The menu is pretty much what you'd expect; tacos, burritos, quesadilla and a reasonable selection of tequilas. I ordered the Tequila-Lime tiger prawn fajitas which came with a plate of rocket, guacamole, Mexican rice and four flour tortillas. They were advertising litres of frozen watermelon margarita for $20 on the chalk board outside and as it was stinking hot that sounded like a good idea too :) The prawns arrived on a sizzling hot plate with slices of capsicum and onion - a very generous serve which was enough to fill me up without the need for an entree. There were the obligatory hot sauces on the table - four different varieties in fact - so I tried a different one on each tortilla. All good, but the Jalapeño was my favourite. Jaliscos is good and the service is fast and friendly. The total bill was $55 which included a shot of very tasty Patron Silver, so not bad value for the money.

We got a jug of frozen Margherita which was tasteless frozen cordial that had little IF any tequila in it, you'd get more drunk sucking the alcohol out of a deodorant stick!! The food was a very poor representation of Mexican, they used very cheap ingredients and it was sadly obvious that this place is either run by a tight ass or has never actually eaten Mexican food before.. The corn was ok, he nachos tasted like stale Doritos with home brand cheese that had been microwaved and the tacos were flavourless on stale flakey.. Over all we were very disappointed and at a cost of $90.00 for 2 where grossly ripped off!!

I'm a big fan of their curries with brown rice. Portion sizes are so large I generally manage to get tomorrow's lunch out of it as well. They will gladly give you a take away container with a bag and extra rice if you ask. The staff are always extremely friendly. My favourite meals are the fresh roti with satay sauce (made to order) and the yellow curry with ginger veggies from the Bain-Marie. All their curries are packed full of flavour with big chunks of veggies or tofu. There's a sister store in st kilda also, however they have a different name. From what I can gather though it's the exact same recipes. All meals are either vegan or vegetarian (marked on the board and window) and many are gluten free.

The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) was a delightful surprise! I'm normally indifferent towards the dish, but I was hankering for some as I was reminiscing about the okonomiyaki from my most recent trip to Hiroshima and Tokyo. It's definitely not what I'm used to in terms of the toppings thrown into it, but the flavors from the sauces were there. The chai latte was rather bland, but it was nicely presented. Maybe my taste buds aren't quite developed to understand it, but I only recognized the taste of steamed milk and a very, very slight hint of spices. The menu is quite limited, but their dishes are vegetarian/vegan unless otherwise noted!

We ordered a Negroni, a Japanese whiskey (I was talking so much, I missed the name) and a cocktail called Dorian Gray. The Negroni was absolutely superb. As good as I've had anywhere on the planet. The Japanese whiskey was well received as well. The Dorian Gray wasn't great though. A bit overdone with too much sweet cherry taste. Fantastic bar overall though. I'd come back anytime.

I visited Smokey's with not much time to spare before heading to work. There were only about 3 other tables seated in the restaurant. Ordered the BBQ pulled pork sliders and a soft drink at the counter and waited an average amount of time for them to come out, 10-12 minutes. Three sliders came in the order. They were fairly small, would have benefitted from a side of chips, but I didn't want to spend over $15 so opted to skip the side. The pork was tender but the ratio of pork to slaw was pretty even, wound up scraping off some slaw. The sauce was a bit on the runny side, was slightly sweet, mostly smoky, with a bit of a spicy kick, but nothing noteworthy. The only thing truly American about this place is the license plates and logos on the wall. The portion sizes, taste and ambiance are nothing to write home about. Don't be fooled by the 3 stars in my review, this is as 2.5 star average as it gets. Curious to try something else on the menu, but certainly not rushing back.

I spied a Kansas Jayhawk banner...not something you see everyday in Melbourne. However, to be a true American joint, they need to broadcast American games on TV. Portions are large as are the equally high prices. I ordered the Carolina which came with 3 pulled pork sliders and a side of shoestring fries. While not exactly the same BBQ you'd find in the southern parts of the US, I thought it was rather tasty. The pork was slow cooked and smokey. I wish they had lunch specials as I couldn't justify spending over $30 for ribs at lunch, so I opted for the sliders. I'll go back....they certainly tempt you with buckets of coors light on offer. There is also a location in Port Melbourne.
