They made sure we all knew how to paddle, including giving tips for a proper hold, how to steer, and how to back up if needed. Before launching, Morgan made sure we were oriented to the landmarks on the shore so we'd be able to get back. We had such a great time. The location is beautiful - right across from Onslow Beach Access and there was very little motorized boat traffic. I would rent from Paddle NC again! (In fact, this was our second time doing so.)

I signed her up online, easy, and got up early on Wednesday to go surfing. Cody was her instructor and he was wonderful and attentive to all of my daughter's questions and chattiness. After sand lessons and safety instructions they went into the surf. My wife and I were completely surprised to see Lydia stand up and ride her first wave for a good 30 feet. Yew! We kept the board for two additional days and my daughter continued to shred and amaze her cousins and our neighbor beachgoers. I highly recommend Surf City Surf School to one and all.

He asked for input about where we wanted to go on the ride but also offered great suggestions. It was a nice balance. The day of the ride was SO much fun. There were six of us and plenty of room on the boat to spread out. One of us has a bit of anxiety about boats and James was very reassuring. The island James took us to was peaceful and beautiful and it was amazing getting to float in the still water nearby. He even collected some shells for my toddler to bring home! James is not a Wilmington native but has been here for a while and has clearly worked hard on knowing the area well. The two hours flew by - we had such a great time. Before we got back I was thinking about when we could rationalize doing it again. Highly, highly recommend booking with Salty Feet. Family visiting and wanted to go stand up paddle boarding and we found this place on the way off…read morethe island while we were grabbing dinner and glad that we were able to go on a Friday show up with no reservation and rent the SUPs for two hours along the waterway You get a brief introduction on how to hold a paddle and maneuver your way on the stand up paddle boards and I did get the local shop cell phone number just in case we got stuck but they did advise us to stayy off of the grass since there are oyster beds over there and you can cut your feet from the sharp shells but overall a good time and will definitely be back when I'm in the area. They are also able to hold your keys just in case you do flip off and lose your items from the bungee cords on your board.

The main path (1.3 miles) is paved with additional dirt trails on the sides. The playground is absolutely amazing and my kid loved it. The park was clean and there were lots of people out. The bathrooms were decent and there was picnic tables under shelter. Parking was filling up but it was a sunny day in February so I think people were out enjoying it. They have kayak launches that I'd love to come back to try!

The worst place you could possibly choose on a "vacation". Today we were taken out with insane…read morewinds, rip currents, and a "tour guide" that was too pre-occupied with his Instagram and Snapchat than the group. I was about 30 minutes behind the group by myself nearly the entire time. It was the most challenging trip any of us (11 of us) have ever been on. The entire trip was a struggle and most of us suffered. We wholeheartedly believe we shouldn't have been taken out that day and I think the company was more concerned with making money than our safety. At one point my mother in law couldn't go any further and the "guide", tanner, was so far ahead that he had no clue anyone was behind and struggling. She was exhausted, worried that she'd have a heart stroke, and unable to move forward. One of us had to paddle up to let this incompetent "guide" to help her. He didn't have a tow rope, in fact, I'm not even sure what the point of him being there was. For half of the trip the current and winds were so strong that we were paddling and still moving backwards. It was irresponsible for them to allow us to go out. When Tanner was confronted by the group he quite literally said "but I checked the internet and it said the winds were 10mph". This company DOES NOT test the water before taking a massive group of beginners. At the very least he should have found a route that wasn't AGAINST the wind and current the entire time. If I could give them 0 stars I absolutely would. Unbelievable. Go to the place across the street instead.
