Came here many times since it's a local spot in my neighborhood. My favorite things on the menu are the goulash, chicken matzah ball soup and the apple kugel. They also have deli sandwiches here . Service is always prompt and nice. Scarfed down my food but saw this interesting letter outside.

Stepping into Gottlieb's was such a cool, transporting experience. I (and other clearly non-Jewish) patrons were in flagrant violation of the dress code not allowing shorts, but no one called us out or made us feel unwelcome. Along the walls are hooks for coats and purses and shelves for hats. Sitting at the edge of the Orthodox Jewish community in Williamsburg, it still draws in a good number of non-Jews. The menu is fairly typical of Ashkenazi Jewish fair, with even some Chinese noodles and egg rolls from what I could gather. A lot of the food looks has been sitting out, but most of it is still tasty after being microwaved. The latkes were more cakey with too much flour and not enough potato in the composition. That was a letdown, but the coleslaw and kugel were solid. My kids also liked the goulash, which was tasty and flavorful, as well as the pastrami sandwich. As expected with kosher food, the prices were fair given the portions. But we came more for the experience than to titillate our taste buds.

Was in the hood so I yelped this place; had decent reviews so we stopped in; 1st off good luck finding a parking spot; had to double park n leave the wife in the car; no big deal..... Just a heads up this place is no where near what a real Jewish deli should be .... as far as the deli meat for sure; very nice senior guys working the counter / deli very polite n good service........... I ordered three hot Pastrami's on rye; here's where I noticed that maybe I choose the wrong place; the deli man pulls out a cold piece of Pastrami from the Refridge; then he puts it on the slicer n starts slicing very thin which I have no complaints about; then he puts the meat in a lil metal bowl n weighs it; When he got his desired weight which a didn't get to see he then puts the bowl in their Pastrami steam box....... so three bowls in and eight minutes later hot Pastrami; I had him top each sandwich with russian dressing that's what we like; 3 Pastrami @ 13.50; they give you plenty of pickles; also had to get three Dr Brown Black Cherry Soda's !!!!! Went back to the car to chow down; the Pastrami was good not to fatty n not too lean; had a decent taste; the amount of meat was like 1/4 of what Katz's n Sarges deli puts on.... hence the low price @ 13.50 a sandwich; I enjoyed it but the wife thought the Pastrami was too mushy with no real bark / seasoning you know that good black stuff!! Also didn't see no knishes ??? The dogs didn't look like the ones that we like in the real Pastrami joints !!! I don't get it ?? They have a neat looking Pastrami box but they don't keep the whole Pastrami's n Corn beef's n beef briskets in the box ??? Also I almost forgot........ they have a steam table up front with Jewish Chinese food !?$@!&? That was second time I realized that I definitely made a mistake by stopping in ..... lol A Jewish Deli that trying to sell Chinese food !!!

As old-school as it gets! A bunch of grizzled cooks preparing all the classics. My dining companions had told me this was open for about 60 years. I can tell they've got a strong following by the branding of the product and the demeanor of the workers. They are welcoming and kind to newbies like myself. They've got frozen dinners you can take to-go! I think they even ship some out. I'm not much of a soup guy, but we ordered chicken soup with matzo. The matzo was very dense, and this felt heavier than a soup would normally be, but it was good. I appreciated that it wasn't absolutely loaded with sodium, something they more than made up for with generous sides of pickles. I readily admit I'm no expert on these foods, but can say this is a can't-miss for anyone with some time to spare in this hood.

line was mixed up. Try to ask question about menu. "no one" assisted. All the cashiers are available.. sadly, the cook was next me & asked me if I need any help. Lam is only for the summer time.

Ridiculous...would have happily not complained if the food was worth it..

Very friendly people working there. The food was okay but I don't think I ordered their best items. Next time I'll try matzo ball soup!

I ordered a chopped honey turkey with onions, pickles, lettuce and mayo. The guy who made my sandwich was soo friendly and patient. I just put my trust in him to hook it up lol. He also asked if I wanted to add the chips and I did. Overall my sandwhich was better the next day after it firmed up. The flavor was good but the texture was soft, mushy and just not what I want in a turkey sandwhich. It ran me about 12.00 and it was worth the experience.

I went with two friends so were able to try three different sandwiches and to be honest, they were all just alright. The food: Roast Pork Special- Fried Eggplant, Provolone, Broccoli Rob- The texture of the pork came off a bit dry, the eggplant was good but kinda gets lost in the sandwich so if I literally had it on it's own I would have appreciated it more but who eats fried eggplant by itself? The rob was nice it added a nice crunch but didn't offer that much flavor. Giuseppe Special- Eggplant parm, meatballs, melted mozzarella. I couldn't get over how soggy the bread was. It was like wet paper towel to me. Soggy bread and everything kinda tasting the same made it underwhelming. Nicky Special- It just tasted like salad in between bread. There was so much veg, that was the main thing I remember in that sandwich.
