We went to GPK on a rainy Saturday for a late lunch. I'd remembered GPK from its Ponsonby heyday when chicken, cranberry & Brie/Camembert, Caesar salads, and penne pesto pasta were super (super) hip and cafe culture was the new black.
GPK Albany is set in the old village in a block of other eateries and convenience stores - a short distance from the more generic eating chains in Albany.
They've had lots of practice so the service was friendly and as expected.
They're known for their pizzas and so we ordered a couple of thin crusts (very good indeed) and yes, a chicken Caesar salad (nostalgically good, too).
The atmosphere was a bit like the weather.
Overall I enjoyed the food but if you're after somewhere with more of a vibe and better value (on the North Shore) I'd make the small trek to Takapuna. read more
