Couldn't taste any other flavour ... unless my taste buds already shot from the heat haha anyway it was "tasty" ... I'll get back to this later... Had the $35 buffet option with plate of 2 mussels 3 prawns and crab. You also get single side of Vietnamese beef salad and abalone.. (these were good). As for the seafood... mussels were fresh and of quality. As for the prawns .... hmmmm they're not king prawns which is ok and at least they're not soft and mushy when u eat it. My guess it's cheap imported frozen prawn. But heck get by. The half a crab ... it's the kind after boiling all u need to do is suck it out. Sauce station was well presented and stocked (viet influenced) there's fish sauce haha ... only gripe.... no garlic or sesame paste (my fav) only the oil. The hot pot train..... haha hey this was good!! Had very good variety of tofu, stuffed tofu, beef, balls etc.. very good range. But for what ever reason the VEGIES ARE NO WHERE TO BE SEEN!!! It's a scarce thing. This explained as soon as a dude sat down next to me before ordering soup or anything he piled up from the train anything that was vegie.. my initial thought was ... hmmmm ok he must love his vegies and scoffed a bit cus only PRC do this kinda "kiasu" thing. But he was a white dude haha Anyway he proved waaaaaay smarter than me... he was in the know!!! No vegie for me!!! The "tasty" soup, I reckon was laced with at least 1 tablespoon of msg!! I kid u not! Half way through I'm thirsty like a camel more so than ever before in a hot pot. I also started getting headaches. This I only get when there is excessive amounts of msg. Anyhooo nuff said YMMV I'll still come back to try again. Overall it was a good experience food on the train had good variety and of quality albeit lack of vegies. Oh forgot to mention the buffet had ice cream and I think it was the 3 colour drink as well (will try next time).

We were in Springvale quite late after work and everything else was closed...super grumpy until we stumbled upon this place! It is open till 10 pm at night with all you can eat options for everyone. Service is fast and friendly, very clean and you have your own hot pot with a few soups to choose from. There is a self serve station of sauces, ice cream and fruit. Fun and convenient place to eat - the chicken soup base I had could have had more flavour though. Would come back for lunch!

The service is excellent. The waiting staff are polite, informative and do everything they can to make your experience pleasant. The food is beautiful. I normally grab either a chicken schnitzel or the roast of the day, and they are always really well presented and taste wonderful. A bit on the expensive side (with mains starting at $23.50), but it's a great place to go with family for special occasions. Make sure you book in advance. You can now book through their website, too.

Everyone is so friendly, and because a lot of the people who come here are members of the RSL, you see the same familiar faces time and time again so it feels like a tight-knit little community all on its own. As a member, you get really good discounts on drinks at the bar plus other special offers in the restaurant like a free meal in the restaurant on your birthday. There's also a coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine and a biscuit jar that you can help yourself to for free. This is right next to the pokies machines so it must be to help keep everyone's sugar levels up whilst they're gambling their savings away. Apparently they put on quite a New Year's Eve event here as well. Good times. I just think this place is cool for taking care of my folks and making them happy.

House of Delight is the newest Sichuan/Hot Pot buffet game in town, their price is $25 for lunch…read moreand $38 for dinner w/o drinks. The restaurant itself was spacious and quite refine, but their food selections were limited. Minimal choices of seafood, protein (pork, lamb, beef, chicken), vegetables and the ready to eat hot/cold food bar. They do, however, have an incredible variety of make-your-own dipping sauces to dip your meat into. My recommendation would be their sesame peanut dipping sauce, so creamy and tangy. Each diner will gets your own individual pot along with two choices of soup flavors - My pick was the original and the spicy soup. The broths were such a letdown, the original was not flavorful and the spicy half was extremely numbing and spicy, I was guzzling down lots of water with each bite, pure agony. Some of the highlights: the fried chicken ribs, the prawns and desserts which were quite delectable. Sadly, I would say 70% of the dishes I tried here, unfortunately, doesn't taste as good as they looked. The beef was not the best quality, in fact, most of the meat was a lot chewier than expected. The ready made food was cold, greasy and bland, and some others are just simply bad... The service, on the other hand was very efficient, they are really prompt in topping up our stock and clearing up our plates. Since this place can get really busy, RSVP is recommended, and definitely come at lunch for a friendlier queue. Overall, glad to have sampled a variety of Sichuan food at a relatively cheaper price! But feel like this might just be a one time thing for me. Best of luck!

Let's start this review off by giving you some background info about me. I've been to all the hot…read morepot places (Chilly Flow, Dainty Sichuan...you name it) in Box Hill and Glen Waverley, as well as a few other regions. I can tell you there are two types of hotpot in general: One that you pay for each ingredient (Usually Expensive, higher food quality), and one that's all you can eat. (Usually better Value, lower quality). Among all the hot pot restaurants I've tried, there is virtually nothing that can compare to House of Delight in terms of food quality and value for dollars. Zilch. Nada. Some information about this restaurant: House of Delight is actually not new. They have another restaurant that was insanely popular but was demolished due to an expanding shopping center. This used to be their second restaurant, their Ron Weasley. Their spock. Now it's their flagship, and hopefully more are coming. House of Delight offer all you can eat buffet style hot pot, which is an exceedingly rare feature these days. Most other all you can eat hot pot are priced at around 35 dollars lunch, and upward 45+ dinner (some you have to pay for soup base on top of the per head cost). House of Delight is priced at around 29 dollars lunch, 42 dollars dinner. Chilled Water is free. You don't even pay for rice. This really is the best value you're ever gonna get anywhere. The food quality is consistently in line with other hot pot restaurants in the region, if not flat out better. The broth is fragrant, spicy and lips numbing - which, by the way, is the whole point of Sichuan cuisine (duh!) - and those who can't deal spicy will be delighted by their many other choices such as Tomato beef and clear herbal broth. The cooked dishes are decent extras that you can partake, though at 29 dollars you shouldn't expect a la carte menu quality food (they do have those, and while they taste much better, you do have to pay for them). Some are still great, others are average. I generally recommend against munching on those, however. When dining in a hot pot restaurant, you should be there for the hot pot, and for 29 dollars you get all you can eat prawns and crabs. If you are an experienced diner, you should know that is incredible value for money. Another big plus is the service. The service at this restaurant is much more professional than any other hot pot places you will ever dine at (unless you dine at CBT, where you can be expected to pay over 130 dollars for a dinner for two, and even then it's not guaranteed). Waitresses greet you, remember your face if you're a regular, hurry to clear your plates, fill up your broth without needing to be asked to... No wonder this place always seems packed. Here are some pros and cons for people who are allergic to reading: Pros - Incredibly high value for your money. (High CP value.) - Consistently higher than average quality ingredients. - Great selection of food, both cooked and uncooked (fruits, desserts...) - Great ambiance - Quality Service - A variety of sauces to choose from (This is a staple of hot pot restaurant, so it's not that big of a plus, but it's worth mentioning that you do not have to pay for these. In some other restaurants, you do.) Cons - Quality of the buffet food can be a hit or miss depending on your time of visit. Great if you catch them while they were freshly cooked, average otherwise. - Can be a bit of a wait due to the restaurant's popularity. Booking in advance is recommended. - The tables are a little bit small, and so are the pots. this is important because you can't cook too many things at once. If you do the spicy broth may spill into the clear broth. Overall: No restaurant is perfect, but this one comes pretty close. Solid hot pot, Decent food. Definitely worthy of a visit for my fellow stingy brothers.

A few times, I've gone with a fairly spicy option, and although it was probably too hot for me (if I'm truly honest with myself, it was pretty much thermonuclear, heat-wise), I could not stop myself from enjoying it. The service was alright. Typical suburban Chinese restaurant. Nice atmosphere, and it can be a busy place at times. Worth a look if you're feeling adventurous.

If I had chosen the hotpot, I would have likely written a negative review because the choices looked unappealing for the price. Luckily, I went for the cooked dishes instead. A night at a Sichuan restaurant wouldn't be complete without the signature spicy fish. This came in a massive bowl with lots of soft smooth fish meat. Though it was milder than many other places, it was still delicious on a cold day. The gong bao prawns were more honey sweet with peanuts than spicy. The three cup chicken looked ordinary but was surprisingly well made. The chicken pieces were crispy, and tasted great because of the fragrant garlic with a hint of honey sweetness.
