Gourley Construction has been working on a project in Oldtown Salinas for some yime. I can deal with the times they block easy access to public parking, but today was too much. This morning, a Gourley Construction truck with trailer was parked with the trailer in a handicap zone and the truck blocking access to the rest of the parking area. There was an unmarked pickup truck with no handicap plates or placard in the adjacent handicap parking place. The unmarked truck seemed to be connected with Gourley, but I wasn't about to go up to them and ask. Still, the Gourley trailer was firmly in a handicap space.
Handicap spaces are for those who have disabilities of some sort which impairs mobility. Those people include Veterans with injuries, Veterans with PTSD, and many, many others. Handicap spaces have a legitimate purpose, helping those who are not as mobile as able-bodied construction workers.
There is a reason that they fine for a citation for parking in a handicap space is so high. Gourley Construction should donate the cost of a citation to an appropriate charity, such as Disabled American Veterans.
Gourley Construction and their employees should be ashamed of themselves! read more
