When I was at the market this weekend he walked up the the truck with a huge box of veggies he'd just purchased from one of the local farmers and then turned around to go fetch another, which made me feel extra amazing about supporting his biz. The Veggie Delight plate ... An incredible Indian flat bread piled with hummus, chick peas, asparagus, and a tangy mixed greens salad was full on to-die-for and a huge portion for only $8. If you get a chance to attend a supper club or other collab between Gorilla Gourmet and other local businesses, do yourself a favor and attend. Highly recommend!! I visited this food truck at my work event & the food was 10 out of 10! My boyfriend had chicken/pineapple tacos to which he said were some of the best he's ever had. The salsa is better than most authentic restaurants. Noel is a very genuine guy & was very welcoming! Within my 10 minutes of being there, he was open to feeding someone less fortunate that we saw outside, so I do believe this business supports the homeless! Great food, consistent high quality, and fair prices make Kalamazoo's first food truck a real winner. I've grabbed food from Gorilla Gourmet at least a dozen times now, and I've never had anything close to mediocre. The constraint of working out of a truck puts pressure on the chef to keep the menu small, focusing on sure-fire winners. He doesn't ever seem to miss the mark. On the menu I saw there today were smoked pork loin and brisket grinders, the vegetarian "El Monstro" quesadilla with spicy slaw, and vegan carrot curry soup. I've had all the above at one time or another, and the El Monstro and pork loin are both fantastic. The brisket is merely excellent. I'm looking forward to this summer and hopefully the return of Gorilla's amazing BLT, which must be eaten to be believed. read more

These guys catered our wedding and it was AMAZING! Our wedding had 110 people and was under a tent on a farm and their food fit perfectly. Essentially, they hand passed small-plate sized entrees and then had a taco station. They offered options including whether we wanted a full sit-down style dinner or even serving straight from the truck. They worked with us to develop a phenomenal menu that everyone (even the crotchety, super picky old people) LOVED! I was so stuffed, I could barely dance afterwards. I had a couple day-of requests that they met perfectly. 10,000x better than the usual dumpy food you eat at weddings. If that sounds like your cup of tea, check them out for your wedding! I really wanted to love this place, and I want to support "food trucks," but after 2 visits, it's just average, maybe not even that. His "home" location is easy to miss, and half the time when he's supposed to be open, he's not. The chicken tacos were ok. Really gross. I can eat just about anything, but I had to toss the pork tacos after 2 bites. I would have thrown it out after 1 bite but I thought it was a fluke that all I could taste was tomatoes. Two words: gastronomic malpractice. At least those are the two words my father told me about his terrible experience in hiring Gorilla Gourmet for a catering job. The cheese plate was spoiled. Inedible. Made the room smell like the loo. A fruit plate was tiny and limited. The $400 job was supposed to accommodate 100 people (this was for light snacking), but was so inadequate only a few dozen even attempted to fix a plate. This goes back to the rancid smells. I planned my wedding with 140 people in less than 3 months. 1 month from the wedding I still had not booked a caterer because I was appalled by the quality, tastes and menu selection of every wedding catering company I had come across from Wedding Wire. Figuring there must be a better solution, I looked beyond the recommended wedding catering companies and found Gorilla Gourmet. With 2 weeks to spare Noel put together the best (most creative and diverse) menu offering of any company I looked at and for a much more reasonable price. My wedding landed on the same day as another big festival that Gorilla Gourmet was working - but NO PROBLEM - Noel sent his amazing staff and the event went fabulous, with no problems at all. My friends and family are still commenting on how great the food was and how wonderful and accommodating the staff was months later. The level of customization of flavors and menu item selection is seriously unparalleled any where in the wedding catering biz. We had a taco action station - highly recommended as they are known for their awesome tacos, plus it was fun to offer something a little different. They left everything that was left over so we had plenty to grub on late night! Seriously, if you do NOT want bland run of the mill wedding food - book Gorilla Gourmet. You can come with your own ideas of any types, flavors or international dishes that are your favorites, or Noel will make some excellent suggestions! With such menu items as caprese skewers, butternut squash shooters, chickpea salad, and pineapple-chicken tacos, not only was the food selection truly unique, but the customer service was unparalleled. Planning a wedding in Michigan while living apart in Georgia and Alabama presented my wife and I with a unique challenge. Despite obvious coordination issues this might pose for any caterer, Noel was able to develop an extraordinary product with minimal guidance. While more traditional caterers may only be a minor side-note in guests' wedding memories, unconventional menu items served from a food truck contributed greatly to the atmosphere of our outdoor wedding and left guests with a lasting impression. Maybe they are delicious. I will never know since they screwed me over and I don't spend my money with people who lie to me. I contacted them a year ago in early March to see about them working a special event in Richland in mid-July. The owner and I spoke on the phone after exchanging multiple messages online and, because their main truck was already committed he agreed to drop off some kind of mini wagon they had as he would be on his way to set up at Gilmore's. It would have worked well as our location was on the way from Kalamazoo to Gilmore's and I pointed this out to him. Two weeks before the event I contacted him to confirm a time...at which point he informed me they weren't coming because "Galesburg doesn't allow food trucks." I pointed out to him that, while that may be true, our location was in RICHLAND which had no such law and we had done very well with Bistro on the Roll (who was now out of business) the previous year. Well, he had already committed all his wagons elsewhere so I was tough out of luck and that is pretty much the way he put it. Not HIS fault he had been given incorrect information. How very unprofessional. He made NO attempt to contact me about the phony issue so that I could clarify before he committed elsewhere. Nope. He's not reliable. He will commit verbally to you and then, if something he perceives as better comes up, he will leave you hanging. read more

Yummmmmmm. Consistently fresh, hot, yummy, and seasoned just right. The slaw is crunchy, crisp, perfect sauce-to-cabbage ratio. I'd put it on a shoe and eat it. Noel clearly loves what he does, and is welcoming and friendly. Any version of the grilled cheese is worth the walk/ride/drive. Barbeque is top notch. Love the tacos, which actually is the reason for the four star vs. five star rating. I wish he'd back away from the pineapple version he loves...maybe it's a gorilla fetish or something, but I'd like my tacos straight-up, and his too frequently feature the pineapple. I like sweet and savory as much as the next person, just not every time I have a taco. This place was a HUGE letdown. And I say this with much experience in the food eating department. Now what would you expect out of a food truck? Overly large portions coming out hot and fresh and some creativeness you know things you cant get many places. I mean this is a food truck right? And maybe even some good service. The place was overpriced the guy working was an idiot and not the least bit nice. I ordered some brisket sandwich or something or other thats in the picture (which does it WAY too much justice) and it reminded me of a small lunchmeat sandwich my mom would pack me for lunch tiny as all hell with some cheap buns from the grocery store. My friend got the same, seen how there was only 2 other things on the menu asked for NO sauce...it came out loaded with sauce and when we asked them to remake it they were "out of the brisket." Bunch of idiots taking an idea and ruining it...There is no describing my disappointment, I really wish when asked if it was good I would've just told the guy because with some good advice there might actually be a good food truck in Kalamazoo but it definitely wont be this place read more

When my husband and I started planning our wedding we both agreed that the food was top priority and we didn't want to go with the traditional catering of weddings. Gorilla Gourmet was the obvious choice! Noel guided us through the whole process and had great communication with us through everything! He was able to create a menu that was unique to mine and my husbands background (Southwest and Midwest)! And as an added bonus he brought the food truck out to our venue!! We are still hearing from our guests how amazing the food was! Not only did Gorilla Gourmet provide food for our cocktail hour ( the caprese scewers and Chutney Brie Crackers were to die for) and dinner but they provided enough food for late night snacks which isn't typical for a wedding but was greatly appreciated as our wedding went on well past midnight.
