Dolce Lucano is a delightful surprise. Prior to visiting, I thought I was going to a meat shop…read more.. Dolce Lucano does carries meat but special kind of meat: Salumi, which are Italian cured meat products and predominantly made from pork, that is cured in salt and not encased before aging. Here in Dolce Lucano all their Salumi are prepared in house: Prosciutto, Sopressata, Caccciatore, Capicollo, Pancetta and more. Aside from pork products, there are also cacciatore that made from wild boar. My advice is to talk to the friendly staff here which is so knowledgeable with all the products. We ended up picking up a piece of Gunaciale (jowl of the hog) which is good for cooking. I also want to try one of their house cured prosciutto but I guess I would have to come back another time to pick some up! Now I can start dreaming about a charcuterie plate, a glass of wine and pretend I am in Italian under the warm sunshine......... or maybe even some Culatello!!

Pancetta brought me here... but I left with some Guanciale…read more Looking for a fancier Bacon substitute in the GTA, I did some WWW searching. What is fresh local, what is made-in-house, what is representative of Woodbridge? The answer lead me to this wonderfully designed website. www.dolcelucano.com One on One (www.dolcelucano.com/one-on-one.php): A glance at the webpage and it's easy to recognize the level of commitment. Another glance and I dreamt that I could make my own WaYnE brand Salumi. Maybe a dash of szechuan peppercorn, a pinch of... In my dreams~~~ Off I went to meet the local Meat shop in a well hidden path away from everything. Industrial manufacturing neighbourhood more like autobody shops than food eats. We step inside an average size butcher shop space with various items for sale. Dry pastas, canned goods, spices, but Salumi take up a good chunk of space. We go up to the fridge to discover, learn, browse, smell, touch and admire. Meat beautiful meat of various Italian cured and processed varieties packaged. Proscuitto, sopressata, capicollo, pancetta, guanciale to name just a few. As I pick up what I believe to be my choice of Pancetta, a lovely staff came... I had a thorough conversation with this Lady about the cooking with Meat. Ladies, if you wish to gain a Man's heart, simply learn to speak Carnivore. At the end, I was directed to the Guanciale as the Meat weapon of choice. Let's just say my dish of Moyin Moyin steamed bean dish was a fan fav. My accompanying friend says it tastes like Chinese cured meat... but then everything taste like chinese cured meat to her. :P Fyi, many restaurants use Guanciale to begin their soup base. Wish someone can give me a reason or money to visit this shop again. If I go on a regular basis myself, I'm sure I'll need a second mortgage.

I used to drop by this plaza often. It would mainly happen after work when I'd be driving home…read more Businesses at this plaza are spread out. The businesses that I frequented the most were Burger King, Mark's, McDonalds, Wok of Asia, and Factory Direct. Ever since I have been working from home during this pandemic, I rarely visit this area. After working from home last Wednesday, I needed to head into Mississauga to run an errand, Driving home, I realized that I needed a grocery store. I remembered Panchvati Supermarket. It was a few doors down from Factory Direct. I had never been there. It was time to check it out. I got there just before 7 pm. There is always plenty of parking. I parked and walked in. I was greeted with bins of Indian snacks. I swear that I stood there, looking at all the brightly coloured snack packages, for a good five minutes. I eventually got a bag of bhel mix snacks. I came here to get a hand of bananas. I normally hit Giant Tiger, as prices are the cheapest around. I got more expensive bananas here that came up to just over $3. I was okay shelling out a bit more than usual. I love checking out any grocery store for the first time. The produce section was cool. It's not every day that you see an entire aisle full of huge bags of onions! I also spent a lot of time looking at packaged noodles. Veggie Hakka noodles. Hong Kong spicy garlic noodles. Noodles without onions or garlic. Lots of noodles! I was impressed. It was neat seeing bottles of Horlicks from the UK. I learned from a friend that Indian folks often spell the brand as Horlics. I asked her why the k is dropped. She simply said to mess with you... haha! The spices section is extensive. I have never been so mesmerized looking at every spice package. It was easier for me to figure out what spices I do have at home. While I was lining up, I looked at the hot samosas, spring rolls, and puffs. A man was getting a number of samosas. They smelled so good! I had a friendly cashier. He was competent and worked quickly. I paid using a debit card. I tapped and was done. He bagged my items and handed me my receipt. I wished him a good night and he reciprocated. I have been driving past this supermarket for years. It was nice that I finally dropped by to check it out. It's quite the gem in this nondescript plaza. I'll definitely come back to dive further into the snacks and noodles. (8)

Very clean and well organized Indian Supermarket. They offer some vegetables and fruits. The okra…read moresold here looks very fresh. They have an excellent Basmati rice section and lots of curries, turmeric, masalas for Indian cooking. They also play very good music inside here. Just now I heard two excellent songs: "Koi VI Nahi" by Shirley Setia and Gurnaza And "Chan Kitthan" by Ayushmann & Rochak Kohli Two of my favorite Indian pop stars.
