I am compelled to write a review because I felt like Dr Sachdeva went above and beyond in his care. After the chemo and radiation treatments were complete, I had a hard time breaking the cycle of nausea, dehydration, low BP and the occasional low-grade fever. Dr. Sachdeva stepped in to take care of my oversight, which meant adding me into his schedule before his full day started and continuing to provide professional, informative support until I was able to get through it. During that time, I felt the most vulnerable and fragile, and his steady, calm presence gave me trust. Thank you Dr Sachdeva. I also want to thank the team of radiologists. I can NOT say enough regarding my oncology radiologist, Gopal Sachdeva MD, Epic Care in Emeryville, and his caring healthcare team! They make you feel and believe you are the most important patient to them while performing seemingly impossible positive support (especially for very critical patients of which I thankfully was not one of but witnessed it). Dr Sachdeva was my doctor. I declined the final follow up visit. I got a bad radiation burn. It would have helped if he had told me to apply the lotion all around the breast after treatments - I just applied it on top, and the terrible burn (burned away all the skin) was on the under side of the the breast. Plus he told me I had to change the dressing 3 times a day and stand in front of a fan to dry after washing, so I caught cold. I finally went to my dermatologist. I used instead the shower-proof hydrocolloid dressing which can stay for a week! Also don't use diluted hydrochloric acid which burns like crazy and hurts the skin that is trying to grow back - use salt water instead before applying bandage. Also, if you are a short person you have to actually get out of your car to use the @#$%^& parking garage entry/exit. When Dr. S. saw the burn he grinned and said "I've seen worse" and then asked the assistant to take a picture of it. I'll never go back. The staff however was fantastic. read more

The office has a policy of not accepting patients with Kaiser insurance even if you are not interested in using your insurance. Made it abundantly clear that I was planning pay out of pocket completely to care for a dying family member and was turned away. When someone is dying - you can rest assured you will be paid! This practice should be ashamed. Cannot speak to the quality of medical care - all that I know for sure is that they are extremely insensitive and bizarre. read more

This radiation team (physician, technicians, receptionists, administrators) is hands down the best medical team I've come across. Dr. Sachdeva was wonderful. In our initial visit he was very very clear with the explanation of IORT and external radiation. A great teacher. After the operation of my friend he was walking in the cafeteria were I was waiting and approached me to give me the good new about the lump removal. During our last visit today 09/20/2023 he walk in and immediately told us that she did not need more radiation. This is a doctor that thinks about his patients and the anxiety that they might have and that is why he delivered the good news first. I applaud him for that. After that he proceeded with the explanation. Would recommend him with not 5 of 5 but with 10 of 5. He is extremely personal and from his explanations it appeared that he was very knowledgeable. Dr. Sachdeva was great. I had to do one month of radiation at Epicare, and had some trepidation at the start. He had a welcoming and calming energy and clearly knew his business, giving me a lot of medical info broken down so that I understood the process and everything involved. I recommend him highly. Additionally, his staff was top notch, especially Hallie and all the gals who actually to the radiation treatments. We had a great rapport and they put me at ease right away. I was treated by Dr Sachdeva for breast cancer and he and his staff are wonderful. They treated me like a person, not a diagnosis and one can really tell they care. I am also in the healthcare field but that means nothing when cancer hits you. I felt supported and they never took for granted that just because I am a nurse that I knew what there was to know about my condition. He and they kept me well informed. I experienced a personal loss during my radiation therapy and Dr. Sachdeva was very kind. No question or concern was too little and he really came through when there were HR issues. The Radiation Oncology Department is outstanding and Dr. Sachdeva is a prime example. If one has to go through treatment, you can be sure you will be treated very well here. Thanks and I hope never to see them there again. But if I met them on the street, they would get a big hug and maybe a cup of coffee or adult beverage :) read more

Breast Cancer Diagnosis July 27th for me was like being socked in my stomach. Yet, hearing the word 'treatable' gave me immediate hope and strength for the remainder of this never expected frightful journey. My biggest fear was in making 'what I hoped for me would be' the best selection of oncologists to handle my care. This fear was quite short lived!!! My PCP gave me two names for a Surgical Oncologist. I pulled up information, reviewed and made my choice. Surgery in September...performed by the best Oncologist I could have hoped to have, Dr. Lisa Bailey. Radiation planning session and first Radiation treatment in October; last of daily Radiation treatments December 3rd. From the minute my family and I first met my Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Gopal Sachdeva, and during every meeting thereafter, he showed himself to be approachable, attentive, confident, courteous, decisive, knowledgeable, professional, supportive, thoughtful and so much more. His staff? A unique group of individuals with all of the previously mentioned character traits personified, working efficiently whether together or alone. I could not have asked for a better team or be more pleased with my care from this amazing group of professionals at Epic Care of Emeryville. I felt I was not just a patient assigned an identification number. I was treated with the utmost care and respect that should be given every human being who just happens to be a patient. I will always carry Dr. Sachdeva's final words to me, which he wrote but then repeated verbally ... 'You are cured'. This was an amazing journey with some amazing people. read more

Without a doubt, visiting a Radiology Oncologist can be an intimidating and frightening experience, but with Dr. Sachdeva, it was totally the opposite. Dr. Gopal Sachdeva is the radiation oncologist you want if you ever need radiation treatment. He has been my doctor for two years. (two courses of treatment) He is extremely knowledgeable, extremely kind, extremely compassionate, listens to me, never rushes me, very respectful, warm, empathetic. His quiet and thoughtful manner always calm my worries and I always leave an appointment feeling reassured and happier. He is the epitome of an intelligent, compassionate doctor who treats his patients with dignity and never forgets there is a real person who is facing this disease. The women who work as radiation technicians in this department are also wonderful. Their names are Hallie, Kathleen, Diane and Robyn.
