Ordered a 10X10 at access 36 near the Oceanic, per his suggestion. Coupled with two cabana chairs, we had ample space and comfort in the extreme heat of the day. Family friendly is an understatement: FAMILY NECESSITY. I'm a single parent traveling with my 6 year old son. We go on many excursions, but the beach is an annual goal. This will be our go-to each year! Thank you!

I hadn't been down in 10 years and this place was just opened the last time I was down. These guys know their stuff, provided great deals for my cousin (who bought a great XCEL wetsuit) and myself. I ended up having a fin yank off my board and pulled the plugs with it. These guys had it fixed within a day's time, all sanded and holes epoxied flawlessly. Very cool of them to help me out like that on short vacation none-the-less. I would encourage anyone who vacations around the area or even in Wilmington to make the trip if you need good surf gear and great service.

If i were in San Diego or pulling into Haleiwa it's understandable...but Surf City? North Carolina? I was near insanity, but too close to the shop to turn around. With the infuriating anger building I decided they had one chance to get my business. And it was slim. And what happened? Great, comfortable, friendly customer service. No pressure sales. Two days later and I'm back ordering a board from them. It's a nice little shop with pretty much everything you would need. Be sure to check out the consignment section...saw a cosmetically beat but great condition Hawaii Pro Designs longboard sitting in the back, in addition to a variety of short boards in varying conditions with varying prices. George is awesome. Send him your business. I've stopped into most other "shops" in the area and been brushed off, leaving me feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (minus the prostitution). Lesson to other shops in the area...don't judge a book by its cover - you just missed out on $2k in sales this time around (not to mention future business), as I'll never go back to your establishments.

We were in the right place (inside Carolina Beach State Park, at a tent near marina) and early. We confirmed with other workers within the park that this was the correct location for Wilmington Jet Ski Rentals. There's no one at the tent. About 10 minutes after we should have been on the jet ski, and after calling the company multiple times without any response, we get a vague text about how there's been some kind of "issue". They told us someone would be there in about 10-15 min so we said okay and waited....BUT THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! After waiting that extra time, we got another text that asked us if we wanted a full refund or to come back hours later to try again?!? Still no transparency about what the issue was. Did someone die?!? Is a jet ski on the bottom of the ocean?!? Did the workers pass out drunk? Wtf? We still don't know! We did get our refund but yikes, terrible customer service and no transparency. Just tell me some dude OD'd in his pickup truck or crashed a jet ski into a bridge and broke his femur...SOMETHING! We would have come back later or the next day if we had any confidence we would actually get on the jet ski! Never this company again. Bad look for the state park, too.

The last things kids want to do with the boat in sight is wait. Next, the guy checking me in was a great trainer, handing me the keys along with a quick tour of the vessel, the GPS system and the map. He even had a few great suggestions about structuring our trip. We opted for the knee-board add-on. We struggled getting up on it. I call the office from the boat (on a Sunday no less) and was greeted with an immediate answer, suggestions on how to learn the kneeboard quickly, as well as the opportunity to swap it for a tube. As fate would have it, it started to rain on our return to the dock, and it was pouring before we actually landed. The staff was helpful getting us unloaded in the midst of the downpour.
