So it's kind of embarassing rating a psychiatrist, but hey, who doesn't have one these days? Anyway, do NOT go to this woman. Her office is super depressing (I mean, even if I didn't have issues, this might send me into a downward spiral). She is horribly condescending. She was the first psychiatrist after I called twenty others that was taking new clients, and should have tipped me off.
So, because of the aforementioned lack of psychiatrists taking new clients in SF, I decided to go back to her even though she was honestly really, really patronizing. I mean, I'm an educated person, I don't need her to explain the difference between a psychiatrist and pscyhologist.
So she has a crazy cancellation policy - you need to give her 48 hours. A weekend counts as one day. So if you have a Monday appt you can't make, you need to cancel by Thursday. Anyway, I had a Wednesday appointment for 3 pm. At 2 pm Tuesday, my work called an emergency meeting for Wednesday at 3. I called her and explained the situation. She said she still had to charge me $150. And went on to admonish me, "well, you signed the contract. you KNEW you would have to pay if you cancelled, bla bla bla."
As a new client, I think she should have given me a little leniency. The circumstances were out of my control, and if she had tried to work with me (i.e. reschedule instead of charging me the entire $150) I might have been more inclined to go back. I mean, I gave her over 24 hours. She could have gotten another client (if she has any others) into my appt. slot. And I believe that she sacrificed building client loyalty for that $150 and the opportunity to really drive home her cancellation policy.
I said, fine, I would pay, and reschedule with her. (I admit, I sounded a little huffy... ) She said she would call me back with more appt. times... and NEVER did. This came after she made a change to my medication the appointment before. Again, if you change someone's medication, you should probably call and check in with them. Not just never call them again.
Sorry for the rambling review, but here's the point - do NOT go to Dr. Gorodetsky. read more
