It is exactly as advertised, you pull off of the main highway here and get an overlook of some goosenecks of the river below. For the unfamiliar, a river gooseneck is an area in a river that turns a corner and then comes back and parallels itself for a bit. On roads we call them a hairpin turn. Imagine what happens when you take a section of yarn, pull it taut, and then push the two ends back towards each other. It wiggles into several S's. Goosenecks.
You pull of the main highway and make an immediate right, go down a very well maintained and graded dirt road, and come to a small parking lot. Off to the left is the Sunset Point Trail (highly recommend, it's listed separately here on Yelp) and on the right is the goosenecks overlook. It's only a few hundred feet to the guardrail on the side of the cliff that gives you the vantage point and vistas you came for.
As distance and terrain goes, it's not wheelchair accessible as you have to traverse some rocks, but it's quite close and kids could definitely make the walk. As safety goes, you're gonna wanna leash the kids on this one. There are some really steep dropoffs.
A lovely spot to take some photos and marvel at the river so very far below. read more
