Retro theater is going strong. This small movie theater is still alive because of the college as they give a great student discount on tickets. If they didn't have that I am not sure it would stay afloat. Here you have to buy directly at the ticket counter or prepaid online, but no assigned seats so you need to go early or you risk not being sat with your group. The screen rooms are not stadium seating so its a slight lower slope. A seat in the back at this place is actually the best. The seats are leather material but do not recline or have any features like adjustable arm rests -- just a comfy chair. The concessions are mid and lack luster so I recommend eating before your film and just enjoy a box of candy and slushy there if you need to. For accessibility it's decent with the accessibility parking on the side. They need automatic doors. The bathroom smelled awful so I just washed my hands and got out. read more

This is a small movie theatre in the city of Columbia and overall it is good for what it is! It is very small with only a few theatre rooms and small concessions stand so there can be a wait to get your tickets and get inside the theaters. The prices are reasonable especially since they give student discounts! I can tell this theatre is old because the seats are quite worn but if you're just looking to see a casual movie the prices are reasonable. I have gone to the theater at Forum since it was built and have seen hundreds of movies there. The last several times have not been great. I have literally had to hold my ears during the previews and movies. This past weekend I took my 6-year old grandson to see the Mario movie and he too held his ears because it is so loud it hurts your eardrums. Management has the Dolby sound system at full blast and it is not an enjoyable experience going to see movies there any longer. THE SOUND IS TOO LOUD. Theater seats are comfortable and lots of leg room. Everything is clean with the exception of the bathrooms. Men's room smells of urine bad. The only thing to purchase at the Consecution stand is candy, popcorn, and drinks. They don't offer hot food during the day either. Forum 8 is a fun weekday date night spot! Tuesday's they have a $5.50 ticket sale for any movie! The staff is friendly and the theatre seats are very comfy! Only sad thing to note is they don't have coke products! read more

One of the less great movie theater experiences I've had... theater is very dirty & outdated - for the price of tickets I would expect it to be more updated. Very warm in the theater/AC was barely on during the summer & was stuffy/uncomfortable. The seats are LOW - if you have kids even 5-8 years old they may have trouble seeing the screen without a booster seat which was frustrating. Not able to choose your own seats ahead of time & the seats themselves were very basic/just okay and could be updated as well. Overall just an okay experience, but I have been to much nicer theaters for the same price. read more

They keep changing a rule saying 16 and under can't go to the movies after 6pm, now it's 17 and under!!! They are going to lose all their business!! Almost all teenagers can't go to the movies after 6??? That's ridiculous. read more

I like this theater a LOT. It's smaller than the theater I grew up going to, and definitely smaller than the other theater in town, but I've genuinely never had a bad experience here. Since it's fairly small, the parking lot tends to fill up pretty quickly, but once you get inside there's rarely a wait. Tickets aren't bad, especially with student ID, and I also usually use my Pocket Points to get a soda and popcorn for cheap. A while back I decided to try the D-box seats. They move, vibrate, and tilt in coordination with the movie. I thought it was super interesting! The first time it moved it was pretty startling, but I got used to the motion really quickly and did feel immersed in the film. My husband said it was stupid though, so your mileage may vary. It's only available for one movie/one theater at a time so not much variety, but I encourage everyone to try it at least once. read more

Based on Yelp reviews we checked out this theater vs going to the the "bigger one" in town. Great choice! No long lines for tickets or concessions. While seating wasn't "stadium" the seats were comfortable and being a shorty, I had no issues seeing over the chairs. Very clean place and prices seemed cheaper than other places we have been to. 2 tickets on a Sat night were $18. Looks like a hidden gem if you are looking for a fair price and no large crowds. read more

Forum 8 is the smaller of the two large movie theaters in Columbia, Mo. My family personally prefers this theater. There is plenty of parking, and all the spots are in short walking distance from the theater. The ticket booth is the first thing you see, which typically has two employees working. Their current prices are $9.50 for an adult and $6.25 for children. The concession stand is reasonably priced for a movie theater, and honestly, the food is pretty good! They even offer free drink refills and $.50 popcorn refills!!! We have never been in a long line here, which is great when you have little ones and you're typically late for everything :) They have quite a few theater rooms and they always have a variety of movies to choose from (comedy, family, drama, etc.) The chairs are probably one of the more comfortable I have experienced in a movie theater. They have stadium seating so you don't really need to worry about getting "good seats". They also have a "Party Room" for birthday parties or family get-togethers that you can rent for around $40, AND you can bring in your own food for your party (HUGE BONUS for birthday parties). This is a great, family friendly theater with competitive prices. read more

If you wan to see a wide-released movie- then this is the place. Comfy seats, typically not very crowded (and if they are the lines move fast), not the most expensive prices, and a small, well-lit parking lot. This theater is also much cleaner than the other large one in town. They also have a reward problem where every ticket purchase is a point towards free food and drinks. The Forum is a good spot for dramas. It's not as nice at the Hollywood 14, but it does have great specials on early shows. The sound was usually pretty good, but during action sequences, you'll find some of the speakers shaking. read more

I LOVE this place. It was my go-to theatre growing up and I still prefer it as an adult. It's not huge so it's not super crazy crowded. The seats are SERIOUSLY comfy (is that memory foam, or what?) and the prices are cheap (for me, compared to Milwaukee prices). Much better than Hollywood theater off Stadium. The theater seating is very comfortable and the theaters don't smell like sour food as they do at other theaters. Try the D-Box seats, they are expensive but pretty cool and your seat is reserved which means you can show up last minute and not have to worry about finding a seat. The concessions are great too!
