponge and dish soap. We'll stay there again. It was a wonderful house and a great deal!
