This year the walk in tent sites are closed due to hazardous trees (sound funny - but i went over and looked and yeah, trees down everywhere It costs $5 extra dollars to get into the lake per night. So a weekend is an additional $10 on top of your site fee and reservation fee. Snow - there was still some there in july and it could come again as early as august.. you never know! Bring layers and big boots for hiking! Pros: It is within walking distance to the lake. The views are absolutely amazing. All the peaks! The clouds and fog did seem to descend right on top of you, so be prepared to be wet occasionally Tons of hiking trails! Beautiful - did i mention that? The restrooms are cleaned constantly and the staff are all so pleasant! Panorama Point is located just up the hill with stunning views of the surrounding mountains! There is an office on the right when you enter the campground which is where you buy bundles of wood for $5 each. For a nice size fire that lasts approximately 4-5 hours you'll need to bundles.

They sell firewood at visitor center for $5, credit card accepted. The elevation is roughly around 10,000 feet so pack extra water and clothes. Basic tent sites start at $30 and Cabins and Yurts start at $80. A little pricy for camping but the hiking trails and the proximity to Denver is worth it to me. Also if you have AT&T the LTE works for those with phone anxiety. Reserve online early most sites are booked months in advance.

It was WAY overpriced for what it was. But, it likely was the last space in the entire state, so I didn't complain. 2) the smell of sewage mentioned in reviews may be the smell of the river. If it's low it smells. However, while the river smell was mostly prominent at dusk, and didn't bother me at all, on our last night there was a sewer stink that was awful. Frankly, this wasn't an issue with the park, but the owners of the campers that probably didn't hook up correctly. 3) we had a "river view" space. We did back up to the river. We could hear it. And it was lovely. But the weeds were so high we couldn't see it. Not awesome. 4) the photos on line make this place appear as though there is a lot of grass. There is NO grass. Anywhere. There are weeds and dirt. The majority of the people here appear to be permanent or semi-permanent. And their spots, depending on the person, look well kept. The rest of the place is dirt and weeds 5) we met friendly people, did not have issue with management not being attentive, and we had fun. I would come back if the price weren't as high as what I paid($77/night for a tent camper). 6) the website was utterly terrible and did not have easy booking or updated info. There was an abundance of empty sites and definitely no wait list. She did offer to have us come another time but we live 600 miles away and no plans to come back through this way. We asked for the owners to contact us and she refused to assist in any way. She eventually hung up on us - I would not recommend this place based on her customer service skills. I had been to this park many, many moons ago. It was nice but since then - WOW!…read more All "neighborhoods" are well maintained and clean. The bathrooms sparkle despite being poop pits. They are cleaned many times a day. We found people are respectful and keep their dogs under control. They also have lockers at each site to put food in. There is a nice loop trail with an option to go a little further. If you do the short loop, be careful you don't miss the hard turn about 100 degrees to the left to head back to camp at the wooden sign on the trail. Enjoy!

We never saw a bathroom or showers cleaned in the 6 days we were there. Out of order showers, the ones that did work offered only cold water. The former Management Company was great. These new camp hosts never even raked or cleaned a site the entire time. It is shameful that this Company was awarded this contract. Pay no attention to reviews before this year, it used to be managed amazingly but in 2025 they awarded the job to a Company that does nothing.

This is a park of mostly long-termers, but they have a few spots for people passing through as well. We found this to be the best park close to Estes, without the Estes prices...and with good WiFi. At the back of the park is an irrigation channel with a nice walking path along it. Good for taking the dogs out. There is a large hill behind the park, so it's pretty quiet. Just across the street, about a mile or so up the road (towards Loveland) is Devil's Backbone. It's has a nice parking area with a lot of great walking/biking/equestrian trials. Easy hiking with great scenery. We camped here in a motorhome, and our inverter died, so we had no hot water for the week we had to wait on the arrival for a new one . Thank goodness for nice bathrooms!

Sometimes trips are hard to plan in advance, and we were ISO a spot with first come, first serve sites. Kudos to the universe for allowing the stars to align in our favor! + Along the Middle St. Vrain Creek + Two vault toilets located centrally between campsites + One fire ring (with grates) per site + Firewood available on property for $9 + Sizable tent pad, bear locker and picnic table + Walking distance to trailhead + Reservable and non-reservable campsites + 8 people allowed per campsite + Pets allowed We had an extremely enjoyable camping trip a few weeks back. Roughly an hour and a half from our house in Denver, Peaceful Valley Campground made us feel like we were thousands of miles away from civilization. For reference, the campground is about 8 miles away from the ever-popular Brainard Lake Recreation Area. We did experience some rain on Saturday afternoon which was a damper (pun intended). But because of that rain we were treated to the most spectacular rainbow and sunset. It was magical, just look at the pictures I got. The consensus was that we'd come back in a heartbeat next year. There's nothing better than going to sleep at night with the sound of a vibrant creek in the background. We're creekside campers and Peaceful Valley delivered an A+ trip for us!
